Power Wheels Star Wars Speeder Bike: Awesomendor!

I don’t know about you, but I have always wanted to have my own Speeder Bike from the Endor forest in Return of the Jedi. I never thought to make one using Power Wheels. Well, Instructables member miketherdaintx has done just that. He has built a 74-Z speeder bike using a Power Wheels toy car.

It may not go very fast, but it looks pretty awesome. Any kid would love this. If you want to build one for yourself, you can check out all of the photos and instructions at the link above.

Too bad an adult would totally destroy this. That wouldn’t keep me from riding it through. It just would be the slowest Speeder chase ever.

Backseat Drivers Are the Only Drivers in This Car

Normally backseat drivers are a pain in the butt, but with this car, it is the backseat driver doing all of the work. King of Customs in Dubai modified this 2008 Nissan Patrol SUV so that it is controlled from the rear seat.

There are no controls, pedals or gauges in the front. Passengers riding up front can just watch TV or surf the web on the screens in front of them. The steering wheel is in the center in the back seat.

I bet the guy who made this has realized by now that front seat drivers are even worse than backseat drivers.

Check out more pics of this insane mod over on King of Customs’ Facebook page.

Car Gets Completely Covered in Leather

I’ve seen cars covered in gold, diamonds and other materials, but it isn’t everyday that you see a car covered in bison leather. This insanely over-the-top ride was made by a guy from Russia.

The car is completely covered in Canadian wood bison leather from the inside out. I guess this guy really loves his leather. Though expensive natural fur, including mink and sable was added to the interior to complement the bison leather.

The hood, dashboard, seats and even the engine has been enshrouded in specially treated leather that can withstand high temperatures.

And of course, there are also Swarovski crystals in select areas, because you have to have those gaudy and cheap bits of glass to pimp anything out.

What do you think? Too much leather? Or do you love it? Oh, did I happen to mention that it’s for sale? It’s just 88,000,000 Russian Rubles – or about $2.66 million US Dollars.

Lamborghini has officially unveiled a new version of its “entry-level” sports car called the Gallardo at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show. BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car costs over $135,000

BMW officially unveiled the i8 plug-in hybrid 2+2 sports car at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show this week. BMW calls the vehicle with the most anticipated cars in history, I think that’s a bit of a stretch but it’s a cool hybrid sports car nonetheless. The vehicle will cost $135,925 including destination handling. BMW says […]

Nissan Nismo Watch Concept Tracks Your Heart Rate While You’re Hooning

When you are doing something that requires a lot of thought and concentration it’s surprisingly easy to forget to breathe. For instance, when you’re zipping down the racetrack at 100mph or pulling 2Gs around a corner, you should breathe. To help drivers be aware of their state of being while behind the wheel, Nissan has unveiled an interesting and rather offbeat device called the Nismo Watch Concept.

nismo watch 1

The purpose of the smartwatch is to connect the driver to their Nismo car and provide the driver with real-time biometric data. Drivers can use the watch to monitor the efficiency of their vehicle including average speed and fuel consumption. The watch can also access vehicle telematics and performance data while the driver is on the race track. The Nismo watch also captures the driver’s heart rate.

The watch connects to the car using a smartphone application and the watch can receive messages from Nissan having to do with their specific vehicle. There’s no word on if the device will be produced or what it might cost, but it’s interesting to see Nissan considering something like this.

Guy Builds Knight Rider K.I.T.T. Replica: K.A.R.R. Better Watch out

I can hear the theme music playing in my head now. Just look at this awesome replica of K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider. To say that this version is impressive would be a massive understatement.
kitt
Chris Palmer built his replica out of a 1991 Pontiac Trans Am, while the original KITT was a 1982, in case you weren’t aware. Sadly, Chris’s K.I.T.T. doesn’t actually talk yet, but that can be forgiven because all of the other details are simply amazing. It took him about three years to complete the project.

I don’t know about you, but I am really jealous. This brings back all kinds of memories of my childhood back in the 80s. And a time when David Hasselhoff hadn’t lost his mind yet.

Virgin Galactic SpaceShip Two Test Flight Hits Mach 1.43

We’ve been suckers for space travel around here for a long time. My secret goal is to one day make enough money to afford a ticket aboard Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShip Two. Unfortunately, tickets for suborbital flights are insanely expensive, but it would be so cool to take one of those flights.

virgin galactic spaceship two 1

Before anyone can climb on board the SS2 and head into orbit, the aircraft has to pass a number of flight tests. Virgin Galactic recently conducted another flight test in which SS2 was able to reach an altitude of 69,000 feet and a speed of Mach 1.43. SS2′s previous best was 55,000 feet and Mach 1.2.

The test flight happened at 8 AM local time in the California Mojave Desert this past Thursday. This marks the second time SS2 has had a successful supersonic flight using its rocket engine. The latest flight saw the hybrid rocket engine burn for 20 seconds, twice the time it was powered up during the first flight.

It is called Lord Humungous and it was created by 52-year-old Lance Greathouse from Phoenix, Arizona. “It” is a flamethrower attached to a mobility scooter. Lord Humungous cost about $1000 and a month of labor to create.
