Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Brings Galaxy Gear Support

Over the past couple of weeks the Android 4.3 update has been released for a number of Samsung devices, primarily those that have already been succeeded by newer models. The update is important in the sense that it brings support for the company’s new smartwatch, Galaxy Gear. After having been released for the Sprint and AT&T variants, today Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update has been released which finally adds support for the smartwatch to Big Red’s version of the popular phablet.

Apart from support for the smartwatch, this update comes with all of the goodies that users expect from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. A number of preinstalled applications from Samsung are also included in the update, and so is the Samsung Knox enterprise security suite. The update also makes improvements to the music player, S Voice, camera and more. Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update weighs in around 700MB, its a hefty download, once you’ll definitely want to start on a strong Wi-Fi connection. Verizon is rolling out the update over the air, by now it should have gone live in almost all regions. Those who haven’t received the update notification as yet on their Galaxy Note 2 units can try manually requesting the update through the “Update” button in the Settings app.

Leaked Accessory Card “Confirms” Lumia Icon Moniker

Leaked Accessory Card Confirms Lumia Icon MonikerAccording to recent rumors, the upcoming Nokia Lumia 929 for Verizon could be known as the Lumia Icon, but since these are merely rumors, it’s quite hard to tell if they are true. Well according to a leaked photo by @evleaks, it would seem as though the Lumia Icon name is confirmed. This is according to the photo above which is apparently that of an accessory card for Verizon, but unfortunately the image does not resemble anything other than some colored and blurred out rectangles. However this is @evleaks we’re talking about and he has had a pretty stellar track record so far, but at the same time we suppose it is safer to err on caution and take it with a grain of salt for now.

For those hearing about the Lumia 929 a.k.a Lumia Icon, the handset is said to be a smaller version of the Lumia 1520. It is expected to pack the same hardware specs under the hood, but instead of featuring a phablet-sized display, it will feature a more compact 5” display instead. An official launch date for the handset has yet to be announced but if the recent rumors are to be believed, its launch has been delayed until February 2014 which is around MWC 2014, so we guess we won’t have to wait too long to hear the official details.

Verizon Galaxy S3 Gets Android 4.3 Update

Verizon Galaxy S3 Gets Android 4.3 UpdateIt was just last week that we talked about how T-Mobile has rolled out the Android 4.3 update for their Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE smartphone, news which will most probably leave Verizon owners of the Galaxy S3 wondering just when will it be their turn to enjoy the most recent operating system update. Well, it seems that all of that patient waiting has finally paid off, as we now know that Verizon’s Galaxy S3 is the next recipient of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, bumping up the software version to JJSS15J.I535VRUCML1.

Inside this update will also come with the same features that can be found in the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile Galaxy S3 models, and that includes support for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Assuming your Verizon branded Galaxy S3 has yet to receive the update, you can check out Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Updates. The moment the update is installed and everything is running fine and dandy, give it a long twirl to make sure that everything is all right. Other than support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, this update also lets you access the Verizon Cloud and gain an open door to 5MB of free storage that will be conveniently made available on your device, now how about that? Verizon Lumia 929 Might Have Been Delayed Until February

Verizon Lumia 929 Might Have Been Delayed Until February

Over the past few months we have heard a lot of rumors about a Verizon exclusive Lumia smartphone. It is expected to be called the Lumia 929, though recent reports suggest that perhaps it might launch as the “Icon,” which is actually considered to be its internal codename. Verizon is yet to confirm this device, and obviously it hasn’t said anything about it up till now. A few days back it was rumored that the release has been pushed back to January 16th, but apparently it might take the Lumia 929 even longer to hit the shelves. The latest rumor suggests that Verizon Lumia 929 has been delayed until February 2014.

The reason behind this delay is said to be Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division. It appears that Verizon wants to deal directly with Microsoft, which is why it is waiting for the deal to be closed. Microsoft’s acquisition deal has already received the required regulatory approval, it is expected to close the deal on time, within the first quarter of 2014. The Lumia 929 is believed to have the same internal specifications as the Lumia 1520, which was unveiled back in October. However, the Lumia 929 might have a 5 inch display instead of the 6 inch one found on the Lumia 1520.

HTC One Android 4.3 Update Increases Charging Speeds, Has VZ Cloud App Preloaded

HTC One Android 4.3 Update Increases Charging Speeds, Has VZ Cloud App PreloadedYes, we did read about how the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One from Verizon Wireless has already been approved, and it is nice to know that the mobile operating system update has finally arrived, not too long after HTC’s Executive Director of Product Management tweeted to give an advanced warning, or rather, glad tidings, that the Over The Air update is all set to roll out early this week. The changelog is already up and running, and among the features which end users will be able to enjoy would include speedier recharging times (a good thing always, especially in this day and age where we are always on the move and are busier than ever before) whenever one uses a Mophie Juice Pack, the removal of ringing noises on the earpiece, as well as being able to play back selected ringtones.

The HTC Watch application has also been given a boost, where the user will now be able to check out the correct date via the all-day calendar reminder. Apart from that, the keyboard will also be able to better recognize conjunctions, and do expect an improved level of performance from the Backup Assistant. Well, what are you waiting for? Go get ‘em, tiger!

Verizon FiOS Xbox One App Released

Verizon FiOS Xbox One App Released

It has almost been two years since the Verizon FiOS app for the Xbox 360 was released. That might seem like a long time ago, and that console might not seem worthy of your attention anymore, that’s because the Xbox One is now here. Today the Verizon FiOS Xbox One app has been released, those Xbox Live Gold members who already subscribe to FiOS can download the app now and steam up to 74 live channels on their latest gaming console. The app is compatible with the console’s snap feature and also supports Kinect and gesture controls.

However, there’s not much that FiOS subscribers can do through the app apart from streaming live TV. Video on demand content is not offered. Even DVR recordings can not be scheduled through the FiOS Xbox One app. Its not like there wasn’t enough time to bake all these features within the app, a major revamp comes after almost two years and on the Xbox One the missing features really do leave something to be desired. However, with the app’s release, Verizon becomes the first TV provider to offer a live multi-channel HD TV streaming application with Kinect integration. The Verizon FiOS Xbox One app is immediately available for down, its doesn’t cost a penny.

Nokia Lumia Icon For Verizon Rumored For 16th January Release

Nokia Lumia Icon For Verizon Rumored For 16th January ReleaseEarlier we had reported on a rumor that the Lumia 929 for Verizon could be rebranded as the Lumia Icon, doing away with the numbered models. Unfortunately apart from that piece of information, we’re still in the dark regarding a possible release time, but thanks to a new theory, it has been suggested that the 16th of January 2014 could be a possible date. This is based on how Verizon typically likes to launch their products on a Thursday, not to mention the phone could be officially announced at CES 2014, allowing it to generate some hype and publicity prior to its release, as opposed to Verizon just releasing the device outright without any fanfare.

The Thursday theory seems to line up as last we heard, the previously rumored release date for the handset was pegged for the 21st of November, also a Thursday. In any case we will be taking this with a grain of salt for now and suggest you do the same, but with us already being halfway through to December, we wouldn’t be surprised if the handset’s launch was pushed to 2014 instead. While it has not been confirmed, the Lumia Icon is rumored to be a smaller version of the Lumia 1520 and will share most of its specs, except in a smaller 5” body compared to the Lumia 1520’s phablet proportions.
