Nokia’s Verizon-bound Lumia 929 shows up again in leaked photo

We’re quickly losing count on how many times we have seen leaks of the Nokia Lumia 929. Still, something tells us Verizon subscribers won’t mind getting as many looks as possible at what’s rumored to be a pretty high-end smartphone. Now, courtesy of a forum member on Windows Phone Central, we’re seeing the Lumia 929 from a slightly different angle than in previous occasions. As a refresher, Nokia’s unannounced handset is rumored to come with a 5-inch, 1080p display, 32GB of built-in storage and a 20-megapixel PureView shooter. Previous reports suggested it could hit Verizon around Thanksgiving, but according to the person behind the most recent leak, this Windows Phone device won’t be official until sometime in mid-to-late December.

White Droid Ultra And Droid Mini Available On Verizon Now

White Droid Ultra And Droid Mini Available On Verizon NowJust three days ago, it seems that a white colored version of the Motorola Droid Ultra was spotted, where it was headed to Verizon. Of course, until there is an official confirmation concerning that, it would remain but a rumor, so it is a good thing that Verizon is now offering white colored models of not only the Motorola Droid Ultra, but the Motorola Droid Mini as well. This would definitely appeal to those who have always wanted to pick up either smartphone from Verizon, but are not too pleased with the choices of just black and red. Other than the color change on the outside, the insides would remain pretty much similar without any change.

Just to refresh our memories, both of these smartphones will arrive with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a 10-megapixel shooter at the back, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. Needless to say, the Motorola Droid Mini would be the smaller of the two, where it sports a 4.3” display while the Droid Ultra itself would come with a 5” display. Pricing would remain the same as black and red colored models, as the Motorola Droid Ultra and Droid Mini will burn a $99.99 and $49.99 hot in your pocket, respectively, accompanied by a 2-year agreement.

HP Is Taking Over the Hosting of HealthCare.gov

We don’t need to tell you how much of a disaster Healthcare.gov has been. But what we do need to tell you is that, fortunately, the Government is being sensible enough to not renew its contract with its host Verizon.

Verizon’s Redbox Instant now supports AirPlay streaming

Verizon’s subscription streaming TV service, Redbox Instant, now supports Apple’s AirPlay thanks to a new version 1.4 iOS app update — with some caveats. For starters, though you’ll be able to play streaming content on your iOS 6 device, the app doesn’t support downloaded material as yet. Also, your viewing may be broken off if you receive texts and certain notifications, if you lock the device or if you quit Redbox to use another app. Meanwhile, AirPlay Mirroring, which lets you play from your device with your TV as a second screen, will still work just fine. Other tweaks include the usual bug fixes and improvements to the recommendations engine. So, if you’ve got Apple TV and want to give it a whirl, hit the source — just make sure to tell your pals not to contact you mid-film.

Intel Reportedly Wants $500 Million For Its Internet TV Service

Intel Reportedly Wants $500 Million For Its Internet TV Service

It has been known for quite some time now that Intel has been working on an internet based TV service which would be powered through a set-top box that would be built by the company itself. However Intel’s TV service has failed to take off and recently it has been rumored multiple times that the chip maker is looking to offload the entire project. The latest from Bloomberg News suggests that Intel is asking $500 million for the service and it looks to wrap up the sale by the end of this year, which isn’t that far off.

The report says that Intel had created set-top boxes during the time it was working on its internet TV project and that it also developed mobile applications for smartphones and tablets through which subscribers would have been able to stream content. It goes without saying that Intel did put in substantial resources in this project, one that it now looks to get off its hands. Verizon has been rumored to be interested in the project, which is headed by the Intel Media division. The latest report once again hints at Verizon as a possible buyer, Big Red can use the division to expand its footing in the TV reach beyond FiOS. Verizon and Intel are said to be in talks, but no official confirmation has materialized as yet.

    Amazon Offers Verizon’s BlackBerry Z30 For $99.99

Amazon Offers Verizons BlackBerry Z30 For $99.99When the BlackBerry Z30 was launched, it was also revealed that the handset would eventually be making its way onto Verizon’s network where customers would be able to get their hands on the device for $199.99 on a new two-year contract with the carrier. While the Z30 isn’t exactly the most powerful smartphone available at the moment, and nor is BlackBerry an extremely popular operating system for mobile devices (it still has a pretty loyal following though), $199.99 did seem a tad pricey especially given that there are other options out there that can be had for a similar, if not lower price.

Well the good news is that if you wanted the Z30 but felt that the original asking price was more than you’d have liked to pay, Amazon is now offering up the BlackBerry Z30 for $99.99 on contract with Verizon, naturally. This equates to customers shaving $100 off the original asking price which we reckon makes it a pretty awesome deal. The BlackBerry Z30 is BlackBerry’s phablet efforts and sports a 5” 720 HD display with a quad-core chipset under the hood with BlackBerry OS 10.2 running the show. So at $99.99, any takers?

Intel is hunting $500m and a chip supply deal for its ailing OnCue pay TV service, it’s reported, despite the system not having launched yet, with Verizon, Samsung, and others tipped to be in talks about a sale. Engadget's smartphone buyer's guide: fall 2013

As the leaves turn to gold and flutter from the trees, the Engadget team digs out their scarves and mittens to get ready for the mad rush of phone launches that take place ahead of the holiday season. We’ve seen big devices (both large and high-profile ones) enter the world over the last few months, including new heavyweights from Apple and Google. Then there’s Samsung, Nokia and HTC, which are all following the philosophy that bigger is better.

But it’s not just on the hardware side that things are getting exciting. T-Mobile’s eliminated roaming charges and Verizon is doubling its LTE speeds to a whopping 80 Mbps. AT&T is offering customers a $5 daily pass for internet and is making mobile share plans the standard rather than the exception. Of course, if you’d prefer unlimited data, Sprint is promising that its Spark LTE will beat the field — but it’s currently only available in NYC, LA, Chicago, Tampa and Miami. Whether you’re looking for a smartphone right now, or if you’re contract is about to expire, this is your guide to the best ones on the market.

Redbox Instant hits Windows Phone, will remain Lumia-exclusive for 60 days

After launching on iOS and Android almost a year ago, the mobile version of Redbox Instant by Verizon has finally arrived in the Windows Phone Store. Aside from a few cosmetic changes and added Live Tile support, the new app works exactly like its cross-platform counterparts, offering movie streaming and maps to nearby Redbox kiosks. An $8 monthly subscription also covers the rental fees for up to four DVDs, although customers can upgrade to Blu-ray discs for an additional dollar. The bad news is that the app’s exclusive to Nokia’s Lumia range right now — plebes with other WP8 devices will have to wait until the end of January for general availability.

A Glimpse at the BlackBerry Thunder

This article was written on June 09, 2008 by CyberNet.

With all of the hype surrounding the 3G iPhone, we can’t forget about other phones out there like the BlackBerry Thunder which has been labeled as RIM’s “iPhone Killer.” Boy Genius Report (BGR) claims to have received an official product shot, and if it’s legitimate, it confirms that the phone will be touchscreen. This is a whole new route for RIM to take with their devices because up until now, their phones haven’t had an on-screen keyboard. Take a look at the image below (from BGR):

    blackberry thunder.png

Notice what else is missing besides the keyboard? The trackball! If people will be scrolling with their fingers, there’s no need for the trackball. It looks pretty slick, doesn’t it? At this point it’s believed that Verizon will be the exclusive carrier for the phone, and it’s expected to launch sometime in September. There’s been no word yet on the cost of the phone quite yet.

RIM is pretty bold for coming out with a touchscreen device. I know of several people who like the features of the iPhone, yet would never switch from their BlackBerry, simply because they like the keyboard. Is this a smart move for RIM to make to try and attract more of the casual users since most of their subscribers use the devices for business purposes?
