Nokia Lumia 929 Leaked, Apparently Heading For Verizon

Nokia Lumia 929 Leaked, Apparently Heading For VerizonHere we are with yet another leak from the good people over at @evleaks, where they have shown off what does seem to resemble the Nokia Lumia 929 that will be headed for Verizon. Just what kind of smartphone will the Nokia Lumia 929 be? It is more or less a physically less imposing version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 handset, sporting a 5” AMOLED display that delivers 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution which should make watching all those movies while you are on the go a cinch. Not only that, it comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor alongside 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

Not only that, the Nokia Lumia 929 is also said to feature a 20.7-megapixel PureView camera that is located at the back, where it boasts of a ZEISS lens, dual-LED flash and the ability to play nice with the Nokia Camera app. Not only that, it also sports dual-capture mode (5-megapixels and 16-megapixels) with the inclusion of optical image stabilization. It ought to arrive in both black and white shades, too.

We ought to take note that this is not the first time that such a press rendering has been leaked out for the Nokia Lumia 929 that indicates it is arriving for Verizon, but as the possible release date draws nearer, I guess that means a leak then would be an indicator of its relevance.

Apple Tops Customer Satisfaction Survey For AT&T And Verizon

Apple Tops Customer Satisfaction Survey For AT&T And VerizonWhile customer satisfaction does not always translate into more sales, it is a feather that is worthy of sticking into one’s cap and as far as AT&T and Verizon customer satisfaction is concerned, Apple has managed to grab the number one spot. This is according to J.D. Power’s recently released smartphone satisfaction survey in which the four major carriers were surveyed regarding customer satisfaction. While Apple might have the competition beat on AT&T and Verizon, that cannot be said for T-Mobile and Sprint.

For the other two carriers, it looks like Apple’s rival, Samsung, has them beat. However it should be noted that on Sprint, Samsung edged Apple out with a ranking of 853, versus Apple’s 849, which is admittedly a pretty close call. It has been suggested that perhaps there is a good chance Apple might have beaten Samsung on Sprint as Apple’s new iPhones had only just gone on sale during the survey period, meaning that not as many units were sold yet. In any case the next survey might tell a whole different story so that will definitely be worth looking out for. In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you agree with J.D. Power’s findings?

iPhone 5c ‘Undersold Expectations,’ Says Verizon CFO

iPhone 5c Undersold Expectations, Says Verizon CFO

Earlier today Verizon reported its third quarter earnings. Afterwards, in an interview with Reuters, Verizon Communications Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said that Apple’s unapologetically plastic iPhone 5c “undersold expectations,” while adding that the iPhone 5s was in short supply. Shammo said that iPhone 5c is in “plenty supply” and that this would generally be the answer of each of the major carriers, as consumer reception for the iPhone 5s seems to be much stronger, at least at Verizon.

51 percent of Verizon’s smartphone activations in the third quarter were accounted for by iPhones, though the carrier didn’t breakdown the percentage with regards to different iPhone models. He termed short supply of iPhone 5c as a “significant issue” for the carrier. Shammo revealing that iPhone 5c “undersold expectations” comes at a time when it is consistently being rumored that Apple is seeing weak demand for the iPhone 5c. The company has reportedly cut down production orders for the plastic iPhone almost a month after its launch. Yesterday, WSJ reported that Foxconn had been ordered to cut production by a third while Pegatron had been directed to slash iPhone 5c production by 20 percent. Apple hasn’t commented on these rumors and hasn’t said anything about the demand, or lack thereof, for the iPhone 5c.

Verizon Galaxy S4 Update Build VRUDMI1 Released

Verizon Galaxy S4 Update Build VRUDMI1 Released

Verizon today rolled out a new software update for its Samsung Galaxy S4. Bear in mind that the update does not bump up the core Android OS to 4.3. It will still take a while for carrier branded devices to receive the Android 4.3 update in the U.S. This particular update, build VRUDMI1, brings Samsung’s Optical Reader app and a few updates to existing apps such as WatchON, Samsung Hub, S Health, Air View and more. Optical Reader app lets users find addresses, business cards and contacts with “real-time recognition.”

A number of improvements accompany the update as well. Better Wi-Fi connectivity is promised, and so are improvements to device wake-up upon pressing the relevant button. A fix for force closes on long video recording sessions is included in the update as well, including the ability to roam on TELUS across the border in Canada. Driving mode setting has been relocated to S-Voice settings and a number of other changes have been made as well. The update weighs in around 150MB and is currently rolling out over-the-air. Still, it may take a couple of days before the update reaches every Verizon branded Galaxy S4 unit out there. No word as yet on when carrier approved Android 4.3 update is going to roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Verizon Slashes Prices Of All New Droid Smartphones

Verizon Slashes Prices Of All New Droid Smartphones

Earlier this year, in August to be precise, Verizon launched its all new Droid lineup. The smartphones are actually made by Motorola, but they’re exclusive to the Big Red. Three models were announced, the Droid Mini, Droid Maxx and Droid Ultra. Two months down the line, Verizon has decided to slash prices of all of the three models. Its intriguing to see Verizon take this step within just two months of the smartphones being launched, the carrier has offered no explanation as to why its slashing the prices.

Verizon Droid Maxx was originally priced at $299 with a two year contract. This particular smartphone has a 3,500mAh battery, which makes it a viable choice for those who value battery life above all else. The Maxx is now down to $199, with a two year contract on Verizon. Droid Ultra is a thin and light device, which is now down to just $99.99 on contract from its previous price of $199.99. Last but not the least, the Droid Mini sees a price cut from $99 to $49. This would probably be a good time to make a purchase if you’ve been holding out on purchasing a new Droid. Verizon has given no indication if the price cuts are a limited time promotion.

Verizon Begins Offering Same-Day Delivery For Online Purchases

Verizon Begins Offering Same Day Delivery For Online Purchases

If you want to get a mobile device in your hands as soon as possible, the best way to go has always been to visit your local carrier’s retail store to attempt to pick up your device without being sold any additional accessories, plans or anything else sales representatives want to attach to your purchase. For the rest of us, online ordering has been a great way to get what we want without any hassle, but waiting days to receive our mobile device as it make its way across the U.S. to our doorstep isn’t very ideal either. That’s why Verizon Wireless will begin offering a same-day delivery program to its customers living in Philadephia. (more…)

Moto X Camera Update For Verizon Could Be Coming Soon

Moto X Camera Update For Verizon Could Be Coming SoonBack in September, T-Mobile’s Moto X received an update that basically improved the smartphone’s camera, making them the first carrier to receive said update. Other carriers were expected to receive it soon and the good news is that if you’re a Verizon subscriber, it looks like the update should be rolled out in the near future. This is according to emails some Verizon Moto X users have received informing them of an upcoming soak test for their device. The email did not state what sort of update Verizon Moto X users could look forward to, but if we had to guess, we would say that the camera update would be a safe bet.

No word on when exactly will the update be released once the soak test is complete, but presumably it will be released in the near future. For those unfamiliar, the camera update will improve the phone’s camera, such as its color accuracy, exposure, reduce noise, and etc. It is a pretty obvious update and one that we’re sure many Moto X users will gladly welcome. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information on when the update will be released, so check back with us in the near future for the details!

Verizon HTC One Max release coming “this holiday season”

There’s little doubt now that Verizon is switching up the way it does business with HTC smartphones, bringing on the HTC One Max not long after the release of the original HTC One. While normally we’d see Verizon carrying a single HTC device of the same caliber, this time around the 4G LTE-toting mobile company […]
