Okay, okay, one more bit of info to share from Amazon tonight. Those snazzy new Fire HDX tablets are, as expected, getting cellular options. This time out, however, the company is adding an additional carrier. In addition to AT&T, Fire buyers will be able to go with a Verizon version. That upgrade will cost you an extra $100 on top of the base price, bringing the 7-inch version to $329 and the 8.9-inch one to $479. According to Amazon, “standard plans” will be supported for the two carriers. A breakdown of that pricing can be found after the break.
With the DROID Ultra and the DROID Maxx out in stores now aside the DROID Mini, there’s not much else Motorola can do in the smartphone space – save the Moto X, of course. But what about tablets? This week the folks at Droid Landing have all but confirmed their intent to release a Motorola […]
So we know that Verizon will be one of the many carriers to offer the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 although we’re sure some of you guys have some concerns about the device, mainly whether or not Verizon will be brazenly branding the home button of the Galaxy Note 3 with their logo like they did with the Galaxy Note 2. Well for those who were immensely annoyed by that stunt Verizon pulled last year, you’re in luck because it seems that the only Verizon branding you can expect is on the back of the phone which you can see in the image above which was pulled from Best Buy’s website. Interestingly enough AT&T’s version of the handset will be logo-free, so if you want a “clean” phone, perhaps AT&T will be the way to go here.
In any case Verizon’s version of the Galaxy Note 3 is expected to begin shipping to customers on the 10th of October which is only a couple of weeks away. The handset will be priced at $299.99 on a new two-year contract with the carrier, although for those who would rather not be tied down to a contract, Verizon is also offering the handset off-contract but it will set you back $699.99 for the price of freedom. As a quick recap for those who might have missed the news, the handset will pack a 5.7” Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset, a 13MP rear-facing camera with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running the show.

We’ve already had a peek at the back of Nokia’s reported Lumia 1520 spinoff for Verizon. Today, we may be looking at the front: frequent tipster @evleaks has posted what’s claimed to be a press image of the Lumia 929. While the 929 render hasn’t been directly linked to the earlier photo, the abundance of home screen tiles hints at an equally large phone with the 1520’s Windows Phone GDR3 software. It may not be as big as the 1520 itself, though. An RM-927 phone recently reached the FCC with both Verizon LTE and dimensions only slightly larger than the Lumia 625. If it represents the 929, the carrier may be using a roughly 5-inch screen instead of the 1520’s rumored 6-inch display. Whatever we’re looking at, there’s a chance that we’ll see more of it on October 22nd.
Update: “Popular demand” had persuaded @evleaks to post a press image of the phone’s backside (viewable after the break), which looks identical to the leaked shot we saw earlier this month.

There have been rumors that BlackBerry would introduce a touch-only parallel to the Q5, and we may have just glimpsed that smartphone in the wild. Both BBin and CrackBerry have photos of what’s reportedly the “Americano,” the first device in the low-end C-series. The handset appears to be a smaller, more rounded counterpart to the Z30. There’s nothing to support claims that the “Americano” will use the Q5’s Snapdragon 400 processor and 5-megapixel camera, but there is a Verizon logo hinting at the possibility of a US launch. We also haven’t heard of a release date for the phone, assuming it’s released at all. We won’t be surprised if it launches relatively soon, however; when BlackBerry is discounting the Z10, there may be a hole in the lineup before long.

As we first noted back in 2010, Verizon has allowed its FiOS TV users to watch live TV from their iPad while connected to their home wireless network, adding an element of mobility to its service. This service has finally been expanded, with Android and iOS users now being able to watch live TV from […]
Qualcomm joins Wireless Power Consortium board, sparks hope for A4WP and Qi unification
Posted in: Today's ChiliQualcomm, the founding member of Alliance for Wireless Power (or A4WP in short), made a surprise move today by joining the management board of the rival Wireless Power Consortium (or WPC), the group behind the already commercially available Qi standard. This is quite an interesting development considering how both alliances have been openly critical of each other, and yet now there’s a chance of seeing just one standard getting the best of both worlds. That is, of course, dependent on Qualcomm’s real intentions behind joining the WPC.

Verizon FiOS Mobile on Android and iOS can now stream live TV from anywhere
Posted in: Today's Chili
The shackles have been officially removed. If you’re one of the many folks using FiOS Mobile on Android or iOS, then you’re aware the app’s live TV streaming feature has only worked while being connected to one’s own home network. Beginning today, though, Verizon will allow FiOS TV subscribers to view real-time content even when away from their humble abode, via the FiOS Mobile Android and iOS applications. The number of networks supported is pretty short, with only nine being onboard at the moment — this includes the Travel Channel, BBC America, BBC World News, EPIX, HGTV, DIY, Tennis Channel and, on the iPad, the NFL Network. But, as they say, you’ve got to start somewhere, and chances are this channel lineup will become more robust in the weeks ahead.

White BlackBerry Z30 And Wireless Charing Variant Could Be A Verizon Exclusive
Posted in: Today's ChiliAccording to a tweet by Verizon the other day, we know that the carrier would be getting its hands on the new BlackBerry Z30, but now word on the street has it that the carrier would not only be offering the device, but could also offer up an exclusive white version of the BlackBerry Z30 and a wireless charging variant as well. Back before the Z30 was announced, it had been rumored that the handset could offer up wireless charging capabilities, making it a first for the company, and sure enough that feature was announced alongside the phone as well.
Given that the BlackBerry Z10 made its debut on Verizon with an exclusive white model earlier this year, we guess this rumor does make some sense. In any case we expect the white model to be pretty much the same as the normal BlackBerry Z30 and will keep its internals, with the main difference being a fresh coat of white paint. The Z30 is expected to pack a 5” Super AMOLED display with a quad-core processor under the hood, a 2,880mAh battery, uses BlackBerry Natural Sound that will provide an enhanced audio experience to the user, and of course will be running on the BlackBerry 10 operating system.
