Vine Vanity URLs Launch Tomorrow

Vine Vanity URLs Launch Tomorrow

Vanity URLs serve a much more greater purpose than just allowing you to pick out a really cool moniker for your profile. They make it easier for people to discover you, assuming that you have no qualms with that, and they are also much shorter than conventional URLs which means that sharing them is as easy as telling someone your name. We’re already accustomed to using vanity URLs on Twitter and Facebook, but starting tomorrow, Vine users will also be able to reserve their very own monikers, which will then be displayed as “http://vine.co/(username).

Registration for vanity URLs begin tomorrow at 9 am PT, at first Twitter, which owns Vine, will only allow those with verified Twitter accounts to reserve monikers. Users with verified accounts who don’t want a URL tied to the Twitter username can request a different URL, provided that it hasn’t already been registered by someone else. The average users will not be allowed to register until December 23rd. The process isn’t going to be too hard. Users will simply need to log into their accounts and follow the instructions to register their very own vanity URL. Once it is registered, it can’t be registered by someone else. Users aren’t compelled to do this though, its purely optional.

Vine For Android Runs On Gingerbread, Allows Only Viewing

Vine For Android Runs On Gingerbread, Allows Only ViewingVine for Android first hit the Google Play Store in June earlier this year, to much fanfare and cheers of fans of the app. Since then, Vine for Android has seen its fair share of software updates to bring you new features to the mix, and they have not exactly disappointed, either. This time around, the latest version of Vine for Android would now be able to support the viewing of short looping videos on Android 2.3 Gingerbread devices, although there is one drawback to this particular version of Vine – you are unable to do anything else other than to view the short video clips if your smartphone runs on the hottest Android version in 2010.

Starting from the Explore tab, you will be able to look up popular posts, check out trending tags and browse channels in order to view videos that have been sorted by categories which range from comedy to nature and sports. Should you find something that catches your eye, why not revine the post and share the love? Perhaps the lack of video creation capability this time around might actually move you to think about upgrading that aged Android-powered device of yours to something new and more respectable to pull out of your pocket this holiday season. Vine For Windows Phone Update Brings Support For Drafts

Vine For Windows Phone Update Brings Support For Drafts

A significant app gap exists between mobile platforms that aren’t as popular as the two behemoths that rule the global smartphone market, iOS and Android. Therefore users who opt for these mobile platforms often have to wait for quite a long time before some of the most popular apps on iOS and Android are ported over to their particular platform. This was precisely the case with Vine, which was only recently released for Windows Phone. Today, the Twitter owned Vine Labs rolled out an update for Microsoft’s mobile platform which brings support for saving those six-second clips in drafts.

Today’s update brings version number up to 1.1 and brings feature parity between the iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps. When it was initially launched, Vine for WP didn’t support drafts which meant that users had to finish up the six second clip at once, they couldn’t save it mid-way and pick it up later. Today’s update brings the ability to save Vines mid-way through recording and resume recording from that very spot at a later time. There are only minor visual tweaks included in this update apart from the drafts feature. Available for free, the updated Vine for Windows Phone is now live and ready for download through the Windows Phone Store.

Vine expands its reach internationally with support for more languages

Twitter’s six-second video sharing app Vine is making a play for more markets, announcing today that its apps for iOS and Android have been translated into 19 new languages, plus two more just on Android. Also available on Windows Phone and sporting a user base of over 40 million, a blog post also mentions Vine is working on ways to highlight popular clips on a country-by-country basis. Many of the Vine’s we’ve seen work in any language, but we suppose opening up access to the app to more people will only increase the creativity seen. Now, who can translate “Ooooh, kill ’em” into Polish?

Vine Releases On Windows Phone With Live Tiles Support

We previously caught a possible leak for what might be a Windows Phone 8 version of the popular micro-video social network, Vine. The leak simply had the Vine logo as part of Windows Phone 8’s Live Tiles home screen, and it looks like that leak turned out to be true as Vine is now available for Windows Phone users. (more…)

Vine App Update Brings ‘Sessions’ And ‘Time Travel’

Vine App Update Brings Sessions And Time Travel

Vine may have noticed a slump in its user base when after Video on Instagram came out, but its obviously not going to stop competing any time soon. The team continues to improve Vine by adding new features and making a number of improvements. Today Vine app for both Android and iOS has been updated with a couple of new features which make it much more easier for Vine users to create that perfect six second clip. The two new features are called Sessions and Time Travel.

The Vine app has never required users to finish their six second clip all at once, users have had the ability to record or pause in between as many times as they like. Though they couldn’t access any other section of the app, or even the timeline to view Vines published by other users. The Sessions features allows them to do just them, stop their recording mid-way and open up the timeline or any other area of the app. Users can store up to 10 unfinished Vines at once. The Time Travel feature has been aptly named, as it lets users go back and fix a mistake in their Vine. The feature lets them remove, replace or reorganize any shot within the six second clip before that clip is shared. Vine app for both Android and iOS is available for free from the Google Play Store and the App Store.
