Sony’s Project Morpheus Virtual Reality Headset Unveiled

Sonys Project Morpheus Virtual Reality Headset UnveiledSure enough as per our earlier report, it looks like Sony has officially announced their own virtual reality headset that they have designed for the Sony PlayStation 4 in mind. The headset was officially unveiled at GDC 2014 and has been given the codename Project Morpheus. As it stands the headset is currently a prototype and according to Sony, it has been the result of three years worth of work.

According to Sony’s president, Shuhei Yoshida, “Nothing delivers a feeling of immersion better than VR. VR has been a dream of many gamers since the computer was invented. Many of us at PlayStation have dreamed of VR and what it could mean to the gaming community.” (more…)

    Sonys Virtual Reality Headset Plans Confirmed By Forbes ReportAccording to a report from last week, it was rumored that Sony could be taking the wraps off a virtual reality headset at GDC 2014 which is being held this week. It was a rumor at that time but according to a recent post on Forbes, it seems that the launch of this device has all but been confirmed.

    It seems that the report had gone out a little earlier than expected, suggesting that perhaps the folks at Forbes were given an exclusive and were under an NDA, but we guess someone had hit the publish button ahead of time. (more…)

    Microsoft Rumored To Be Prepping Virtual Reality Hardware Of Their OwnAccording to a report from last week, it was suggested that Sony could be unveiling their own virtual reality gaming solution this week during GDC. However it seems that they might not be alone in their virtual reality push, thanks to a recent report from The Wall Street Journal which has suggested that Microsoft could be interested in entering the virtual reality space as well.

    According to the report, they cite people who are familiar with the project who claims that Microsoft is interested in pursuing virtual reality with hardware of their own as well. As it stands the project has been in the works for quite some time now in conjunction with another Microsoft project which has been given the codename “Fortaleza”. (more…)
