Ever since Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 released, Deep Silver and Volition’s Saints Row 4 has taken an undeserved backseat in the hearts and minds of open world video game lovers. If you’ve completely forgotten Saints Row 4 has ever existed, a new mod allowing you to play the game in a first-person perspective may have you firing the game back up. (more…)
We’ve been keeping an eye on Volition and Deep Silver’s Saints Row 4 ever since it was announced to be released on August 20. Since then, we’ve seen a crazy pre-order bonus, an even crazier $1 million dollar special edition and another pre-order bonus that allows you to play as some iconic U.S. presidents. August 20 is upon us, which means Saints Row 4 is now available at your video game retailer of choice. (more…)
Saints Row 4 will be released on August 20, and so far, we’ve seen two interesting pre-order bonuses, especially its $1 million dollar special edition dubbed “The Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition.” It looks like the crazy pre-order bonuses don’t end there as a new GameStop pre-order bonus for the title allows you to play as either President Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. (more…)
The release for Saints Row 4 is getting ever so close as August 20 is right around the corner. We’re sure you’ve seen some of the crazy pre-order bonuses Volition is including with the game, but this pre-order bundle has to be the craziest we’ve ever seen as it will cost one “lucky” gamer $1,000,000 to purchase. For every tearful accountant at Saints Row HQ, there must be a gleeful marketing person punching the air, playing mini golf and doing whatever else marketing people do when they’re full of glee. Conflicted emotions aside, however, game publisher Deep Silver can now claim the notorious distinction of having its latest title, Saints Row IV, rejected outright by the Australian Classification Board (ACB). It’s the first such refusal since the ACB implemented a new R18+ rating, which is meant to allow for adult themes within games but which evidently couldn’t cope with Saints Row’s peculiar depictions of sexual violence (which were “not justified by context”) or its drug-themed reward system (which is “prohibited by the computer games guidelines”). According to The Guardian, this effectively means Saints Row IV is banned from sale in retail stores in Australia, but Joystiq has received word from Deep Silver saying it intends to create a “reworked” version of its open-world game specifically for that country. Meanwhile, the regular version has been given PEGI 18 and ESRB M ratings elsewhere, and it looks to be on track for an August release date.
Saint’s Row is a game that’s brought a rather odd assortment of open-world experiences to the fingertips of PC gamers for several generations. It’s a game that exists in the Grand Theft Auto-like universe of open sandbox playability: here offering a place for gamers to run around like wild, doing whatever they might, driving, interacting
Saints Row 4 is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on August 20 which Volition has already given us a glimpse of some of the crazy pre-order bonuses we can expect from the game a few weeks ago. The pre-order bonuses aren’t the only completely crazy thing about Saints Row 4 as Volition has just released a new trailer for the game, and you apparently play as the President of the United States of ‘Merica.
In the new “Meet the President” trailer, we see your character is not only the leader of ‘Merica, but also has a number of superhuman powers that allow him to perform some impressive feats of strength, run ridiculously fast and leap higher than most people can spit. Oh, yea – he also beats up a lot of citizens in the game, that is, when he’s not fighting illegal aliens. (more…)
It’s time again for the most wild and crazy blast of do-anything gaming madness with the next chapter of the franchise: Saints Row IV. The idea that this game series would continue was doused last year as the original owner of the title THQ was kicked in the gut and closed shop – as it turns out, the developers behind the series survived, and being purchased by none other than Koch Media in the time between then and now, Volition will once again be allowing us into their collective wild and crazy mind environment. The teaser for Saint’s Row IV was revealed today.
What you’re working with here in the newest chapter in the Saint’s Row franchise is another look at the go-anywhere and do-anything universe the public first fell in love with in the game known as Grand Theft Auto III. Open-run blast-anything and ride-everything returns here with Saint’s Row IV and we couldn’t be more pumped up about it. Have a peek at the first teaser trailer right this minute!
This game has been teased as taking place everywhere “from the Crack House to the White House” with no less than “ball-busting” excellence from start to finish. As you’ll see here, this game is ready to allow you to ride a car through town, murder your way through enemies galore, and fly. Fly right through the sky if you want – go for it!
The release of this game is set for some time inside August of 2013. At the moment it’s looking like a PC-certain release with current-generation consoles on deck. This means we’ll likely see Saint’s Row IV on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 – no word yet on PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720 action as yet. Stay tuned for more!
