Volvo Concept XC Coupe To Debut At Detroit Motor Show

Volvo Concept XC Coupe To Debut At Detroit Motor Show Concepts are always interesting to play with, since many boundaries are broken down and you do not really need to figure out all the limitations that are available in the real world. Having said that, working concepts as well as prototypes, too, give confidence to the masses that something equivalent can roll out sometime down the road. The folks over at Volvo have announced that the Volvo Concept XC Coupe will be the second in line of three concept cars that will make an appearance at the Detroit Motor Show. In fact, the Volvo Concept XC Coupe is said to be inspired by modern high-tech sports equipment as a “sophisticated, capable and safe car for people with an active lifestyle”.

The Volvo Concept XC Coupe will come across as a two-door, four-seater ride, where it will seemingly share an extremely strong bond with its sibling Volvo Concept Coupé. As for its larger 21-inch wheels, more accentuated wheel-arches as well as taller roofline, those would tend to end up making the entire ride look a whole lot more robust with a fuller, capable representation. Good thing there are no more Twilight movies in the pipeline that will function as Volvo advertisements! Do you like what you see above?

Volvo To Run Large Scale Autonomous Driving Pilot Project

Volvo To Run Large Scale Autonomous Driving Pilot ProjectSelf-driving cars, that seems to be the dream of many a driver worldwide, especially for those of us who happen to get caught in traffic jams every single work day of the week. Traffic jams are stressful, and how about those long road trips that require you to be extremely alert since danger can be around the corner at any time? Doze off for a while, and it could be fatal. The folks over at Volvo Car Group have initiated a special Swedish pilot project with self-driving cars on public roads, making it the first large-scale autonomous driving pilot project in the world. In fact, there will be up to 100 self-driving Volvo cars that will ply the public roads in everyday driving conditions around the Swedish city of Gothenburg, now how about that?

The project is known as ‘Drive Me – Self-driving cars for sustainable mobility’, and it so happens to be a partnership between Volvo Car Group, the Swedish Transport Administration, the Swedish Transport Agency, Lindholmen Science Park and the City of Gothenburg. The whole idea of this project is to prove that there are societal benefits attached to autonomous driving, and it further cements the position of Sweden and Volvo Cars as leaders in the development of future mobility. Will they be able to beat Nissan to it? [Press Release]
