LG G Watch will run on Android Wear

lg-g-watchIt does seem as though the smartwatch market segment is all set to scale greater heights than ever before, with word that Google will be releasing the Android Wear platform that makes wearable technology all the more viable in everyday life. Motorola did announce their Moto 360 smartwatch earlier this week, and South Korean consumer electronics giant LG has decided to hit back with a reply of their own, calling it the LG G Watch. This LG G Watch will run on Android Wear, and that makes it play nice with a wide range of Android smartphones, as it works to offer you relevant information as and when you require. Alternatively, you can just speak “OK Google” to the LG G Watch, ask it a question, and get stuff done.

LG, being one of Google’s lead partners in this effort, has plans in their pipeline to introduce the LG G Watch to the masses sometime in the second quarter of this year, so we should not see it being delayed beyond June 2014. The LG G Watch that is powered by Android Wear is touted to offer a low barrier to entry for developers, and not only that, it also claims to offer the best Google experience for users. I suppose only time will tell when the device is finally delivered to the masses.

LG engineers have been said to have worked closely with Google from the initial stages of development to ensure that the LG G Watch worked perfectly with Android Wear. This makes the LG G Watch as LG’s fourth device developed in close collaboration with Google, where the previous three models would be the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, shared, “The opportunity to work with Google on LG G Watch was the perfect chance for LG to really pull out all stops in both design and engineering. With the LG G Watch, LG is continuing the milestones we’ve set in wearables following in the footsteps of the world’s first 3G Touch Watch Phone in 2009 and the Prada Link in 2008. We’re confident that a well-designed device has the potential to take the smart wearable market by storm.”

Moto 360 smartwatch announced

moto360Could 2014 be the year of the smartwatch? It very well could be, really, if recent developments are anything to go by. With Google dropping an announcement on their Android Wear platform, here we are with Motorola jumping aboard the smartwatch bandwagon with one of their creations that they have called the Moto 360. The Moto 360 happens to be a timepiece that not only looks good, but it also feels great as it provides you with the kind of information that you need, as and when required.

I suppose you can more or less call the Moto 360 a truly modern timepiece, although it still has a long way to go before it is lumped under the complex timepieces that are created by the likes of Breitling and Rolex. The Moto 360 is designed by Motorola and powered by Android Wear, where it will be able to keep you on time as well as up to date without taking you out of the moment or distracting you. In fact, some might even think of it as sentient to a certain extent, as the Moto 360 is capable of telling you just what you need to know prior to you knowing it yourself via subtle alerts and notifications.

A simple twist of the wrist would allow you to check out just who is the one sending you an email or dropping a phone call, in addition to what time your next meeting at the office is, or to check out a friend’s latest social post. The Moto 360 is also subservient to your voice, where all you need to do is say “Ok Google” and you can fire away questions for it to get stuff done including the likes of scheduling an appointment, sending a text, setting an alarm or taking a note. It remains to be seen just how Motorola will price the Moto 360, but exciting times are ahead of us!

HereO Watch Helps Parents Keep Tabs On Their Kids

Kids are a bundle of energy, joy, and at times, frustration – especially when you are already running late for a particular event, and they are frolicking all over the house – with some of them even indulging in a little bit of hide and seek along the way. And for those moments when you all hit the local mall, it can be quite challenging for a new parent to keep tabs on his or her kid while attempting to do the entire week’s grocery shopping, as it would test that parent’s multitasking ability to the fullest. GPS trackers for kids are not new in the market, but the HereO watch that we are talking about today happens to be one of those devices which ooze with cuteness overload.

Armatix Smart Hand Gun Now for Sale in U.S.

Back in 2010, we first talked about an interesting smart firearm that came from a company called Armatix. That gun was designed to fire only when the person was wearing a watch fitted with an RFID sensor inside. Without the watch on the wrist, the gun isn’t functional. The idea was to keep unauthorized users from being able to use the gun.

The Armatix iP1 gun was expected to hit the market in 2010 at a price of nearly $10,000. Well, fast forward four years, and the gun is now available in the US with the Oak Tree Gun Club in LA selling it. Plus, the cost has come down substantially.

The gun is a .22 caliber weapon with a 10-round capacity. The watch and gun are sold separately. The gun sells for $1399, while the watch, which is required to use the gun, sells for another $399. If there’s any real downside to the gun, it’s that a .22 caliber isn’t what most people want for home defense or concealed carry.
