Looking for a new watch? Love video games? Then you’ll love the Classic Arcade watch. Granted, it’s bulky, but the fact that it looks like you’ve got a miniature arcade strapped onto your wrist more than makes up for it.
The tiny joystick is ornamental, but every press of the red button makes a “pew” sound effect and lights up the watch’s display so you can check what time it is. You won’t find numbers on the watch; instead, you’ll be able to tell what time it is based on the positions of the tiny spaceship and the asteroid that’s in pursuit of it.

The smart watch is one peripheral that has not really caught on, although it is one interesting device which has spawned its fair number of versions from various manufacturers. We have seen the likes of the Pebble and Samsung Galaxy Gear, so what about this particular model which is known as the My Kronoz? The £69.99 My Kronoz smart watch happens to be a sleek and affordable entry for those who want to dip their toes into the world of smart watches, as it opens up the door for one to manage incoming calls directly from your wrist itself.
The My Kronoz smart watch will hook up to your smartphone via a Bluetooth connection, where it sports a 10 meter working range – just like all Bluetooth devices out there. It is capable of vibrating whenever there is an incoming call to function as a way of alerting you, the wearer, while showing off the incoming call’s ID or number on its OLED display so that you need not take out the smartphone itself to check out just who has made that phone call. Not only that, it comes with a classic Casio look that carries a retro slant to things. The internal battery is said to last up to 3 days on a single charge, now how about that?

Can you tell the time based on scent alone? People encounter different smells throughout the day. From the smell of freshly-brewed coffee to car exhaust or printer toner, it’s all in a day’s work for some.
Hardware designer and physical computing lecturer Aisen Caro Chacin stripped away the specifics and went with common and general smells for her concept watch called Scent Rhythm.
The wristwatch is unusual in the sense that it does away with hour and minute hands in favor of a four-chambered timepiece that emits distinct smells at certain times of day to indicate the current time – or rather, the current time period.
The watch is attuned to a person’s circadian rhythm, or internal body clock, which regulates the 24-hour cycle of the body’s biological processes. Correspondingly, the watch keeps track of time in four segments of six hours each, and triggers the related scent emitter. From 6 am to midday, or the rise period, the Scent Rhythm emits whiffs of coffee with caffeine.
Scent Rhythm isn’t for sale, although design files and its parts list are available on Aisen’s website, in case you want to find out more about its inner workings and how it was made.

He’s got the whole world in his hands, but this watch has the entire solar system on its face. It’s not just a plain old picture of the sun and planets, either. It’s an actual, moving model of planets moving around the sun – and in real-time, too!
The watch, called the Complication Poétique Midnight Planétarium, was designed by Van Cleef & Arpels and costs a whopping $245,000! It’s aptly named, because the movement can be described as such: poetic.
Think of how awesome it would be to have a view of the planets’ actual current alignment with every glance at your wrist. The shooting star on the face is what tells you the regular time in hours and minutes.
So while Mercury will make a lap around the watch’s face in just 88 days, Venus will require 224, and Earth of course does it in exactly a year. Saturn, on the other hand, the farthest planet from the sun included on this piece, won’t make it back to its starting position for a whopping 29 and a half years.
Ahh, if only I had $245 grand in the bank.
