Street Fighter Will Not Be Arriving On The Wii U

Street Fighter Will Not Be Arriving On The Wii UWhile Nintendo’s own lineup of games are pretty popular in their own right, sometimes gamers just want to play something else, but unfortunately for them, big name developers such as Bethesda and Crytek appear to be passing on the chance to develop for the Wii U. Now it looks like Capcom can be added to the list as it seems that the company has no plans to bring their Street Fighter franchise to the Wii U anytime soon. This is according to the game’s executive producer, Yoshinori Ono, in response to a fan’s question.

According to Ono, “We apologize that we don’t have plan abou [sic] it at this moment.” Basically what this means in terms of latest games is that gamers who were hoping they would see Ultra Street Fighter 4 make its way onto the Wii U would be out of luck. Nintendo’s Wii U console seems to be going through a spell of bad luck lately, only managing a somewhat lackluster 160,000 units in the previous quarter, and with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles set to be released soon, we can’t imagine things will start looking up, but who knows things could turn around with Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo’s President Does Not Believe The Wii U’s Price Is An Issue

Nintendos President Does Not Believe The Wii Us Price Is An IssueWhile Nintendo’s Wii and Wii U consoles have pretty fun party games, it is safe to say that the more “hardcore” gamer tends to prefer consoles like the PlayStation or Xbox, and this is evidenced by the Wii U’s lack of sales, with the company only managing to move 160,000 units in the past three months. So what is the problem here? Why isn’t the Wii U doing as well as Nintendo intended? Nintendo had previously suggested that the 2011 Tohoku earthquake was one of the reasons why sales of the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U were sluggish, but some are thinking perhaps price could have been an issue.

However Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, dismissed those claims and stated that price was not an issue for the Wii U. According to Iwata (via CVG), “If the price is actually an issue [with Wii U], then there is some contradiction between the current sales balance between the Basic and Premium versions of the Wii U […] The basic version should have sold a lot, but the fact of the matter is that people are buying more of the premium version. So the issue is not there.” What do you guys think? Why isn’t the Wii U catching on? Will titles such as the upcoming Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. help turn things around?

Nintendo Wii U cost isn’t the reason for poor sales, says Iwata

It’s no secret that Wii U sales are going downhill, and many critics are suggesting that a price drop of the console will boost the number of units that the company sells. However, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says that the pricing model of the Wii U isn’t the issue, but rather the relatively low number […]

Wii U Games Not On Bethesda’s Radar At The Moment

Wii U Games Not On Bethesdas Radar At The MomentThe Nintendo Wii U, with all its best intentions, isn’t catching on as well as Nintendo had hoped, leading to at least one major retailer in the UK dropping the console from its outlets. We’re not sure why this is the case, although some have cited the lack of big named titles as being one of the reasons why people are holding out for Sony and Microsoft’s offering, and it looks like Bethesda’s latest announcement will not be doing Nintendo any favors either.

Speaking to Joystiq at this year’s Quakecon, Bethesda’s VP of PR and marketing, Pete Hines, revealed that the company has no plans to bring Wii U ports of The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and The Evil Within. Hines was quoted as saying, “None of the games we’ve announced are being developed for the Wii U, so it’s guaranteed that none of those games are coming to Wii U. Will any future ones come out? I can’t say for sure, in our near-term focus it’s not on our radar.” Hines also went on to state that it was a “hardware thing” that held them back from publishing games on the Wii U.

Wii U “hardware limitations” count console out for Bethesda games

Nintendo shouldn’t hope for any Wii U love from games publisher Bethesda, with the company blaming hardware limitations for its decision not to include the console on its roadmap. “In our near term focus it’s not on our radar” Bethesda VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines told Joystiq recently, describing the decision as “largely […]

Pikmin 3 Now Available For Nintendo Wii U

Nintendo announced Pikmin 3 during E3 2013, and since then we’ve been keeping a close eye on the next sequel for the popular Pikmin franchise. Nintendo announced just this past April the game would be releasing on August 4, and that’s exactly what happened yesterday as thousands of Pikmin fans were able to spend the entire day ordering around their Pikmin to do their bidding, that is, as long as you didn’t have work or any other big summer plans to take part in.

Pikmin 3 introduces a number of improvements over previous versions of the game as you’ll explore PNF-404 with a team of Koppai explorers who are looking to discover new sources of food seeing as their native planet is suffering a severe shortage. Along the way, Alph, Charlie and Brittany will discover new life on the planet, known as Pikmin, and will also come in contact with new breeds of Pikmin never seen before in previous versions of Pikmin. The explorers will also learn of some other untold secrets of planet PNF-404, and possibly even meet up with everyone’s favorite explorer, Captain Olimar.

The Wii U Needs to Be Replaced By A Real Contender – Now

Can we all finally admit that the Wii U is in huge trouble? I mean, for months I’ve been saying it here on SlashGear, and yet, the company’s most ardent supporters have continued to say that the console will be just fine. But again, that argument flies in the face of the facts. Nintendo earlier […]
