Windows Phone 8.1 Core CompletedIt was just yesterday that the editor-in-chief of WPCentral, Daniel Rubino, tweeted that Windows Phone 8.1 could actually miss its scheduled release in the form of a developer preview during the Microsoft Build developers conference that is happening pretty soon. Well, it seems that Rubino has stepped forward to clarify some details, touting that Windows Phone 8.1 is well on its way for a rollout later this summer.

    HTC hasn’t exactly been churning out Windows Phone devices, but time and again it has reiterated its commitment to Microsoft’s mobile platform. Later this year the company is expected to launch a new WIndows Phone flagship, so far no details about the device have surfaced. If rumors coming in from China are correct, it is possible that HTC might borrow design elements from its latest and greatest Android flagship, the All New HTC One M8, which was unveiled and released yesterday.

    VLC For Windows Phone 8.1 Revealed In ScreenshotA couple of weeks ago, the team at VLC released the VLC app designed for Microsoft’s Windows 8’s Metro UI. The app has been in development for quite a while now and we’re sure Windows 8 users are probably happy to finally get their hands on the app.

    However back when VLC announced they would be developing the app, they also opened themselves up to the possibility that the app could be developed for Windows Phone as well, although recently they stated that the app would only arrive for Windows Phone 8.1, citing performance issues as one of the reasons.     Well according to the folks at WPCentral, they claim that according to their sources, the Samsung ATIV SE will be launching on Verizon come 18th of April where the handset will retail for $599 off-contract.     Huawei CMO Thinks Its Hard To Differentiate Windows Phone BrandsIf there is one feature of Windows Phone that is both a pro and a con, it would be the fact that the user interface looks too similar. On one hand it creates a sense of uniformity which is great because that means that people will be able to identify it as Windows Phone. On the other hand by making all phones look the same, there is less personalization involved.

    This is versus Android handsets where user interfaces from different OEMs are wildly different from one another, not to mention the extensive customization options offered by the Android platform allow users to create a truly unique looking handset.     Earlier this month Huawei announced its plans to launch a dual boot Windows Phone and Android device. The idea behind this device to give users more flexibility and choice on a single gadget, eliminating the need to carry to separate devices for each platform. Less than two weeks after this statement was made by Huawei CMO Shao Yang, the company said in a statement today that it has no plans of launching a dual-OS smartphone “in the near future.”
