The fabled Nokia tablet is finally out in the real world, going by the name Nokia Lumia 2520 and looking every bit like the Lumia smartphone-inspired slate the world expected. What might not have been expected quite so much by the Nokia-hungry fans in our environment was the keyboard add-on. This Nokia Power Keyboard attaches […]
Up until now, you’d have to access MediaFire’s web interface if you want to use its cloud storage service on your computer. While the browser-based UI isn’t anything complex, the company’s new OS X and Windows apps make storing files in the cloud comparably easier. Similar to Dropbox and Google Drive, MediaFire’s desktop clients integrate your cloud-based folders with OS X Finder or Windows Explorer. Both versions automatically sync across devices whenever you upload, and they let you share files straight from your desktop with social media contacts. As a bonus, you can use their camera icons to take screen snapshots, which you can then annotate (à la Skitch) before sharing with friends.
The apps are now available for download, but as they’re still in beta, they might come with some performance hiccups. If you’re an early adopter who wouldn’t mind 50GB of free storage space (higher capacities come at a price), though, click through the source below.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Cracked Already
Posted in: Today's ChiliThis article was written on October 28, 2008 by CyberNet.
Adobe has presented hackers with yet another challenge thanks to their new breed of Creative Suite 4 (CS4) applications that were released less than two weeks ago. They try do everything they can to stop software pirates from stealing their programs, but it’s inevitable that someone somewhere will find a workaround.
Unfortunately for Adobe that time came way too soon with CS4. It didn’t take long for the bulky downloads to get transformed into torrents, and then shared across networks worldwide. The Windows version of the Adobe CS4 Master Suite weighs in at 5.6GB, while the Mac version is nearly 7GB. It’s not exactly something you’d want to download via dial-up.
The catch… most downloads being posted merely contain trial versions of each Adobe CS4 application. Working cracks and key generators are available separately though. Some cracks are designed to actually patch the executable files for various programs (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc…), while others take a more interesting approach. In fact one version doesn’t have to modify any of the files.
The first workaround that was found uses a key generator that spits out keys for both Windows and Mac versions of the Master Suite. Once the software tries to contact Adobe, however, the keys will get deactivated and you’ll have until the end of the year before Photoshop and the other apps will stop working. Ingeniously someone came up with a way to get around this by modifying the operating system’s HOSTS file (available on both Mac and Windows) so that any requests to Adobe’s server’s never leave the comfort of your machine. If it can’t contact Adobe then it can’t deactivate the software.
Your activation system was a valiant effort Adobe, but it looks like it will be another 18-months (or whenever CS5 is released) before you’ll get another shot at stopping the pirates.

Parrot is a company known for a couple of products, such as the AR.Drone 2.0 and the Zik headphones which stood out partially thanks to its rather clean and minimalist design by Philippe Starck. The downside to these two products that added functionality that came from its accompanying apps were limited to just iOS and Android devices, but then again given that iOS and Android are the two largest smartphone platforms around, it made sense from a business point of view. Well the good news is that with Windows Phone starting to gain some traction, Parrot has teamed up with Microsoft and have announced Windows and Windows Phone app compatibility for both products. I’ve run into the situation before where I’ve needed to empty the Recycle Bin for all users on a multi-user computer. After doing a lot of searching I realized that the only real way to empty the Recycle Bin for all users on a computer (without logging in as each user) is to completely remove the Recycle Bin directory from the PC. This will delete all files in the Recycle Bin for all users, and then Windows will just recreate the directory when it is needed again.
So how do you do it? You need to open a command prompt window as an administrator, and then the directory you need to remove varies depending on the OS you’re working with:
- For Windows 7 or Server 2008 run this command from the command prompt:
rd /s c:\$Recycle.Bin
- For Windows XP or Server 2003 run this command from the command prompt:
rd /s c:\recycler
Note: These commands reference the “c:\” drive. Each drive keeps its own Recycle Bin so you’ll need to run this for each drive letter that you want to empty.
After running the command you may notice that the Recycle Bin icon may not refresh immediately to reflect that it is empty. This is because you’re using a non-standard procedure to empty the Recycle Bin, but if you open it up the icon will refresh and you should see that there are no files in there.

Last month we found out that the PlayStation 4′s DualShock 4 controller more or less works with a PlayStation 3. PCSX2 forum member InhexSTER made a tool allowing you to use the controller with Windows games.
In simple terms, what the tool does is it maps the DualShock 4′s controls to a virtual Xbox 360 controller, which many PC games support. Check out InhexSTER’s video below for a demo:
You can download InhexSTER’s tool here. InhexSTER says that the DualShock 4 does work with some PC games out of the box, so you might want to try doing it the vanilla way first. Also, PC Gamer notes that you’ll only be able to use the DualShock 4 wirelessly if your PC is on Windows 8 or 8.1. If you’re on Windows 7 you’ll have to keep the controller plugged in to your PC via a microUSB-to-USB cable.

Windowing has been a familiar sight in Chrome OS for a while now, but it hasn’t always been easy to find the window you’re looking for. That search should be much quicker if you’re running the just-launched Chrome OS 32 beta, though. The test release brings Vista-style window thumbnails when using Alt-Tab to switch tasks, and the overview button now shows an organized view of all those panes. Early adopters can get the beta today, although it’s not currently available for either the original Acer C7 or the HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook.

Search for Text in Files
Posted in: Today's ChiliThis article was written on October 05, 2010 by CyberNet.
One of my favorite features in Vista/Windows 7 is the built-in search utility. It makes finding things a lot faster, and in some cases it can even search the content of a file. By default, however, it supports a limited number of file types when it comes to searching a file’s content, but that is where the MariusSoft File Searcher comes in.
This application doesn’t require that you index the files on your computer before hand, and it is surprisingly fast. For example, I was searching for some code in ASPX files and it took just a few seconds to sift through a few thousand files spread out across hundreds of different directories. Granted only about 30% of them were actually ASPX files, but it was impressive nonetheless.
Here are a list of features for File Searcher:
- Search multiple locations at once
- Filter file by name/extenstion using simple text or regular expressions
- Filter file creation/access/modify dates within date range
- Search files for multiple content criteria
- Search for simple text or regular expressions
- Support for popular formats including PDF, Office, HTML, RTF, TXT, and many more
- View results in notepad, open containing folder, or open file in native program
- All results are sortable
- Multi threaded to take advantage of multi core CPUs
If you’re simply looking to search filenames I’d stick with the built-in searching capabilities of Windows 7, but between the speed and file compatibility I’d say this blows away all of the native content search capabilities. Take it for a spin if you find yourself looking for some text inside of files.

The very first modern Nokia tablet will be arriving in the form of the Nokia Lumia 2520, and it’ll be hitting both the likes of AT&T and Verizon here in the United States. With Verizon, the tablet has been announced today as coming on the 21st of November and offered in both on- and off-contract […]
The more crowded the streets get, the harder it is to find a decent parking space. If you’ve got an extra parking spot, then you’re in a position that’s envied by most who own a car.
So why not make a few extra bucks off of it and help others find a spot at the same time? That’s something you can do with Park Circa.
It’s an app that lets people find and rent out parking spaces. It’s simple enough to use. If you need a parking spot, enter the location where you’d like to park and search through available spaces that have been listed. If you have an extra spot, list it on the database as being available for rent.
Park Circa is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices. You can download the app here.
