Titanfall Headed To Xbox One, 360, PC On March 11, 2014

One of the most highly-anticipated Xbox One, Xbox 360 & PC first-person shooter game has got to be Titanfall as we certainly have been smitten with all of the content we’ve seen regarding the game over the past few months. We know the game will be a serious multiplayer experience as players will run around as pilots who are able to call down giant mechs called Titans that can do some serious damage to enemies, but up until now, we didn’t know when the game would be released. Respawn Entertainment has just announced Titanfall will be released on March 11, 2014 in North America and March 13 in Europe. (more…)

    Xbox 360 Receives PBS App

    Xbox 360 Receives PBS App

Gamers are probably very well aware they can use their consoles for other things besides playing video games. Microsoft is actually betting big on the future of the Xbox One doing everything else in addition to playing video games. Netflix, Hulu and even The CW have their own dedicated applications that allow Xbox 360 owners to watch streaming video on their respective networks, and PBS is now making its content available as well. Are Consoles Pushing Gamers to the PC?

There are PC gamers and there are console gamers. The console gamers would rather not get involved with PC gaming, while PC gamers look at those who invest and consoles and can’t help but wonder why they would invest in a device that won’t change over a significant period of time. Years ago, PC gamers […]

Xbox 360 “Games with Gold” extended indefinitely

Microsoft has extended its Games with Gold program, making the Xbox Live Gold bonus an ongoing perk for members. Launched earlier this year, at E3 2013, with the promise that it would run until the end of 2013, Games with Gold gives Xbox 360 owners two free games each month to download. Now, Microsoft says, […]

Microsoft Xbox 360 Has Sold 80 Million And Counting

Microsoft Xbox 360 Has Sold 80 Million And CountingMicrosoft’s Xbox One gaming console is expected to see a release in November and based on this, we can expect that Xbox 360 sales will slow down as gamers start turning towards the next-gen console. However as it stands, Microsoft has announced that they have managed to sell 80 million Xbox 360 units worldwide, although the catch here is that the 80 million figure is based on the number of units that they have sold to retailers. What this means is that while technically these are considered sales for Microsoft, retailers might not have sold all of the units they ordered, so obviously there is a good chance that there are still a lot of unsold Xbox 360 units out there.

At the same time retailers will probably not be buying as many Xbox 360 units if they do not believe that they are able to sell them, so we expect there are pretty healthy sales figures in there as well. Microsoft also acknowledges that they were beaten by Sony in terms of console sales back in September, but claim that they are still maintaining the title of top-selling console in the US for 2013, and given that this is a title Microsoft has been holding for 32 months, we can comfortably agree with their assessment.

PS3 Dethrones Xbox 360 As Top Selling Console For September

PS3 Dethrones Xbox 360 As Top Selling Console For SeptemberFor quite a while now Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has been holding the number one position in the US in terms of sales, but it looks like after a 32-month long streak, Sony has finally broken Microsoft’s streak and now claims the best-selling console in the US for the month of September. This is according to the latest figures released by NPD. According to NPD analyst (via Gamesindustry.biz), Liam Callahan, one of the reasons why Sony managed to break Microsoft’s stranglehold was due in part to Rockstar’s recently released Grand Theft Auto 5’s PlayStation 3 bundle. Granted that the game was released on both consoles, we guess the bundle made the purchase a little more attractive for gamers who wanted to play the game but did not own a console.

Presumably some of these gamers are PC gamers who were hoping for the game to see a release on the PC, but as it stands Rockstar has no plans to release the game for the PC platform. In any case what do you guys think? Will Sony be able to hold onto the crown for long? Or will the Xbox 360 reclaim their former spot next month? With the PS4 and Xbox One coming it, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top then!

Xbox 360 takes hit as PlayStation 3 becomes top US console

Microsoft has enjoyed a long run as maker of the most popular video game console in the United States, with the Xbox 360 consistently trumping Sony’s console month after month. All good things comes to an end, however, and the Xbox 360′s reign is over — for now, at least — with the latest numbers […]

50% More Gamers Prefer Xbox 360 For Online Gaming Than The PS3

50% More Gamers Prefer Xbox 360 For Online Gaming Than The PS3When it comes to playing online on console, Sony PlayStation gamers get PSN, while Xbox gamers get Xbox Live. Given that Xbox Live requires a paid subscription to play, and PSN is basically free, you would think that gamers would flock more to the free option, right? Well interestingly enough it turns out that more gamers play on the Xbox Live compared to the PSN. This is according to NPD’s recent “Online Gaming” report for 2013 where they found that nearly 50% more online console gamers favored the Xbox 360 compared to the PlayStation 3.

While the Xbox 360 is topping sales in the US, the PS3 did have the Xbox 360 beat when it comes to worldwide sales, suggesting that there would be more players, which we guess would lead to more players on PSN compared to Xbox Live. It is unclear as to why gamers prefer the Xbox 360, but some reasons offered include how the PS3 is viewed more as a entertainment device versus a more game-focused one. Not to mention the hacking of the PlayStation Network from back in 2011 might have contributed to gamers preferring the more “secure” Xbox 360. What do you guys think? Is there a reason you might prefer the Xbox 360 for online gaming versus the PS3?
