Back at CES in January, Microsoft’s Peter Moore announced that Zune games would be coming. In fact, they would be coming within 18 months. Thus far, Zune sales haven’t exactly been anything to write home about, but those that have made the purchase give the impression that they are satisfied.
If Microsoft managed to come up with amazing games for the Zune, it could potentially help out their sales. So far I’ve heard it being compared to the Playstation Portable. While that may be a far stretch, anything is possible. If they went as far as integrating it with Xbox Live, that would definitely give them a boost.
As ‘I Started Something’ points out, Microsoft does mean serious business when it comes to video gaming capabilities, and hopefully the team in charge of developing these games can get a lot done in 18 months. Back in January around the same time that Peter Moore made the announcement, Microsoft posted a job under the title of “Software Development Engineer in Test.”
The job description clearly explains that you would join the “Zune effort and help build the next generation of portable digital entertainment. Be a part of this start-up team which will reshape the way people engage with their games, music, and videos.”
Another job posting more recently is calling for a Branding Manager that would be responsible for “managing and developing Zune into a world-class entertainment brand.” It poses this scenario to possible applicants:
“Imagine if you could connect to your entertainment wherever you are, on the TV, on your portable media device, on your mobile phone, your Xbox or at the PC– your entertainment at your fingertips.”
If they were able to take what they have imagined and turned it into something real, they’d probably be sweeping up sales like crazy. “If” is the key word, however. Anybody up for Halo on the Zune?

If your design is selected, it will appear for all Xbox One gamers to use as their Gamerpic. Plus, you’ll get a free Xbox One controller “to commemorate the win,” Microsoft wrote on […]
Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014
— Larry Hryb (@majornelson) November 14, 2013
We have brought you word that Microsoft’s “Games with Gold” program for Xbox 360 owners will now be extended to include the Xbox One, although this will happen only sometime next year. Larry Hryb’s Twitter feed made this particular announcement, where the Xbox Live director of programming mentioned, “Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014.”
Apart from that, Hryb did not reveal any more details on just how the inner machinations of the Xbox One version would be, although we are quite sure that additional information will be shared sometime later next year. Here is a little bit of background information – Microsoft began the “Games for Gold” program for Xbox 360 owners in the summer of 2013, where paid Xbox Live Gold subscribers were able to gain access to a couple of selected downloadable games – without having to fork out a single cent. Yes sir, this means you can download two games for nothing for approximately 2 weeks before it returns to a paid game status.

This afternoon the folks at Valve have let it be known that they’re rolling in with a cool 65 million users total for the Steam gaming network. This number can be compared to the most recent report from Sony on the PlayStation Network working with 110 million users and Microsoft reporting that they’re in at […]
Xbox One And Xbox Live Apparently Very Buggy, Could Pose Problems At Launch [Rumor]
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen new products and services launch, there is bound to be teething problems and we guess Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One and Xbox Live will not be any different, at least that’s according to a NeoGAF user who posted the rumor on his blog. According to the poster, his information comes by way of an anonymous developer working with the Xbox One who claims that both the Xbox One’s operating system and Xbox Live service for the Xbox One are in an extremely buggy state at the moment and it could actually be months before both the console and the online service will begin to function as it should. According to the anonymous developer, “The system OS and network integration was written by a group of people who do not play games. They don’t understand why things were set up in the ways they were designed by J Allard back in 2005.”
When asked if it was possible that these bugs were the result of Microsoft backtracking on their DRM policies, the developer stated that “this was happening either way.” Take these statements with a grain of salt for now, but like we said, most products and services usually launch with problems at the start, such as servers overloading and causing gamers to be unable to login, or software whose bugs were not caught during the beta phases, and etc., and it is usually after a while that things begin to settle down, but either way we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled during console’s launch to see if any of these statements are true or if they are simply fabricated to make Microsoft look bad.

An update to Grand Theft Auto Online for both PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers should fix missing cars, mods that disappear, and an exploit which allowed the same vehicle to be sold multiple times, as developer Rockstar Games addresses the issues in the overwhelmed multiplayer title. The glitches were down to a cloud save failure, […]
Microsoft had previously announced its upcoming next-generation console, the Xbox One, would launch with a feature that would allow Xbox Live users to identify each other by their real names instead of their Gamertags. If you were hoping to finally learn the real name of your pal BenDoverx, it looks like you won’t be doing so when the Xbox One launches as a Microsoft representative recently told Kotaku the company would be missing its deadline to provide the feature in time for the Xbox One launch. At the beginning of this month – a fortnight ago, to be exact, we brought you word that Halo 3 would be free for Xbox 360 Gold members on October 16th. Well, we have already seen the calendar turn 16 for the month of October, so just how true was that particular bit of reporting? 100% true, apparently, as existing subscribers to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold service are now able to download as well as play the full version of Halo 3. Just in case you were wondering, Halo 3 is not all that new, it was the 2007 Xbox 360 entry, so I guess you can more or less consider this to be a bit of retro gaming on the side. So, if you happen to be an Xbox Live Gold member, you will be able to download Halo 3 between now and October 31st.
On normal days, Halo 3 would require you to spend $14.99 in order to download it from the Games on Demand service, but all of that has been negated at the moment if you happen to be in the right membership tier. This is due to it being part of Microsoft’s recent “Games for Gold” program which will offer at the bare minimum a couple of free games each month from the Xbox 360 catalog to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Of course, this means if you want any of the post-release DLC content, you will have to fork out money for those.
