PC Support For Xbox One Control Coming “Very Soon”

PC Support For Xbox One Control Coming Very SoonThere are some PC games that are better off being played with a gamepad. Driving games, arcade style games, and fighting games are great examples of such games that would be better enjoyed with a gamepad. Now there are many options available for PC gamers at the moment, but if you were hoping to use your Xbox One’s controller with your computer, you might be pleased to learn that compatibility will be coming “very soon”.

This is according to Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb who responded to a gamer who was lamenting the lack of PC support for the Xbox One controller, to which Hyrb replied by saying, “Soon. Very soon.” Unfortunately he did not expanded on his cryptic statement, so we have no idea how soon is soon. Could it be that the update could come during E3 during Microsoft’s presentation? Perhaps, but until we hear otherwise, don’t get your hopes up just yet.

Support for the PC was reported back in 2013 where it was expected to arrive in 2014, so we guess it should be soon. This isn’t to say that the Xbox One controllers aren’t compatible – they are, it’s just that the process to get it working on the PC might not be everyone’s cup of tea, especially if they’re not very technical, not to mention it is an unofficial so perhaps it might not be as reliable.

In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for when the update/drivers will arrive that will add PC support, so check back with us at a later date for the details! In the meantime gamers have the option of going the unofficial route, or get their hands on an Xbox 360 controller which works fine on the PC.

Optional Kinect Could Lead To More Xbox One Games, Microsoft Claims

Optional Kinect Could Lead To More Xbox One Games, Microsoft ClaimsWhen Microsoft made the decision to remove the Kinect from the Xbox One bundle, making it an optional purchase for gamers, we’re sure some were worried that this was limiting to developers. After all if the Kinect is an optional accessory, why bother developing for it if not many gamers have a Kinect in the first place, right?

Well Microsoft begs to differ, and in a recent interview with OXM, Microsoft’s European Studios boss Phil Harrison revealed that the opposite was true. In fact he believes that by removing the Kinect, it could lead to even more games being created for the Xbox One. Basically the idea is that with the Xbox One now cheaper, it could lead to more gamers purchasing the console, which would then encourage developers to create more games for the platform.

“And fundamentally that is good for opening up the Xbox One ecosystem – the more consumers who buy Xbox One, it’s a virtuous cycle for more developers to make and more consumers to play games, and that is what we’re committed to achieving and continuing.” So far there has been evidence to suggest that there is an increased demand for the console.

This is according to video games retailer, GameStop who revealed that they have been receiving a greater amount of interest for the Xbox One after Microsoft decided to remove the Kinect and reduce the price. Harrison goes on to reassure gamers that they will not be abandoning the Kinect and that there are still big plans for the accessory.

Phil Spencer Admits More Needs To Be Done For The Xbox One

Phil Spencer Admits More Needs To Be Done For The Xbox OneWhile the console wars is far from over, so far it seems that the Sony PlayStation 4 is currently leading the Microsoft Xbox One in terms of sales, at least to date. However given that both consoles are about half a year old, we reckon that it’s still a bit too early to tell which console will ultimately “win” at the end of the day.

Perhaps both consoles need more game and more exclusives and mature before we can really see the difference, but in the meantime Microsoft’s Phil Spencer admits that there is more that Microsoft needs to do. This was acknowledged by the man himself on Twitter where he responded to a fan by saying, “Definitely in to win. We need to do more, that’s 100% of my focus.”

Given that Phil Spencer has recently taken over the Xbox division, we expect that he is more committed than ever to making Microsoft’s latest console a success. We’re not sure what more can Microsoft do – perhaps a price drop might encourage higher adoption rates (it is about $100 more than a PS4). Perhaps the console needs more exclusive games as well.

Titanfall is currently the latest exclusive for the Xbox platform (and the PC) and while the game did help to boost Xbox One sales in some parts of the world, we guess it wasn’t enough to beat out Sony’s 7 million sales. What do you guys think? What should Microsoft do to help encourage adoption?

The Xbox One Still Lags Behind The PS4

Xbox Controller Titanfall was supposed to change it all, but it didn’t work. So far, Microsoft announced that it has shipped 5 million Xbox One units to retailers. In comparison, Sony has sold 7 million PS4 units to customers. It doesn’t look good for Microsoft as the company doesn’t even say how many people actually bought an Xbox One. Microsoft’s announcement fits well with NPD’s… Read More

Titanfall On Xbox One Is Top Selling Title

Titanfall On Xbox One Is Top Selling TitleYes, we have heard about how well the Xbox One has done in terms of its “sales” – actually, Microsoft revealed that 5 million Xbox Ones were shipped to retailers, so as to the total number of those shipped that ended up in the hands of actual gamers remain to be seen. Its arch rival, the Sony PS4, however, has sold 7 million units and counting. Nevertheless, we do know that having the right software will also help propel the sales of hardware, and Titanfall is one of such titles that has helped shift a number of Xbox One units recently, at least in the UK.

The folks over at Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts ought to be congratulated, as Titanfall for Xbox One is the number one selling game in March, at least this is what the NPD Group figures showed as released.

Also, I suppose with the introduction of Titanfall on the Xbox One, gamers happen to spend more time with their beloved console, where the NPD states that each fan spends on average, five hours per day on the Xbox One, with a collective total of over 1 billion hours of time spent in games and apps on the console. Have you given Titanfall a go yet, if you haven’t done so already? [Press Release]
