5 Million Xbox One Consoles Shipped To Date

5 Million Xbox One Consoles Shipped To DateJust the other day we reported that the Sony PlayStation 4 had managed to sell over 7 million units around the world, but what about Microsoft’s Xbox One? The last we heard from Microsoft was back in January where they announced 3.9 million units sold to date. However Microsoft has recently posted on its blog their latest figures and according to the company, they have managed to sell 5 million Xbox One consoles since its launch.

However Microsoft did state that these sales were to retailers, so it does not necessarily mean that there are actually 5 million Xbox One consoles that have been bought be the end-user. In fact there is a good chance that number could be lower, but then again Microsoft would only supply their retailers with that many consoles only if they saw some kind of demand, right? Either way we guess it still does not match up to the PlayStation 4.

This is despite the fact that the recently released Titanfall game helped to boost Xbox One sales in the UK. In the meantime, NPD has also provided some figures of their own regarding the sales of the Xbox One in the US. According to their findings, the Xbox One managed to sell 311,000 units in March and has averaged 2.9 games sold per console.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the Xbox 360 is still selling pretty well and based on NPD’s figures, Microsoft managed to sell 111,000 units in March, which is apparently more than any other seventh generation console. Microsoft also appears to be dominating the software market share at 49% which is a combination of both Xbox One and Xbox 360 games.

Interesting figures and while it might still be too early to tell who has won the console race, it seems that Sony does have the lead at the moment. Perhaps when more games are released and both consoles hit maturity, that’s when we will be able to see which platform truly shines.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Indefinitely Delayed And Possibly Cancelled For The Xbox One

The Amazing Spider Man 2 Indefinitely Delayed And Possibly Cancelled For The Xbox OneBad news Spider-Man fans, it seems that if you were looking forward to playing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on the Xbox One console, you might be disappointed to learn that it seems that the game might have been cancelled for the platform. This is according to a recent sighting by NeoGAF users who spotted the changes on the game’s website.

The game was originally pegged for a release in the US on the 29th of April where it was expected to make its way onto platforms like the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, the PC, the Wii U, and the Nintendo 3DS handheld console. However with the recent sighting, it seems that all the platforms are good to go minus the Xbox One.

In addition, online retailers like Amazon UK and EBGames Australia have also removed the Xbox One version of the game from their listings, but have maintained the date for all other versions. It is unclear as to why Activision might have delayed or possibly even cancelled the game for the Xbox One.

In a statement released by the publisher, “We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One. When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD.” It sounds a little ominous and it almost sounds as though the game might have been put on hold indefinitely. After all if the game needed a little bit more work, they would have just said so, right?

Xbox One April 2015 Update Drops

The latest update for the Xbox One game console began rolling out this week. The update is bringing with it several new features that will improve the console and make it better for owners. The update includes changes to game and app saves with a new progress bar. That progress bar shows you the status of game saved and makes it easy to tell what games and apps are being updated.

Friends’ notifications were improved with new indications that let you see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. Friends who are in multiplayer will also be identified on the list with the new update. Another important update is the addition of Kinect voice and motion tracking. Microsoft has tweaked the functionality of Kinect to have fewer false positives with non-hand objects triggering gesture commands.

New compression algorithms for the GameDVR are included and the controller and headset firmware has been updated for better communications. Xbox One consoles now also have silent reboots after updates so the system returns to standby automatically after the update is applied.
