Ah, statistics. There are always various angles to a particular story, and the NPD Group’s numbers for January 2014 tell a very interesting story. It seems that the Sony PS4 is leading the pack (of three, although other purists might decide to rule the Nintendo Wii U out and turning this into a two horse race) when it comes to next generation consoles, but Microsoft’s Xbox One is no slouch either – it seems that the Xbox One is hot on the PS4’s tail, and has led “US game sales” according to Microsoft. This leads to a very interesting phenomenon – it would translate to each Xbox One owner purchasing more games on average compared to the PS4 owner, no?

There are many different ways in which one can control the Xbox One console, such as through vocal commands and Kinect gestures, as well as through the Xbox One controller itself. Well what if you wanted something a little more traditional? Like a remote control, for instance? Well thanks to a listing on Amazon Canada’s website, a pre-order page for a certain Xbox One Media remote was sighted where the device (pictured above) was priced at $24.99 and revealed that the accessory could see a release on the 4th of March. The page has since been taken down, possibly due to the fact that it might have gone up a little earlier than expected.
The remote itself seems pretty barebones and does not appear to do more than just control the console with the basic functions, but we guess it can be pretty handy for those who would prefer using a remote to navigate the console’s entertainment features, or for those living in markets where vocal commands aren’t available yet. The Xbox One Media remote is not the only Xbox One accessory that Microsoft has planned at the moment as the company has revealed that they will also be releasing an Xbox One headset and headset adapter in the near future. So, who’s looking forward to an Xbox One remote control?

Considering that there was a huge PS3 versus Xbox 360 debate back in the day, we guess we can’t be surprised that there is now a PS4 versus Xbox One debate going on. Both consoles were launched at roughly the same time and in terms of sales, both consoles seem to be outdoing one another in different markets. For example the Xbox One led the way in terms of Black Friday sales, while the PS4 dominated in the UK. In fact one analyst seems to be believe that the PS4 will outsell the Xbox One eventually, and perhaps it is starting to look that way over in Australia.
Over in Australia, reports claimed that the Xbox One was initially leading the way in terms of sales during the opening weeks, perhaps due to the fact that the PlayStation 4 was constantly out of stock, which might have led to gamers deciding to go for the Xbox One instead, and allowing the Xbox One to play catchup. However a press release by Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 4 has begun to overtake the Xbox One in terms of overall sales, from the date that the console was launched till the week ending 2nd of February. Will this be a trend that we can expect to see in the future? Or will the Xbox One start to catchup at a later date? What do you guys think?

When we conducted our hands-on review of the Xbox One, we found that the Xbox One’s controller was an improvement over the Xbox 360’s, but that being said, it seems that there are still some improvements that could be made, namely in its analog sticks where Titanfall’s design lead, Justin Hendry, found them to be a little too twitchy. The good news is that if you felt the same way about the analog sticks on the Xbox One’s controller, Microsoft will soon be issuing an update that will fix that and offer up more precise controls, and all because of the upcoming Titanfall game.
As it stands Microsoft is set to issue updates to iron out more of the Xbox One’s kinks and apparently it is because of Titanfall, a game which many are very excited about. To that extent they even fixed the Xbox One’s “twitchy” controls at the request of the developers behind the game. According to Hendry who revealed to The Verge that they worked with Microsoft on the changes, “It’s just fixing the controller input, really. It wasn’t really where we felt it should be; it was a little overly twitchy with the current controls. Now it’s fixed. We’re happy with it.” Titanfall is currently in beta and is set for a release on the 11th of March.
