If you’re into wearable cameras, diving underwater, or participate in extreme sports, chances are you might have checked out GoPro’s lineup of cameras which are not only designed to be worn, but are also rugged, allowing them to be used in the most extreme of situations. Now the good news is that if you are the proud owner of a brand new Xbox One gaming console, you might be pleased to learn that a GoPro channel will be making its way onto the Xbox One console in the near future in the spring of 2014. However there were no specific dates mentioned about its upcoming launch, so we guess we will just have to keep an eye out for it.
Like we said given GoPro’s reputation for wearable cameras that can capture extreme sports footage from a first person’s point of view, the GoPro channel for the Xbox One will presumably be related to action sports. However the content released will not be user-generated content, but rather ones put together by GoPro, which we guess will most likely serve as a good way to advertise the company’s products. According to GoPro, this channel is expected to be similar to the channel offered on Virgin America, and if you’ve flown or about to fly with the airline company, you can check it out to get a better idea.
With gamers these days being more demanding and no longer satisfied with just being able to play games, companies such as Sony and Microsoft have started to add more social and entertainment features, providing gamers with an alternative to gaming if they need a break or want to do something else.

Remember earlier we reported that thanks to a sighting on Bethesda’s website, it was suggested that Skyrim could be headed onto next-gen consoles like the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4? Considering that both consoles offer vastly improved graphics and performance over their predecessors, we’re sure many are happy and curious as to how the game might fare on newer consoles. Unfortunately as it turns out, it was simply a mistake, or at least that’s what Bethesda wants us to believe. Taking to Twitter, Bethesda’s Pete Hines revealed that the false listing was due to a bug on their CMS platform, causing it to display additional platforms for some of their games. It certainly sounds like an odd bug but we guess until Bethesda tells us otherwise, that’s the story we’ve got for now.
According to Hines, “We have been working on the CMS that runs our sites. A bug caused platforms that don’t exist to show up for some games Sorry for confusion.” Skyrim was launched on the PC, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3 a while ago. Microsoft’s Xbox platform managed to gain an exclusive over the PS3 and the PC and had DLCs released for their console first. As you might recall Bethesda had a hard time bringing those DLCs over onto the PS3, leaving PlayStation gamers DLC-less while Xbox and PC gamers enjoyed themselves. In any case it looks like the hopes of Xbox One and PS4 gamers have been dashed for now, but what do you guys think? Would you have loved to have Skyrim ported onto next-gen consoles?

In November last year Microsoft finally launched its much awaited gaming console, the Xbox One. In 2013 alone, Microsoft was able to sell three million units of the console, and that figure is bound to go further up in the new year. Launching a product that millions of people around the world are anxiously waiting for is no easy task and there are bound to be a few problems. Several Xbox One owners have complained about the console’s social features, and they will be happy to know that Microsoft plans to fix them in the first major Xbox One update.
In an interview with Engadget, chief product officer of Xbox Marc Whitten said that the company knows few social features are hidden or even harder to use than they were on the Xbox 360, which is why its first major update is going to fix “the Live experience.” Whitten says that he takes complaints against the troublesome Live experience quite personally, given that he has been pivotal in building Xbox Live for over a decade. He says that improving the experience is now a theme that Microsoft will really push on. Whitten also touched on the subject of game streaming, the service has already been delayed, and the company doesn’t seem to have any immediate plans of rolling it out.

I don’t know about you, but generally speaking, all games look a whole lot better at a higher resolution. As to whether they will play better, that remains to be seen. I clearly remember turning down all of the graphical details in Quake to Quake 3 in a deathmatch to exact the best framerate possible. For those who are interested in Alien: Isolation, you will be pleased to hear that this particular title is set to run at 1080p on both the Xbox One and Sony PS4. The thing is, existing generation consoles have yet to be confirmed.
This confirmation of 1080p resolution for Alien: Isolation was confirmed by Creative Assembly, using their official Twitter feed by informing fans that they were “Happy to confirm that the game will run in 1080p on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!” This particular game will continue in the rich history of the Alien series, where you will follow Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda as she creeps around a derelict space station and stumbles upon some Genestealers. Nah, I jest, she was up and about to search for clues for her mother’s whereabouts. Expect Alien: Isolation to launch on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year.

Sony PS4 Sales Leave Xbox One Far Behind With Over 4.2 Million Units Moved In 2013
Posted in: Today's Chili[CES 2014] It has been a while since Sony has talked about PlayStation 4 sales statistics. Microsoft knows that too, and it broke its silence yesterday to announce that in 2013 the company was able to sell over three million Xbox One units, after it was launched in mid-November. We knew that it was just a matter of time before Sony came out with a number of its own, and as it turns out, the number is bigger than Microsoft’s. At CES 2014 today, Sony has formally announced that during the time the PS4 was available in 2013, the company sold over 4.2 million units around the globe.
Though it warrants mentioning here that the PS4 had a bit of a head start. Sony launched its new gaming console on November 15th whereas the Xbox One came out on November 22nd, but the former was launched in fewer markets than the latter, which was initially offered in 13 markets. In two weeks after launch, Sony was able to sell 2.1 million units around the world while in the first 24 hours of availability, sales topped 1 million units. The figures are impressive, there’s no doubt about that, and they’re bound to climb up in 2014, the year has just begun. The PS4 vs Xbox One battle isn’t ending anytime soon.
