Xbox One Won’t Support Gameplay Broadcasting At Launch

Xbox One Wont Support Gameplay Broadcasting At Launch

Gamers who’re anxiously waiting for Microsoft’s next generation console to drop now have one less thing to wait for. The company has confirmed that Xbox One is not going to support gameplay broadcasts via the Twitch app at launch. Microsoft acknowledges that gamers are excited about the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay, but adds that the feature is not going to be available right away. The company says it is working on ensure that the broadcast experience meets that of the Twitch community, so its goal is to deliver the feature “during the first part of 2014.”

That said, Microsoft did detail the Twitch app for Xbox One today. The app will let Xbox Live Gold members to view Twitch’s full content catalog from PC and console broadcasters, it also comes with Snap mode which lets gamers do two things at once on the same screen. For example, gamers can play a game while they watch Twitch videos. They can instantly jump into the app from any activity, all they need to do is say “Xbox, go to Twitch.” At launch, the app will offer ten achievements that gamers can unlock, and Microsoft has listed all of them in today’s blog post.

Xbox One Smartglass App Gets Windows Phone Rollout

Xbox One Smartglass App Gets Windows Phone RolloutThe upcoming Xbox One console from Microsoft is set to be released this coming weekend, and it would be interesting to see how it fares in terms of sales figures compared to the Sony PS4 which managed to surpass the 1 million mark in a matter of 24 hours. We do know that the Xbox One will arrive with a standard controller and a next-generation Kinect sensor for input purposes, but one ought to take note that SmartGlass apps for smartphones and tablets too, are able to play nice with the console. Microsoft has certainly made sure that the Xbox One’s release would be as smooth as possible, by rolling out the Windows Phone 8 version of the app that will arrive with a slew of improvements compared to the Xbox 360 version.

This particular app is free to download from the Windows Phone Store, where it transforms your humble Windows Phone device into a remote control for the Xbox One. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Could Arrive On The Xbox One With Additional Goodies In Tow

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Could Arrive On The Xbox One With Additional Goodies In TowAre you ready to meet up head to head with the next generation of consoles? Let us assume that you already have the PS4 in your living room (being the current showcase champion), you must surely be looking forward to the introduction of the Xbox One from Microsoft later this weekend. Regardless of which particular console that you settle for, you know for sure that next generation gaming is here to stay. In fact, there are rumors going around that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition could be heading for the PS4 as well as Xbox One, especially when listings of it has been spotted online over on Amazon.it (Amazon Italy) as we reported on earlier today.

Needless to say, this particular listing does not arrive with a product image, so a lot of it still hangs in the air, but there is a whole host of other information which should make Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition possible for both next generation consoles. If this particular rumor pans out to be true, then the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is tipped for a rollout later next January 24, 2014, for the Sony PS4, quoting a “next generation platform” as the other outlet – which would more or less mean the Xbox One. It does seem as though this version will arrive with the game in its entirety, a DLC, Amazon.com pre-order content, as well as an exclusive art book – making this somewhat a Game of the Year version, and then some.

Xbox One Controller Could Have Come With Smell-O-Vision

Xbox One Controller Could Have Come With Smell O VisionSo, the next generation console war is about to enter full swing later this weekend as the Xbox One from Microsoft is released then, and whether it will be able to follow up with Sony’s PS4 performance of 1 million units sold in 24 hours remain to be seen. Well, I am quite sure that much thought have gone into the Xbox One as well as its controller during the design phase, so it is interesting to look at how the design process came about and what it entailed. In fact, GamesBeat have managed to find out that Microsoft actually invested more than a cool $100 million in order to redesign the Xbox 360 controller to bring it to the Xbox One generation. How do you improve what has been deemed as “best in class” to be better?

Some of the prototypes involved built-in displays and cameras, with another one actually packing in a cartridge that emits smells. Not only that, there is also another prototype that featured a built-in projector which is able to throw out visuals which would bring back memories of an illuminated room. Perhaps after the Xbox One’s generation is over, the future console from Microsoft will be able to let you smell what is going on in the game itself.

Xbox One vs. the PlayStation 4: A battle over services, not chips

DNP Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 whats the difference, anyway

If you start counting from the Magnavox Odyssey, we’ve been playing console games for seven generations now. Yes, it’s crazy to think of, but it’s even more alarming to realize that the industry has been in an all-out “war” since generation three. For better or worse, competition became a part of the hardware cycle. The players (you know, Sega, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft) have changed several times through the years, but until recently, the game hasn’t — the console wars were fought over who had more bits, what had the most RAM and how fast a machine could render frames. Now, as we kick off generation eight, we’re seeing a very different kind of contest.

We’re not saying that hardware specifications don’t matter — they absolutely do — but this time, the two leading armies are packing painfully similar heat. On paper, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 really aren’t that different. So, what’s going to win the war? Software, services and brand.

Cheaper Entertainment-only Xbox One Rumored To Be On Its Way

Cheaper Entertainment only Xbox One Rumored To Be On Its WayThe Microsoft Xbox One will be seeing a launch in a few days’ time, and while the console was designed for gaming in mind, the console does support Blu-ray and other entertainment features, which is a way for gamers to take a break from gaming and catch up on some shows and movies. In a way buying the PS4 or Xbox One would be like getting a gaming console and a home entertainment unit at the same time. However it seems that according to Paul Thurrott who has a pretty good reputation when it comes to insider information regarding Microsoft, he claims that Microsoft could be getting ready for launch an entertainment-only Xbox One console.

Apparently such a device was already in the works, but it seems that fear that the device might actually outsell the Xbox One forced Microsoft to put a temporary halt on the device. The device is back on track for a release at a yet-to-be-known date. However unlike the Xbox One which is priced at $499, this entertainment-only unit will be much cheaper, so for those looking for a home entertainment system and don’t necessarily need to game, perhaps this alleged entertainment Xbox One might be the device for you. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
