Microsoft’s Xbox One is up for preorder, and gamers who act fast can reserve one of a limited number of Xbox One Day One 2013 Edition consoles. The “Day One” variant is for the most part identical to the console we’ve seen so far, with the same Xbox One core unit and Kinect sensor-bar. However,
The Xbox One won’t arrive in Asia until a full year after it hits US shelves, Microsoft has confirmed, with gamers in several countries being forced to wait for a “staged approach” as the company supposedly localizes content. Those in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and India won’t get the Xbox One until November
Microsoft delays Xbox One launch in Asia by a whole year, forgets to even mention Japan (updated)
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you thought November 2013 was too long to wait, bear a thought for Asian gamers who will apparently have to wait those six months, plus an additional twelve, to pick up their Xbox One. According to Alan Bowman, Microsoft’s Regional VP for Sales and Marketing in Asia, the new console will launch in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and India around late 2014. (Note the lack of Japan on that list, we’re still checking with Microsoft on that.) These are all regions that have been marked as gaming high-growth areas by Microsoft — the VP added that the Xbox 360 became the top-selling console in Asia this year. The company’s also pointed to its next-generation Kinect sensor, one that will work in “dramatically reduced” room spaces and, according Bowman, will be better attuned to Asian gamers who might not have living room space in their homes.
Update: We’ve just heard back from a Microsoft spokesperson who told us the following:
“Microsoft does plan to launch Xbox One, the ultimate new-generation all-in-one entertainment system, in Japan — we look forward to confirming timing and other details at a later stage.”

Let’s say you’re excited about the Xbox One… so excited, in fact, that you’re okay with spending $499 on it before you’ve even touched the gamepad. Microsoft wants to accommodate you: buy a system quickly enough and you’ll get the limited Day One Edition. While the core system won’t change, you’ll get to flaunt your early adopter status through both a slightly customized controller and a special Xbox Live achievement. Microsoft is also offering a matching (though separate) Xbox Live 12-month Gold pass that bundles an exclusive Killer Instinct character. If those rarities are enough to encourage an early purchase, you can reserve one through Microsoft and other retailers. Let’s just hope that there aren’t too many launch day quirks.

Microsoft lists new Play and Charge Kit, Chat Headset for Xbox One (update)
Posted in: Today's ChiliOnce you’ve purchased that hot new Xbox One, you’ve got to have a couple of accessories to go along with it. Naturally Microsoft has thought of that, as it just announced a new version of its Play and Charge Kit plus a refreshed Chat Headset to accompany the next-gen console. As with the previous iteration, the Kit bundles in a controller-compatible lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack plus a cable that’ll charge the gamepad when connected to the console. Microsoft claims it can juice up twice as fast as its predecessor and is able to keep charging during gameplay or standby. You can either get the Kit by itself or as part of a controller bundle. The Chat Headset appears to be the same as it was before; it’s a wired mono headset with wideband digital audio and a unidirectional microphone. We’re still looking for details on pricing and availability (plus a picture or two), but we’ll let you know more details as soon we do.
Update: We’ve added a source link to the Xbox One accessories page plus a picture of both the Play and Charge Kit and the Chat Headset.

Today, Microsoft announced a new, redesigned version of the Xbox 360. While the company’s E3 2013 press conference was mostly about the Xbox One, it seems they want to keep the Xbox 360 relevant for just a bit longer. After all, gamers still have until November before they’re able to pick up a fancy new
November is still several months away, of course, but that doesn’t mean you have to start camping out at your nearest electronics outlet just to get your hands on an Xbox One before the holiday season. Fortunately, a large number of online retailers are already offering the ability to pre-order the $499 console. We received an email from Microsoft pointing us to the page on its own online Store, but companies like Amazon, ShopTo, GameStop, GAME and Best Buy are following suit. So if you know for sure that you’re ready to make the commitment, head to one of the above outlets to make your claim.
Update: If you’re a Wally World patron, you’ll be glad to know that Walmart is now accepting pre-orders as well.
