Chinese Manufacturers Gear Up To Rain On OnePlus’ Parade

Chinese Manufacturers Gear Up To Rain On OnePlus Parade

If you have been following tech news over the past few months you might have heard about a company called OnePlus. Its a new company started by an ex-Oppo executive that going to launch its very first smartphone on April 23rd. The company has built up a lot of hype for OnePlus One and it appears that Chinese manufacturers are getting ready to rain on its parade. At least two manufacturers have lined up announcements on the very day OnePlus One is due to be launched, while one has an announcement lined up for the day before.

OnePlus has boasted a lot about the potential and power of its first smartphone. We can’t reach a verdict yet because it hasn’t shown off the phone as yet, and there’s no way to determine right now how it really performs. Though on paper it will be able to rival the best of them as it touts a Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz processor with 3GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel rear camera.

China’s Xiaomi is due to announce a new product on April 23rd. Rumor has it that the company may announce its Mi3S flagship though nothing can be said for sure right now. ZTE is also going to launch a new product under its Nubia brand come April 23rd but it isn’t known as yet what it plans to unveil.

Huawei is going to make an announcement on April 22nd. It is going to unveil the Honor X1. Either all three want to steal OnePlus’ thunder or this may be the biggest coincidence we’ve seen so far.

ZTE Star 1 Box Spotted

ZTE Star 1 Box SpottedZTE does seem to be an up and coming star in the world of smartphones, and the Chinese manufacturer has leaked out yet another handset in the form of the ZTE Star 1, although the smartphone remains squarely within the box itself. Word on the street have it that the ZTE Star 1 will arrive with a display that is no larger than 6” in size, sporting Full HD resolution to boot. At the back, one will find the camera accompanied by dual LED flash, while one is able to take advantage of LTE speeds thanks to integrated 4G connectivity.

ZTE Apollo Could Be 64-Bit Android Smartphone

ZTE Apollo Could Be 64 Bit Android SmartphoneAccording to Chinese media CNMO, ZTE is currently working on a 64-bit Android smartphone that has been given the codename Apollo. It does seem as though this particular smartphone will be based on one of Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 808 and 810 silicon chipsets, although we will not rule out the likes of the Snapdragon 410, 610, and 615. After all, nothing has been confirmed yet, and this would be a rumor at best, but if the ZTE Apollo is going to be a 64-bit smartphone, then it certainly deserves mention and recognition.

After all, any of theoptions mentioned above would be more or less capable of handling any kind of intensive software or apps without missing a beat, despite the fact that all five chipsets happen to be very different.

For starters, the Snapdragon 410 and 610 happen to be quad-core chipsets that will target low and mid-range devices, where they will function on 1.2GHz and 1.6GHz spectrums and have been paired with Adreno 306 and Adreno 405 GPUs, respectively. As for the Snapdragon 615, it will be an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU with the 610’s GPU, with the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 and octa-core 810 being right at the very top of the food chain. I suppose all that we can do now is sit tight and wait for something official to be revealed.

ZTE Grand S II To Get 4GB RAM (Rumor)

ZTE Grand S II To Get 4GB RAM (Rumor)It goes without saying that Chinese smartphone manufacturers are definitely learning fast – extremely fast, I might add, when it comes to catching up with the rest of the market. In fact, more often than not, you would be able to find a Chinese manufacturer deliver a smartphone that has high end specifications and yet retail for a fraction of the price compared to a more notable brand name, especially against South Korean competition. The ZTE Grand S II could prove to be a dark horse among the flagship devices as it is rumored to feature 4GB RAM, and if true, this would make it the first smartphone in the world to do so.

ZTE Nubia X6 announced with Snapdragon 801, near tablet-sized

With quite a generous screen, the ZTE Nubia X6 was announced with much fanfare at an event in China. When we say generous, we mean a 6.44-inch 1080p display and … Continue reading

ZTE Nubia X6 Announced In China

ZTE Nubia X6 Announced In ChinaAs most of the smartphone world goes ga ga over the HTC One (HTC M8), one ought to remember that the world is a whole lot larger than just one launch region. In fact, folks over in China aren’t too bad off themselves, either, as ZTE has already made an announcement concerning their latest ZTE Nubia X6 phablet as well. Could it be a clever and yet subtle manner of deflecting some of the attention lavished on the new HTC One? Perhaps, or perhaps not, but that is not as important as checking out the hardware specifications right after the jump.

ZTE And The9 Ready To Roll Out Fun Box Console In China

ZTE And The9 Ready To Roll Out Fun Box Console In ChinaNo, the Fun Box is not some sort of karaoke machine for you to sing your heart out in the living room late into the wee hours of the night, keeping your neighbors awake with your screeching that would even put the neighborhood cat in heat to shame. No sir, the Fun Box, a device created in collaboration by smartphone manufacturer ZTE as well as game developer The9, happens to be an Android-powered game console that will launch in China later this month.

ZTE Grand Memo 2 LTE: Video Hands-On

The ZTE Grand Memo II is not a phone that is well known in the U.S yet, but upon playing with it at Mobile World Congress 2014, I thought that it was another interesting mid-range smartphone that is set to fight in a ferociously competitive handset market for this year. For consumers, handsets like these mean that it is not necessary to pay top dollars to get a large 6” display, a 3200 mAh battery and a decent Android user experience. (more…)

ZTE Nubia X6 Set To Feature Optical Image Stabilization

ZTE Nubia X6 Set To Feature Optical Image StabilizationZTE’s upcoming flagship device, the Nubia X6 smartphone (sometimes, when the word “X6” is mentioned, I tend to think of BMW’s sweet, sweet ride) has been teased yet again, where the smartphone’s rear camera is touted to arrive with Optical Image Stabilization on board. OIS for short, it is starting to end up as one of those standard features found in some higher end smartphone models, never mind the fact that Samsung’s most recent Galaxy S5 lacks that.

    ZTE Nubia X6 Spotted

ZTE Nubia X6 SpottedThere has been a fair number of rumors concerning the upcoming ZTE Nubia Z7, where among them include an increase in the screen size, not to mention being slated for an announcement later this month or in April. Well, it seems that the ZTE Nubia Z7 will not be known as that particular name when it is finally released, as it would fall under the guise of the ZTE Nubia X6 instead. We are pretty fine with this particular naming convention, considering how the ZTE Nubia X6 will allegedly arrive with a 6” or 6.3” display, rather than a far larger 7” one which would surely place it in the tablet category. Not only that, the number 6 would also jive a whole lot better with the model name, don’t you think so?
