ZTE Eco-Mobius Concept Modular Smartphone

ZTE Eco Mobius Concept Modular SmartphoneThe idea of a modular handset is not new at all, where just a couple of months back, we talked about the Phonebloks concept that certainly stoked the interest of many. Well, it seems that China-based ZTE Corporation might be on to something this time around with a conceptual idea of a possible modular smartphone. This conceptual device is known as the ZTE Eco-Mobius, and it sure as heck does seem to look pretty sweet, even picking up Red Dot Design Award along the way. Right at the heart of the Eco-Mobius, it will feature a quartet of main modules – the display, core, camera and battery.

It is different from Phonebloks as it does not use snap-on modules, but rather, you slide in the Eco-Mobius modules slide into place using tracks. The various components within each module including the CPU, GPU and RAM can also be attached magnetically. Everything about the ZTE Eco-Mobius has been specially designed to be replaceable and swappable so that wastage is reduced. One thing is for sure, this is one conceptual smartphone that we would like to see make a debut in the real world, and hopefully, at an affordable price point, too. ZTE, are you listening in on our cries?

According to the reports, the handset has been pegged for an announced at the end of the year, but it seems that ZTE has decided to make the announcement a little earlier and has since started to send out invites to a ZTE event that has been scheduled for the 19th of November, as pictured above in the event invitation received by the folks at CtechCN.com.

For those unfamiliar with the ZTE nubia 5S, the handset is said to be a high-end device which will feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM, and a 5” Full HD 1080p display, definitely putting it in competition with other Android devices of that caliber. No word on which version of Android the handset will be running on, and while we can certainly hope for Android 4.4 KitKat, chances are we might be looking at Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead.

Mysterious ZTE For Sprint Spotted At The FCC

Mysterious ZTE For Sprint Spotted At The FCCJust the other day Verizon officially announced the Ellipsis 7 tablet, a tablet designed for the budget-conscious shopper in mind. Well it looks like Sprint might have a budget tablet of their own that could compete with Verizon’s own offering, although at this point not much is known save for the fact that it recently made its way past the FCC. According to the FCC filing, the device in question is made by ZTE and sports the model number, V72C. It has been speculated that the processor will be a MediaTek processor and the tablet will feature a 7” display.

While the tablet appears to support 3G connectivity, it does not appear that it will have 4G LTE, so if you’re in the market for a cheap LTE tablet, this device might not be the one for you. It is possible that this ZTE tablet could be the successor to last year’s low-budget ZTE Optik that was released on Sprint’s network. Either way we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for more information, so if you’re in the market for a budget Android device, be sure to check back with us at a later date to see if there are any more details that can be had!

ZTE Source Announced By Cricket Wireless

ZTE Source Announced By Cricket Wireless The folks over at Cricket Wireless, while they are not exactly the largest and most notable of all mobile carriers over in the US, has just announced that they will be offering a spanking new mid-range budget oriented smartphone that they call the ZTE Source. Do not get me wrong, ZTE has come up with its fair share of high end models in the past, but this time around, it seems that they are about to enter mid-range territory. Never mind about rumors circulating in the past of the carrier which is set to be picked up by AT&T, although on the flip side, that could also mean more premium smartphones headed in the direction of Cricket Wireless.

Just what kind of hardware specifications will the ZTE Source pack? For $219.99 a pop, it will arrive with a 4.5” display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera located at the back, 4GB of internal memory that can be further expanded via a microSD memory card slot. All of it will run on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, where it will be accompanied by the Muve Music service right out of the box. Are there any takers for the ZTE Source? ZTE Nubia Flagship To Come With Snapdragon 800 Chipset In November

ZTE Nubia Flagship To Come With Snapdragon 800 Chipset In NovemberZTE, one of the smartphone manufacturers from China who are now starting to make its presence felt worldwide, has mentioned that they have plans to introduce a new flagship device for the masses later this November. This particular flagship smartphone will run on the Snapdragon 800 processor, and will obviously target the high end market. If the name Nubia sounds familiar to you, that is because right now, the ZTE Nubia Z5 and Nubia Z5 Mini have been released already, so it is not surprising to see them concentrate on the Nubia name to introduce a new flagship this November at best, and early December at worst.

Not only that, it does seem that the new flagship will continue from where the Nubia Z5 left off. So far, hints of the hardware specifications of this alleged upcoming Nubia flagship device include a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor that will in all probability be the MSM8974AB model, in addition to improvements made to the camera as well as other user interface features. Will the upcoming flagship be able to take the title of the thinnest 5” Full HD smartphone when it arrives? Perhaps, considering how its predecessor did so in the past. Pricing details obviously remain to be known.

ZTE Warp 4G Announced By Boost MobileBoost Mobile has just announced that they will have yet another 4G capable smartphone on offer, where it will come in the form of the ZTE Warp 4G. ZTE planning bigger, better Firefox OS phone for US release next year

ZTE planning bigger, better Firefox OS phone for US release next year

ZTE is one of the few companies making a sly side-bet on Firefox OS, and next year it’s planning to double-down on that initial wager with the launch of a second handset running Mozilla’s smartphone platform. Speaking with IDG’s Michael Kan at Expo Comm China 2013, ZTE’s Executive VP He Shiyou expects the device to land first half 2014, with a larger display than its predecessor, a dual-core processor, a “revamped user experience” and, of course, a low price. The exec also said that, with approximately 100,000 units sold, demand for the ZTE Open “has exceeded supply,” and he anticipates double that figure in total sales. ZTE deliberately manufactured the Open on a small scale, but is optimistic about future adoption of Firefox OS. Shiyou believes HTML5-based apps will become more relevant as speedy network technology like LTE reduces reliance on native software, stating: “In the future, the app store business model will be no more.”
