Panasonic Jungle MMORPG Portable Gaming System Pictured

A great poet once wrote, “It’s like a jungle sometimes / It makes me wonder / How I keep from going under.” He was not talking about the above product, though, who knows–if the Panasonic Jungle ever does materialize, his words may well be co-opted for some marketing campaign.

There’s nothing official to speak of, at the moment. All we’ve got is a leaked shot and some testimonials from testers who managed to score some hands-on time with the thing. The Jungle is said to be built around online gaming–specifically MMORPGs.

It looks rugged as hell. It’s a bulky little clamshell that reportedly sports a terrific screen, an HDMI port, and Wi-FI, mostly likely. It also apparently runs some form of Linux, meaning that there needs to be some manner of work around to play most titles, be it ports or through a browser.

Panasonic, of course, hasn’t been a huge presence in gaming since the release of 1994’s failed 3DO.
