The hardware specs of HP’s upcoming tablet have been leaked, and it sounds like a beast.

A document tipped to PreCentral details HP’s purported WebOS-powered tablet, codenamed Topaz. Like the photos we saw last week, the 9.7-inch Topaz is sleek, black and nearly button-free. A glossy outer finish and minimal accoutrements (a small HP logo rests on the back center of the tablet) make for a subtle slate.

But don’t let the simple look fool you — there appears to be powerful parts under the hood. According to the document, the Topaz sports a dual-core 1.2-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon-based processor, HP’s answer to all of the dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processors we’re going to see in Motorola’s forthcoming Xoom tablet, the T-Mobile G-Slate from LG, and Dell’s 7-inch Streak (all of which are Android OS-powered). It’s also got 512 MB of DDR2 RAM and an integrated Adreno 220 graphics processing unit to render 1080p high-definition video.

Of course, the Topaz will have all the standards expected of 2011 tablets to come: a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. There doesn’t seem to be a MicroSD slot, but you may not need it if you decide to go for the 64-GB storage option. If you don’t need that much hard disk space, you can opt for the 16- or 32-GB options.

When HP bought WebOS creator Palm last April for $1.2 billion, the future of Palm’s WebOS — and what devices it would be featured on — was unclear. The OS was rumored to be running the long-discussed HP Slate, before eventually settling with Windows 7.

As we mentioned in our last piece on the Topaz leaks, the device is rumored to be shipping sometime in March. HP declined our requests for comment.

Odds are you’ll have your first chance at Honeycomb with Motorola’s Xoom next month, but LG’s G-Slate for T-Mobile — which might very well be 3D-enabled — shouldn’t be too far behind. New intel coming out of TmoNews today pegs the G-Slate for a March 23rd launch with an unknown price tag, preceded by the Dell Streak 7 on February 2nd (which is being billed as the carrier’s “first 4G tablet” thanks to its HSPA+ support) at $299.99 on contract after rebate. Turning to non-tablet news, the Galaxy S 4G — which you might recall is basically a Vibrant remixed with HSPA+ — looks line up for February 23rd. In other words, it’s going to be a busy, wallet-emptying couple months for you T-Mobile types… so save up while you can.

We all know AT&T just loves its tiered pricing models, so it’s no surprise to hear that the carrier intends to turn its forthcoming LTE service into a tier-vana of great new sophistication. BGR has come across an internal document detailing how AT&T plans to segment its 4G pricing on the basis of both speed and data allowance, meaning that your price will reflect both the amount of data you consume and the rate at which you gobble it down. To add further complexity flexibility, Top Ups will be available that’ll allow users to amp up their connection speed for a limited time or increase their allowance on a per-month basis. We’re hearing trials of this new offering will commence in May, which fits in neatly with the currently planned LTE rollout in the second half of this year. So it’s not all set in stone yet, but irrespective of the number of data options AT&T throws our way, the paramount question will always be the same: how much?

We’ve never seen an official price for Dell’s Streak 7 tablet, but we can now readily guess what it will be — thanks to T-Mobile’s website, which is now two for two. You see, the wireless carrier typically lets you pay for devices in monthly installments rather than one lump sum, and StreakSmart discovered the former number is already printed below. As we’re sure you’ve already discerned, that means four easy payments of $82.50 will buy you the Tegra 2-toting 4G tablet — assuming the figure is correct — and now that we’ve perfected our QVC salesman voice, we’ll let you decide whether or not that’s a deal.

Here’s what we know: the Samsung Galaxy S 4G is coming to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network (we heard as much this morning from the carrier itself, actually, but now Samsung’s got an announcement all its own). There’s a Super AMOLED screen of unknown size and Android 2.2 Froyo. Here’s what we don’t know: anything else, unfortunately. We’d guess pretty strongly this is the Vibrant 4G since that was Big Magenta’s nomenclature for the 3G version, but no one is officially uttering that name. Press release after the break.
