Samsung Exhibit 4G coming to T-Mobile on June 8th?

It wasn’t even two weeks ago that we first glimpsed the Samsung Exhibit 4G for T-Mobile in the wild (and spied its FCC footprint). Now it looks like this Gingerbread phone will go on sale June 8th — if this flyer sent in to TmoNews is to be believed. Still no word on pricing, though we know dealers will pay $325 a pop. To recap, a peek at the filing and unauthorized photos reveals the Exhibit 4G is an HSPA + handset running TouchWiz on top of Android 2.3, with front and rear-facing cameras, an LED flash in the back, and a microSD card slot. The site’s sources also suggest the phone will pack a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU and a 3 megapixel back camera, a departure from the speculation we were treated to earlier this month. In any case, it looks like T-Mobile will set the record straight in a matter of weeks.

Samsung Infuse 4G and HP Veer 4G now on sale at AT&T (update)

These two smartphones probably couldn’t be any different if they tried — on the left, we’ve got the tiny 2.6-inch HP Veer with webOS on board, and on the right is Samsung’s Infuse 4G, a giant 4.5-inch Android that costs twice as much on contract. They do have two important things in common, however: they’re both available on AT&T right now, and you can read our reviews of each before tossing any money down. Enjoy!

Update: The Veer 4G is actually free on contract at Best Buy right now. Needless to say, that’s a much better deal.

Samsung Infuse 4G review

We’re just getting into the swing of spring, flowers blooming and skeeters biting, but already it’s been a great year for Samsung — if we ignore the whole lawsuit thing. Just a few weeks ago the company delivered to us our highest scoring Android phone yet, the Galaxy S II and, while that handset has not appeared on American shores, we were graced with the Droid Charge, which offers LTE speed, strong battery life, and an on-contract price that slightly exceeds its design.

Not so with the company’s latest assault on American carriers. It’s the Infuse 4G, it’s $199 on-contract, and it has a decidedly high-end feel. It even looks a little like the S II — if you squint. This is its own phone, though, a giant 4.5-inch screen setting it apart from its predecessors, and a giant battery inside giving it plenty of life. But is it really as good as it looks?

HP Veer 4G review

HP’s Jon Rubenstein told us that his company wanted to veer in a new direction, and veer it surely did — the HP Veer 4G will arguably be the smallest fully-functional smartphone on the market when it goes on sale May 15th. In a nutshell, it’s a Palm Pixi Plus in the guise of a Pre, only in a delightfully downsized package with webOS 2.1 and thoroughly modern functionality. What does it feel like to Just Type on its tiny keyboard or throw app cards across its itsy-bitsy 2.6-inch screen? How is it as a pocketable HSPA+ hotspot, and will that extra G decimate its miniscule 910mAh battery? These are the questions that drove us when playing with the Veer 4G this week, and you’ll find the answers shortly after the break.

Cisco Cius on AT&T: crystal clear corporate communication coming this fall

Cisco’s Cius hopped on Big Red’s bandwagon a few months back, and now it’s bringing its high-def corporate communications skills to AT&T. And not only will Ma Bell be selling the seven-inch slate, its AT&T Foundry division will make business-friendly apps for the device. Don’t go bugging the bossman for one just yet, however, as the Cius won’t be riding AT&T’s waves of 4G HSPA+ until this fall. PR’s after the break.

Samsung Exhibit 4G for T-Mobile caught on camera, passes through FCC

Someone left a little gift for the folks at TmoNews — spy shots featuring the Gingerbread-toting Samsung Exhibit 4G, which also just passed through the FCC as the SGH-T759. We can tell from the photos and fillings that the T759 packs both front- and rear-facing cameras (the latter with an LED flash), a microSD card slot, Android 2.3.3 with a TouchWiz veneer, and an HSPA+ radio. It’s been suggested that the Exhibit could possibly have specs that line up with the rumored Galaxy S II Mini, including a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1.4GHz processor — according to TmoNews, that CPU might be the older ARM11 variety, which could help explain the underwhelming Quadrant score in the images. Price and availability are up in the air, but we’d err on the side of cheap and soon. Check out the source for a few more pics.

Samsung Infuse 4G is AT&T’s first 21Mbps smartphone

AT&T has been adding a little dash (and asterisk) of 4G to all its phones as of late, but not all of those handsets are created equal — the Motorola Atrix 4G, HTC Inspire 4G and HP Veer 4G are technically capable of only HSDPA Category 10, which equates to maximum download speeds of 14.4Mbps. Not so for the new Samsung Infuse 4G, as it’s been boosted to HSDPA Category 14, which bumps its particular flavor of 4G up to 21Mbps. That has AT&T playing in the same arena as T-Mobile, assuming that your local cell towers have the fiber backhaul in place… and assuming that T-Mobile doesn’t make good on promises to deliver some 42Mbps (HSPA+ Category 20) handsets before AT&T catches up. And yes, the uploads should be fine, too — AT&T says the Infuse 4G supports HSUPA Category 6, which should give us maximum rates of 5.76Mbps when firing files into the clouds.

Samsung’s Infuse 4G coming to AT&T May 15th for $200

We’ve known Samsung’s Infuse 4G was coming to AT&T since the day we got our grubby mitts on one at CES, and now it’s finally here. Samsung’s svelte superphone with the dazzling 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display is launching May 15th on AT&T for $200 on a two-year contract. Keep it locked right here, as more pics and a hands-on with Sammy’s hot new handset are on the way.

Behind that sizable screen real estate, the Infuse 4G packs HSDPA Cat 14 and HSUPA Cat 6 radios, a 2GB microSD card, 1.2 GHz processor, and Android 2.2. Sammy also gave it an 8-megapixel camera in the back that does 720p video and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter — all in a handset that’s 9.24mm thick in the bulge at the bottom and 8.9mm thin most everywhere else. HTC Sensation 4G hits the FCC, shows off T-Mobile-friendly AWS radio

As always, the FCC continues to tease our gadget lust with another upcoming smartphone. This time we have the HTC Sensation 4G, aka PG58100, which is believed to be launching in early June and will ride on T-Mobile’s very own AWS waves. Frankly, the label above is the only interesting eye candy you’ll find here as the lab photos remain hidden under HTC’s confidentiality request, but it’s not like we haven’t seen the 1.2Ghz dual-core in its full glory before. What remains uncertain is whether T-Mobile’s offering will come with Sense 3.0 — the carrier has a habit of delivering vanilla Android devices these days, like the G2 and G2x (though the latter’s from LG). Place your bets now, our operators are standing by.

AT&T brings HSUPA to Atrix 4G and Inspire 4G, one requires WiFi to download update

If you’re the somewhat-proud-but-feeling-throttled owner of a Motorola Atrix 4G or HTC Inspire 4G, your days of terribly slow uploads are nearly through — following some preliminary tests, AT&T is rolling out updates that provide “increased potential data speed” to both HSPA+ handsets right on cue. The Inspire 4G’s patch will also “make the email set up process much easier,” while the Atrix 4G will actually get a pair of updates which will allegedly bring better Bluetooth headset compatibility, fingerprint reader performance and battery life (which is always a plus) as well as the questionable utility of turning the Atrix into an EDGE hotspot, and a bump to Android 2.2.2 to hopefully fix any lingering SMS routing bugs. Word of warning though, you’ll need to throw your Atrix up on a WiFi network to obtain these goodies — all the Gs in the world won’t help you.
