Infinitec officially launches IUM ad hoc streaming device: ships in July for $129

It’s been a long time comin’, but the little startup-that-could has just gone official with its first major consumer electronics peripheral, the IUM. First introduced at CES, this ad hoc streaming stick creates a local WiFi network (802.11b/g/n; 2.4GHz to 5GHz) for all sorts of media and data to flow from your PC to, well, pretty much anything. PC to PC, PC to Blu-ray player, PC to printer and PC to console streaming is all within reach, with HD support baked in to boot. We’ve already given you low-down on functionality, but today the company is announcing a July 1st availability date for consumers across the US, Canada and Europe. We’re told to expect it for “under $129 depending on the location,” and if all goes well, it’ll ship in even more locales in due time. Hop on past the break for the full release and promo video, and be sure to give that Shufflegazine link a visit for podcasts detailing the use scenarios.

LG’s first Windows Phone 7 handset shipping as early as September

Our buds over at Engadget Chinese are just reporting back from a sitdown it had with LG Mobile in Hong Kong at a Chinese New Year event. The most tantalizing bit of truth is confirmation of that September launch date rumor for its first Windows Phone 7 Series device. However, this time LG padded the date a bit and said it would launch sometime between September and November. Of course, the only official word so far, has Windows Phone 7 launching before the “holidays,” so we’ll take what we can get. Maybe Mr. Ballmer meant Halloween?

February 22nd came and went with nary a word from Spring Design about its Alex availability. Sony VAIO Z brings Quad SSD drive and dynamic graphics switching to Europe in March

Announced at CES with a “late Spring” availability, we just got word that the Core i7-620M pumpin’ VAIO Z series from Sony will be hitting Europe in late March. The Z’s biggest claim to fame is its ultra-fast Quad SSD, a rather unique Sony innovation that writes data in parallel to four SSDs (up to 256GB total capacity in RAID 0) at speeds up to 6.2x faster than typical 5400 rpm laptop hard disks. Sony also fits the Z with a hybrid graphics solution that combines 1GB of NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with Intel HD graphics allowing you to automatically (or manually) switch between “speed” and “stamina” modes… presumably without requiring a logout if we’re reading “dynamic” correctly. Rounding out the specs are 6GB of DDR3 SDRAM, 802.11n WiFi, integrated optical drive, and optional VAIO Everywair 3G mobile broadband module all stuffed into this 13.1-inch laptop with 1920 x 1080 pixel LED backlit display with 210 x 23.8-32.7 x 314mm and 1.43kg footprint. Power AND portability? Come give us a hug Sony.

LG marks belated Android entry with GW620 UK launch

Hey, you know what’s hot right now? Android 1.5. You know what else? Resistive touchscreens and chunky bodies, the ladies just can’t get enough of them. Good thing too, since in some alternate universe where the Motorola Droid, HTC HD2 and the Nexus One existed, this LG GW620 — hereafter to be known as the InTouch Max — would look like it’s arriving about a year too late to matter. A phone that’s been teased and promoted since September, it has finally found homes on Virgin Mobile and T-Mobile in the UK, where unwitting victims can have it forced upon them for free when they sign up to long-term contracts costing at least £20 ($32.50) per month. Hit the source link for more details, if you must.

Philips SA075 officially launched in Beijing, spotted in the wild

Hard to say exactly how many Earthlings (and Martians, for that matter) are jazzed about Philips’ forthcoming SA075 PMP, but it looks as if the wait for a ship date is drawing to a close. Over in Beijing, the player was recently showcased at a product launch party, and while a stateside release still hasn’t been talked about, it was confirmed that the HD playback will be capped at 720p (and not 1080p, as the unicorns and elves were hoping for). We’re also told that the display will boast an 800 x 480 resolution, an HDMI output will be onboard and at least a few gigabytes of storage will be included. Riveting, no?

[Thanks, Gavin]

If you feel like geeking it up (or, as they say back east, “getting your geek on”) there really is no better combination than gaming and comic books — that’s why we’re stoked to hear that the PSP comic store is set to go live at 3:00 PM today. In addition, the European PlayStation blog states that the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa stores should become available at 5PM GMT, while the store in Ireland is being held up due to technical issues. The store boasts “hundreds of new and classic collections,” including your favorites from Marvel, IDW, Titan, iVerse and 2000AD. Check out playstationcomics.com to give it a shot yourself — but not before peeping the video after the break.

Nintendo DSi LL sells 103k in two days, ripped open in two minutes

The newer, embiggened Nintendo DSi LL (as it’s known in Tokyo Town) has been available to the kids in Japan since the beginning of the week, and Enterbrain, Inc. is reporting that Nintendo has pushed 103,524 units in its first two days. To perspectivize things, the DSi was snatched up to the tune of about 170,000 units in the same time period, while the PSPgo sold around 28,000 units. To celebrate, the kids at PC Watch have ripped one of these bad boys — and you’ll never guess what they found! (OK, maybe you will.) Check out the link below for the hardcore details — and don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Sony joins 1,000-hour recording club with IDC-UX300

You really don’t know how many voice recorders there are out there until you actually look. Sony’s UX line of dictation takers / mp3 players has just undergone a gentle revamp with a freshened up control scheme and a bump in integrated storage. The new base model, UX200, will come with 2GB of flash memory, while the 4GB UX300 and 300F (both capable of more than 1,000 hours of recording) are differentiated only by the FM radio availalble in the latter. All models record in stereo mp3 format with added noise cancellation built in, while playback can be done at 21 different speed steps, allowing you to keep track of all the Scatman John wannabes out there. Battery life is rated at up to 15 hours for continuous recording, or north of 80 for continuous playback. Expect to see these showing up, in all their classy color options, in Europe early next month, and check past the break for the full PR.
