Is this a matte black iPhone? (answer: probably not) Update: more pics

So, this is sort of fun. The leaked photo above appears to be of a new iPhone back — in matte black. Sure, we have to be highly suspicious of all kinds of purported evidence of new products in general, and we’ve heard enough crazy Apple rumors over the years to fill an issue of US Weekly. Regardless, this one’s worth at least considering: it’s got a model number, A1303, that’s previously unseen, but has all the other requisite data, including FCC ID numbers, that we’ve grown to know and love on the back of real, actual, undoctored iPhones. Look, it’s probably fake. Discuss.

Update:
Some more pics have surfaced — check one after the break and the other at MacRumors. Seems a bit early for these sorts of leaks to us, but crazier things have happened.

Nokia N97 designer interview accidentally outs two new Nokia sets?

Sure, the pic looks a wee bit dodgy, but regardless it shows what looks to be two Nokia sets we’ve not seen before. Both of these ape the N97 — which explains how this vid has been circulating since the 29 of January — but the set on the right has had its d-pad moved to the right side of the keyboard and the buttons on the face seem absent. The handset on the left differs as it looks — arguably — thinner than the N97 and the front lip is sporting what appear to be a mini USB port and headset adapters. GSMArena has pointed out a couple sets from Nokia’s leaked roadmap that could fit the bill. The Ivalo (left) has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 32GB ROM, AGPS, a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, and rounds out with TV-out and Bluetooth. The Madeleine, if that’s what it is, has a side sliding keyboard, WiFi, Bluetooth, FM Radio,GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Hopefully the truth is waiting for us in Barcelona, but feel free to peek at the video after the break to keep your spirits up ’til then.

Nokia E75 outed by — you guessed it — Expansys

We’ve been seeing the Nokia E75’s face around for so long now that none of this is bound to be shocking. Still, the QWERTY slider’s been formally outed by our trusty, leaky friends over at Expansys, confirming all we knew to be true about the device. Yep, it’s got a 2.4-inch, 320 x 240 QVGA display, quad-band GSM / EDGE and dual-band HSDPA, WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and A-GPS. The E75 is expected to be on hand at MWC, and we’re hearing it’ll be available on or around March 13th for somewhere in the neighborhood of $580.

First Acer-branded smartphone a Glofiish DX900 rebadge?

There’s bound to be more, but the first leaked Acer handset expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress is no more than a rebadge of a device obtained through its acquisition of E-Ten. The Glofiish DX900 was announced in mid-2008 with dual-SIM support, GPS, a 3 megapixel camera, and a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen riding a Windows Mobile 6.1 OS — that all stays the same. In other words, if the leak is accurate, then this particular device will see a new logo and that’s about it. Still, the MWC invite specifically said “smartphones launch” so we’re not corking the fat lady just yet.

Aigo’s “Jigsaw of Love” MP3 player completes you

No specs here to speak of. Only pics of this oddly shaped player from Aigo called the “Jigsaw of Love.” Presumably then, you can mate the DAP with your partner’s piece and then “leak” the sordid video onto the Internet in hopes of fake-fighting a revival to your fading career. But that’s just a guess.

Sidekick LX 2009 outed in survey, could possibly be real

Whoa, whoa — calm down hiptoppers. Don’t act like you didn’t know a new Sidekick was coming in the year two-thousand and nine. Actually, there is a fair reason to celebrate here, ’cause if these specs are true, the Sidekick LX 2009 will be a surefire winner. A reader over at HipTop3 reportedly came across this image above while taking an online survey, which — as your eyes have no doubt confirmed — shows off the very first 3G / GPS enabled Sidekick ever. Specs wise, it’ll supposedly boast a 3.2-inch WVGA display (854 x 480), a 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, easy access to YouTube, MySpace and Twitter, turn-by-turn navigation and video recording capabilities. Sadly, there’s still a sliver of a chance this could all be a hoax, but we know your brain isn’t letting itself accept that fact at the moment, now is it?

Panasonic’s DMC-FT1, TZ7, TZ6, FX550, and FX40 cameras outed by French authority

We’re not sure what’s going in France at the moment but a bevy of new 12 megapixel Panasonic Lumix cameras have broken loose with or without corporate approval. Let’s start with the rugged €399 DMC-FT1 (pictured). It features a 12 megapixel (1/2.33-inches) with a 28-128mm optically stabilized 4.6x zoom Leica lens and a 2.7-inch LCD. It’ll survive drops of up to 1.5 meters, water to a depth of 3 meters, while surviving storage in the dustiest of apartments. It’ll even shoot 720p video in “AVCHD Lite” format… whatever that is. Next up are the €429 DMC-TZ7 and its £329 DMC-TZ6 little buddy. The TZ7 couples a 12x optically stabilized zoom (25-300mm) with the ability to shoot 720p HD video in that same AVCHD Lite format and reviewable on a biggie (but relatively common) 3-inch LCD.

Also outed is the €299 FX550 with 5x zoom, 720p video capture, and a 3-inch touchscreen buzzing along with haptic feedback. It’ll even handle aperture and shutter priority modes in addition to manual exposure for those who wish to push their amateur credentials to the edge. The €299 DMC-FX40 dials things back with a skinnier chassis and smaller 2.5-inch LCD while ditching the manual stuff. Check ’em all in the gallery.

Leak sauce: Expansys rides again, three Samsung sets outed?

Seems the good people at Expansys are up to their shenanigans again, but this time we’re seeing a few Samsung sets dribbling out of the leaky tap — mind you, we won’t holler legitimate ’til we hear it from Samsung. The Samsung B2100 — apparently a follow up to the M110 and B2700 — which actually appeared back in October 2008, The Samsung Louve (perhaps a typo of Louvre? It’ll make sense in a minute) and the Samsung Pivot. The Pivot is apparently set to be one of Samsung’s first handsets with Windows Mobile 6.5 and will come loaded with a 5 megapixel camera, QWERTY keypad, LED flash, aGPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, and is touted as coming in a package similar to the Samsung i780. Samsung’s Louve is said to be designed like the TyTN II and shares its sliding and tilting screen — see where the Louvre name fits in? — runs Windows Mobile 6.1, a 3.2 megapixel camera, and shares the i900 Omnia‘s tweak-ready interface. The Expansys “Insider” mentioned filling in the details and posting some pics soon, we’ll get those up if we see them or fill you in when we hear more.

HTC’s G2 “Sapphire 2.0” caught slumming in the wilds

Well, well, lookie here… HTC’s G2 followup to the original Android phone getting a good man-handling in the wild. Expected in May, the images were leaked without specs or any real details. Still, it’s clearly the G2 / Sapphire 2.0 handset with 3.2 megapixel camera leaked just a few weeks back along-side the rest of HTC’s 2009 models. Hey, you didn’t need that physical keyboard anyway, right?

Windows 7 beta 64-bit version leaked just in time for Steve Ballmer’s keynote

It looks like the usual suspects are at it again, showing their baldfaced contempt for copyright law by disseminating a 64-bit version of the Windows 7 beta. When we saw the 32-bit version a couple weeks ago things looked pretty good, outperforming Vista and XP in “real world” tasks, so we’re hoping that its older brother performs on the same level. There’s a strong possibility that the public beta will be announced at tonight’s keynote, and if it is Engadget will be on hand to dish out all the gory details.
