Samsung intros 12 megapixel duo: TL320 and HZ15W

What’s this, Samsung? Announcing a few new cameras each week until PMA hits us when we least expect it? Just days after the firm expanded its less than enthralling SL lineup comes two new 12 megapixelers. The TL320 is the same one we spotted earlier at Amazon, though some of those specs were — shall we say, preliminary. The official specs sheets lists a 12.2 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 3-inch HVGA AMOLED display, 720p movie recording, HDMI output, dual image stabilization and twin analog gauges for checking out memory capacity and battery life. As for the ZH15W, that one checks in with a dozen megapixels even, a 10x optical zoom, a 3-inch LCD monitor, 720p movie mode and most of the same features as the aforementioned cousin. Both shooters should be available this May for $379.99 and $329.99, respectively, and you can catch the full release after the break.

Samsung’s TL320: the mystery digital camera with analog gauges

Samsung's TL320: the mystery digital camera with analog gauges

We’ve seen some interesting looking shooters from Samsung before, but nothing quite like this latest charmer, a 12 megapixel mystery model that’s just appeared on Amazon’s site. It features a 5x stabilized zoom lens on the front, which is nice and all, but the real bits of intrigue are elsewhere. Beaming back at ya will be a 3-inch OLED screen, a rarity for a digi cam, but it’s also got a pair of those analog gauges we loved on the NV9 on top that show battery life and remaining storage. Sadly, other than Amazon saying it’ll sell for a penny under $330 we don’t know a thing about it’s availability, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it and its dashing red arrows.

Sony XEL-1 OLED TV lands in the UK, now twice the price

Good news: The world’s thinnest and first commercially available OLED television — the Sony XEL-1 — is on sale in the UK today.

Bad news: It’ll cost Brits £3,489 (about $4,944) — that’s more than twice the price of the same set sold in the US.

Look, we knew the European price hikes were coming from Sony in 2009, but we weren’t expecting this. Then again, if you’re the type who thinks dropping a couple of thousand Quid on an 11-inch television makes sense, well, you probably won’t even notice.

MyRacer keeps it simple with new Lisse S10 MP3 player

MyRacer’s no stranger to overly complex portable media players, but it’s taken a decidedly more minimalist approach with its new Lisse S10 player, which manages to cram a 128 x 64 resolution OLED display into a tiny 46x40x10mm package. That’s accomplished in part by making the screen itself a four-way directional pad, which will let you navigate through the surprisingly extensive menu system with relative ease (bonus points if you guessed it had an e-book reader). No word on a release ’round here, naturally, but those in Korea will apparently be able to pick one up soon (if not already) in their choice of 2GB or 4GB variations, and in a variety of colors, of course.

Sony’s NWZ-X1000 Walkman PMP handled on video

It looks like if you want to get a hands-on with Sony’s latest Walkman, the touchscreen NWZ-X1000, you’ve got to do two things: travel to Japan, and seriously glad-hand the product. Despite our efforts in Vegas, the Sony crew wouldn’t let us snag the player from under its glass housing, but the Stuff team gets to toy with the OLED-faced PMP in this video. From the looks of things, Sony is at pains to recreate something akin to Cover Flow, but the rest of the UI looks sadly like a whole bunch of Windows CE-based devices we see coming out of Asia on a daily basis. Of course, this might be an early iteration of the interface, so we’ll hold our final judgments till we get a thorough hands-on with the PMP. The player is set to come in 16GB and 32GB iterations, and will launch sometime this Summer. For now, enjoy the video after the break.

Update: Sony’s people tell us that you’re looking at $299 for the 16GB and $399 for 32 — right in line with the iPod touch.

Samsung shows off OLED display collection at CES

OLED displays were out in full force this year, with Samsung bringing plenty of its own to showcase to CES onlookers. We already had a chance to check out a snazzy folding OLED late last week, but CNET was able to capture a few more for good measure. The most notable were the 3.3-inch “3D” AMOLED display (with a WQVGA resolution) and the 7.01-inch AMOLED panel, which was seen sporting a 1,024 x 600 resolution and a 30,000:1 contrast ratio. Flip through the gallery below for a few more looks, but don’t get your hopes up too high for any near-term release dates.

Sony’s flexible OLED mockups

Sony hasn’t gotten very far along with these units — they’re really just plastic shells — but we like we’re they’re headed with it. They showed off a full-screen laptop (pictured), bendable e-reader, and Walkman bracelet concepts, all based around flexible OLED technology and built with “flexible bioplastics,” along with the flexible display that going to power them all when they hit the market… in the year 2000.

Sony OLED Walkman NWZ-X1000 eyes-on

We’ve been trying to get a legitimate hands-on with Sony’s OLED-infused Walkman since we first caught the device on Wednesday, but security’s been super tight in the Sony booth and we couldn’t distract anyone long enough to unscrew the casing. So we can’t get an actual hands-on with the Walkman, but we don’t need to touch it to know that the OLED is seriously gorgeous and the UI looks super crisp. Sony’s reluctance to pull this out of its casing seems to show the player’s not ready for primetime, but we’ll keep trying to get something a bit more gratifying.

Update: Engadget Spanish got a video of the device in action, so check after the jump if you wanna see more and learn a little español.

Kodak’s 7.6-inch OLED WiFi digiframe now $200 cheaper

Kodak’s 7.6-inch OLED WiFi digiframe, which we just saw in the flesh yesterday, has already been listed for a full $150 cheaper than expected. Of course, an immediate price drop was definitely in order given the $1,000 starting tag, but we can’t even say we’re tempted at a few bucks under $800. Ah well, at least we’re headed in the right direction.

[Thanks, Ron]

Kodak OLED picture frame hands-on

Totally over the top and ridiculously expensive, Kodak’s 7.6-inch OLED picture frame is still a serious want. The image was every bit as beautiful as we expected but surprised us with the frame’s ability to playback HD video in such a fluid manner. The touch-controls along the bezel did what we wanted with little thought, albeit, with some lag. Not horrible but certainly annoying if we ever decide to hand Kodak $1,000 to take one home.
