Samsung has just let the cat out of the bag regarding its top of the line Galaxy S, which is set to make its global debut in Asian markets this June. Unsubsidized, this 4-inch beastie will cost you S$1,098 (or around $775), which might be a little on the steep side, but then this is one of only a pair of Super AMOLED handsets on the market and Samsung makes the other one. And in case you want an alternative closer to home, Amazon’s German portal is now listing the Galaxy S for pre-order at €649, which works out to about the same price. The best news from today, however, is probably Samsung’s official confirmation that the phone will be getting an Android 2.2 upgrade at some point in its future. No specifics are given as yet, but we’ll take our Froyo whenever and wherever we can get it.

Nissan didn’t hesitate to gloat about its ability to book 8,000 Leaf pre-orders in just nine days during a pre-pre-order for those who specifically requested early access to the automobile, and now the outfit’s looking to make good on plans to have 25,000 orders in place by December. If all goes well, the all-electric car will be “widely available” in 2012, with a semi-wide release slated for next Spring. Naturally, the buzz is already fueling demand, and the automaker has today opened up a public reservation system online for those unwilling to take chances on availability come 2011. If you’re interested, you can actually reserve your Leaf right now with precisely zero clothing on — you heard right, there’s no need to even visit a local dealer. Simply hand over a $99 refundable deposit and wait, but you best get your story in line before being pinged by Nissan. The Wall Street Journal has it that pre-orderers will have to “convince Nissan they are up to the task of owning an electric vehicle based on their driving patterns, living arrangements and other factors,” and if you call Nunapitchuk, Alaska home, you can bet you’ll be shoved to the rear of the line. But hey, we always heard it was best to pull the trigger now and ask questions later.

Between Sprint and Best Buy locations, there shouldn’t be any shortage of opportunities to score an EVO 4G next month — assuming inventory holds up, of course — but Radio Shack’s getting in the game, too, and it’s sweetening the deal just a little bit. If you reserve a phone prior to launch by purchasing a $50 gift card (which you’ll presumably use in June to help pay for the purchase), they’ll toss in a $20 credit toward accessories when you come back in. Of course, these days, that doesn’t even get you all the way to affording a freaking wall charger, but it’s better than a punch in the nose.

We should know a whole lot more about this situation at an Iron Man 2-themed LG event taking place later today, but BGR appears to have scored full details on LG’s upcoming Android-equipped Ally for Verizon along with a couple key dates. Most importantly, it sounds like the landscape QWERTY slider will be available in “all channels” (read: telesales and brick-and-mortar stores) on May 20, preceded by an online pre-order this Thursday, May 13. It’s got Eclair, a 3.2 megapixel cam, 4GB microSD card in-box, and a Qualcomm MSM7627 core — the same midrange silicon that powers the Moto Devour. Against the Droid, this bad boy appears to slot just underneath in the range, but a little choice never hurt anyone, did it?

We knew it was coming end of May, now we have a date: May 28th and up for pre-order on May 10th. That’s when the iPad will hit Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. It lands in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July. Sorry, still no pricing. Full press release after the break.

Update: Tax-inclusive pricing is out. Très cher! Oh, and Orange UK has fessed up to pricing details for the iPad 3G + WiFi.
