We know, we know, you were banking on taking an N8 with you when you go summering in Cape Cod in July, but that might be a tall order because we’re hearing from a trusted source that August 24 has been pegged as the big release date for Nokia’s Symbian^3-powered beast. Pricing had already been announced at €370 ($465), but if you’re interested in shedding an extra hundred for no apparent reason, Amazon Germany is now officially taking pre-orders for €469.50 ($590) in black — just one of the five N8 shades Espoo will be pushing around the world. We think we’d recommend holding off on signing up for Amazon’s enticing deal here, quite honestly — especially considering the magnetic attraction we’ve got to that totally unapologetic orange version.

Listen, you’ve had enough time to think on it — just over 24 hours, to be less imprecise — and now it’s time to make a monetary decision on Sony’s Alpha NEX-3 / 5 interchangeable lens cameras. Pre-orders are now being accepted via the online Sony Style store; each camera comes as a kit with either the 16mm lens, or for an extra $50 the 18-55mm. Thus, we’re looking at a minimum of $549.99 for the NEX-3 with 16mm, up to a penny under $700 for the NEX-5 with the more versatile eye. Lenses aren’t yet sold separately, so make your choice wisely, and while you can gawk at the accessories — optical viewfinder, A-mount lens adapter, and stereo mic, among others — they’re not yet taking your credit card details for anything but the kit right now. What’s that… you wanted the camcorder? Keep dreaming, for now.

Looking for a no-frills alternative to the Kindle or Nook? For $150, you’ll probably find it in the Kobo eReader — now available for purchase at Borders, and shipping June 17th. We went hands-on with Kobo in March and rather enjoyed the barebones aesthetic; though an early review cited long load times, we thought the 6-inch E Ink slate got the basics just about right. That’s just us, though — if you get it for Father’s Day as Borders clearly suggests, we’re not sure your picky old man will agree.

We knew it was coming end of May, now we have a date: May 28th and up for pre-order on May 10th. That’s when the iPad will hit Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. It lands in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July. Sorry, still no pricing. Full press release after the break.

Update: Tax-inclusive pricing is out. Très cher! Oh, and Orange UK has fessed up to pricing details for the iPad 3G + WiFi.
