Counting down the moments with your besties until T-Mobile USA opens up the pre-order page for Motorola’s first-ever Android device? Might as well do something more productive in the meanwhile, particularly since the aforesaid carrier has just announced plans to charge $199.99 for the CLIQ on a two-year agreement. Without a doubt, that’s quite a bit more than the $0.00 we gently expected (okay, not really) it to run, but it’s pretty much par for the course these days. Existing T-Mobile customers that are interested in getting ahold of this thing (in Titanium or Winter White) early can pre-order one from October 19th through November 1st, while newcomers and procrastinators can get theirs in-store starting on November 2nd. So — you in, or what?

While several shipping dates have come and gone, we’re still hopeful of seeing Garmin’s nuvifone in the flesh and on the street at some point in the future. If you’ve forgotten (and nobody would really blame you), the HSDPA, quad-band handset will boast GPS (of course), WiFi, Bluetooth, plus a full browser. The G60’s been available in Asia for some time now, and while a confirmed US launch has been much anticipated, no pricing has ever been announced. Rumors now abound that the device will carry a $300 price tag on contract, running about $550 without. Of course, it is just a rumor — and one that we hope is off base, too.

While Sony seemed more than willing to show off its new PSP Go Converter and even more willing to gloat about its one millionth PS3 Slim sale, this little tidbit was pushed away in some neglected corner of the Tokyo Game Show. Thankfully for you, we’re dedicated to leaving no stone unturned, and now we’ve discovered that the outfit is fixing to cut 15 percent from the PSP-3000’s price tag… but only in Japan. Starting on October 1st, the UMD-friendly handheld will be offered in The Land of the Rising Sun for ¥16,800, or just over $185 using current conversion tables. So Sony — any plans to hook the rest of the world up? You don’t want to see us pout.

Gearlog has scooped pricing details on AT&T’s entry into the up-and-coming femtocell market, the 3G MicroCell, where it’s currently undergoing a public market trial in Charlotte, North Carolina — and basically, it’s a decent deal as long as you don’t want unlimited calling. Stores are charging $150 for the unit itself and service is free (similar to Verizon’s model, though Verizon charges $100 more upfront and the unit doesn’t do 3G); if you want to tack on unlimited calling, you’re paying another $20 a month unless you have some combination of AT&T landline or DSL service at your address. $20 is properly insane, though in exchange, the carrier throws you a bone with a $100 rebate on the device. All they’ve got to do is drop that unlimited service down to $10 a month to bring ’em in line with Sprint and T-Mobile and put some pressure on Verizon, which still doesn’t offer any unlimited add-on.

Happy news for our British readers today — Microsoft is selling Windows 7 Home Premium in the UK at the bargain price of £65 for the full (non-upgrade) version. Converted to $107, that’s less than Americans have to shell out just for an upgrade ($120) and about half the price of the full thing ($200). The Professional and Ultimate varieties are also cheaper by about $40 each. With Windows 7 E now out of the picture (though seemingly still available for pre-order from the MS online store), it looks like Microsoft has chosen to match its lower price (listed with an £80 MSRP) with the new SKUs that will actually see retail shelves — a price online retailers are now undercutting. Jolly good. CNET was first to the story and was told by an Amazon UK rep that the current pricing is expected to be indefinite, but previous intel on the matter has indicated that Microsoft will be hiking UK prices from January 1, 2010. So if you wanna be safe, better get that brand spanking new OS before Christmas rolls around.
