We begin with another official-looking leak of the oft-teased A77 — this time accompanied by its bodacious portrait-assisting hand-grip. Joining the fray is a plethora of leaked pricing: 1,050€ (or about $1,500) for the body of the aforementioned shooter and 900€ (around $1,300) for its little brother the A65. Fancy something smaller? Apple may be preparing to release two major products simultaneously this week: upgrades for its MacBook Air subnotebook and Mac OS X Lion, the latest Mac operating system.

The MacBook Air refresh and the arrival of OS X Lion will arrive Wednesday, possibly at 8:30 a.m. EDT, sources told AppleInsider. The tip comes in line with a report last week published by All Things Digital, which also claimed the products would debut sometime this week.

The MacBook Air last got a reboot in October 2010 as a 13.3-inch and an 11.6-inch model with super slim silhouettes: 0.68 inches at their thickest point, to be exact. OS X Lion, which was announced at Apple’s Back to the Mac event and previewed at WWDC 2011, is supposed to marry iOS and OS X, merging some of the more successful features in iOS into their new desktop platform. However, early reviews have not been promising.

The new MacBook Airs will feature backlit keyboards and Thunderbolt ports, like their MacBook Pro big brothers, according to AppleInsider. They’ll also include Sandy Bridge processors and come standard with 4GB of RAM and a minimum of 128GB storage capacity — the better to run OS X Lion with.

Apple’s Steve Jobs last year said that both OS X Lion and the superslim MacBook Air are taking lessons learned from the iPad and rolling them into a PC system. Indeed, Lion will incorporate some characteristics from the iPad with new multitouch gestures and a Launchpad for opening apps, which resembles the iPad’s home screen. The MacBook Air’s long battery life and usage of flash memory also mimic the iPad. These two products symbolize the gradual convergence between PCs and mobile products as traditional laptops become thinner, lighter, more low-powered and more dependent on web-based storage.

Time to break out the peanut butter and syrup, folks, because Bell is waffling. The Canadian mobile provider looked all set for a July 21st launch of the highly-coveted Samsung Galaxy S II, according to a listing on Best Buy Canada, but the page has unfortunately been pulled. When it was live, the galactic sequel was priced for $150 with three-year commitment, and if that were true it would make Bell the first North American carrier to offer the hot-selling Android device — though it certainly won’t be the last. Was the page taken down at Bell’s request to allow it the chance to formally announce the device? Has it been delayed? Or, was it just wrong? While we’re guessing it’s the first possibility — it is, certainly, a flagship phone that deserves some fanfare — we’ll toss a quarter in the wishing well in hopes that our dreams come true next Thursday.

Update: Best Buy Canada reinstated the page, but nudged the price up to $170. Thanks a lot.

We’ve heard an awful lot about a forthcoming Android tablet rocking an Amazon logo, including a little teasing from CEO Jeff Bezos back in May, and now The Wall Street Journal’s adding flames to the slate fire saying the hotly anticipated tab could be on its way before October. According to those oh so familiar “people familiar with the matter,” the Android-based slate would rock a nine-inch screen and, surprisingly, lack a camera, making it ill-suited as an iPad competitor — the tablet would apparently be focused on offering media purchased from the online retailer. What’s more, those sources are also spreading word of two new Kindles coming in Q3 — one with a touchscreen, the other a budget version of the current e-reader. Of course, it’s all just rumor for now, but that’s a whole lot of rumor.

It’s no secret that Microsoft is planning on integrating Xbox LIVE into Windows 8, but rumors are now swirling that Xbox 360 games might actually be playable on the next version of Redmond’s OS. References to “XBOX_360_SYSTEM_CRASH” have been found in the kernel code — an odd bit of text to show up in software that’s not designed to run on the 360’s PowerPC CPU. There are, of course, other, more mundane possibilities — like the ability to remotely control your console to trigger update and game downloads, or to receive notifications from the machine on your desktop. But, if Microsoft is bringing Xbox titles to the PC, it would only serve to solidify Windows as the platform of choice gamers. Guess we’ll just have to wait bated breath to see what Ballmer has to tell us in January.
