Splurged on a T-Mobile G-Slate, did you? Here’s your opportunity to voice your opinion to LG (and anyone else who’ll listen). Sporting an unorthodox aspect ratio and an affinity for a carrier that may not exist on its own by this time next year, it’s certainly one of the odder slate options on the market. Combine that with the inability to buy a WiFi-only model, and you’ve got yourself firmly into niche territory. That said, we’re confident that LG moved quite a few of these, and chances are that some of those buyers are reading these words right now. If that’s you, we’re interested to hear how you’d do things differently the next go ’round. Are you a fan of the form factor? Pining for a matte panel? Would you have preferred a WWAN-less variant? ASUS’ Eee Pad Slider is fast becoming just as mythical as the flying horse the company’s named after. We’ve had several encounters with potential release windows for the slate, only to see it continually creep back into fall. Well, judging by a recent report from Notebook Italia and the tab’s new product page, it looks like we may actually see a September launch for the 10.1-incher — in Italy. Contrary to prior rumors, the company will be offering the Slider in two storage configurations — 16GB and 32GB at potential €479 and €599 price points overseas, while $400 and $550 models should hit the US. We’ve also got a slew of official specs for the Honeycomb-based device, which should ship with Android 3.1 installed, with a promised 3.2 upgrade to follow. The QWERTYfied tablet packs a 1280 x 800 WXGA display, dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of memory, 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, USB 2.0, mini-HDMI, microSD card reader, WiFi and Bluetooth. The company’s also thrown in one year of “unlimited ASUS Web Storage” for your cloud computing needs. Will the electronics maker finally commit to a concrete launch for the Slider? Well friends, if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the 8-inch Vizio tab (and don’t live near a Costco), your time has come. The company announced today that its slate has begun shipping to retailers nationwide including Sam’s, Walmart and Amazon. The Android tablet is now priced at $299, a $30 drop from our last retail sighting — and just in time to entice those of you heading back to school in search of a new piece of tech to play with during that history lecture. Or perhaps you just want to kick it like Blake Griffin… don’t worry, we won’t judge you. Besides, what else do you need for your dorm room other than an integrated universal remote to queue up all those Lord of the Rings marathons?

If there’s still not enough change in your couch to snatch up a $399.99 16GB HP Touchpad, today could be your lucky day — that is, if you’re in the market for a webOS slate in the first place. It looks like Staples is offering a $100 coupon for the slab, which should be applicable to the already discounted price, giving you webOS love for $299 for the 16GB model and $399.99 for 32GB. If that price gets any lower, the $35 tablet might just have to step up its game.

We were there when a select few got their Galaxy Tab 10.1’s loaded up with TouchWiz for the very first time, and we gave you a rundown of what to expect from the newly skinned slate. Now the day has finally arrived for all the other owners to get the new software, and Samsung’s delivered the OTA update as promised. We grabbed the update ourselves on an untouched Tab, and found that it’s a 188MB download — so be prepared to hurry up and wait a while for your new media-enhanced, widget-happy tablet experience. Once you’re done doing the download dance, do let us know how the new UX is treating you in the comments.
