Latest Sprint teaser tweet all but confirms February 24th announcement is for Windows Phone 7

How many mobile platforms can you think of that integrate “with your home game console, like Xbox?” Unless we’re completely spacing something out, the answer is one: Windows Phone 7. We’d already figured the Thursday announcement that Sprint has been teasing this week on Twitter — and that little Arrive leak all but confirmed it anyhow — but if you needed any more evidence that the phone formerly known as the HTC 7 Pro would be formally announced in CDMA guise this week, here you have it. We’ll know more tomorrow, hopefully.

Intel promises, teases MeeGo smartphone and tablet for MWC

Lookie here. Intel may have been the jilted bride left at the altar by Nokia, but it’s not giving up on MeeGo just yet. The above poster has been hung up here in Barcelona, in the area us humble journalists still aren’t in allowed yet, and shows a smartphone and tablet running Intel’s Linux variant as their OS. There are plenty of details to pore over, such as the multiplicity of home screen items on the tablet that includes Big Buck Bunny — a favorite for testing HD video playback — in its top right corner; the handset, meanwhile, could very well be that Aava Mobile device we’ve been hearing about lately. MWC is opening its doors tomorrow, so even if Intel doesn’t announce these devices in full, we’ll snoop its booth out and find out for ourselves.

LG Optimus 3D previewed in remarkably convincing teaser video

We just saw a brief teaser video for the LG Optimus 3D a few days ago, but another, longer one has now also surfaced that shows just how much the phone’s glasses-free 3D display can help you in everyday situations — like practicing yoga. As explained by LG, some things are simply too complicated to be conveyed by a two-dimensional medium like a big screen TV, and can only truly be grasped by holding a phone and looking at a 4.3-inch screen while standing on one leg. See for yourself after the break.

[Thanks, M.]

Huawei IDEOS X3 and IDEOS S7 Slim tablet revealed en route to MWC launch

Huawei, the company whose name rhymes with the typical response of “who are they,” has uploaded a few images to its Flickr page teasing new hardware bound for this year’s Mobile World Congress. First up is the IDEOS X3, an Android handset seemingly set to provide a more budget-oriented family mate to the X5. It has two cameras, one on the front and one on the back, three Android buttons, and at least four different color options (red, blue, silver and black). The Barcelona event will see it joined by an IDEOS S7 Slim tablet, also running Google’s mobile OS, though our knowledge about that device doesn’t extend any further than noting it too has a front-facing camera. Check it out after the break.

LG Optimus 3D teased again, this time shows off its dual cameras (video)

We really should send a message to phone manufacturers and stop covering these tiny little leaks of controlled information, but when it’s a phone with dual cameras and a 3D display we’re talking about, we can’t help it. Every minute detail must be digested and analyzed. There’s a fast-moving video awaiting your Sherlockian wits after the break, or you can hit the source link for a gallery of screen captures that highlight the construction details of LG’s upcoming Optimus 3D. Look for it to stop being a fancy render and become a corporeal entity at MWC early next week.

Best Buy’s Buy Back Program to be made official during the Super Bowl… by Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne

We heard about this during the news avalanche that was CES early last month, but today Best Buy has started making its new Buy Back Program official in emails sent out to valued Reward Zone customers. The gist of the scheme is that Best Buy will offer you set “Buy Back” prices for goods you purchase from its stores, advertising it as a reassurance that your electronics won’t depreciate too much during your ownership. The leaked info we saw in January showed that you’ll have to pay an extra fee at the point of purchase to enroll into the Program and Best Buy’s highest re-purchase offers were capped at 50 percent of the initial price, so don’t expect this to be any great favor to you, Mr. Consumer. For more info, keep your eyes locked on the Super Bowl this Sunday, when Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne (no, seriously) will do their best to explicate Best Buy’s new venture.

[Thanks, Jeff and John]

Palm ‘Think Beyond’ teaser shows off glimpses of… something (updated with longer video)

HP and Palm aren’t being shy about hyping up next week’s big webOS event, and they’re following up on that nod to our leak and CEO Leo Apotheker’s comments with this “Think Beyond” teaser video. As is undoubtedly intended, we can’t make much of the product from these brief glimpses of tapered curves, elegant switchgear, and what appears to be a charging connector — but we’d like to think it’s a tablet, because we are fundamentally very hopeful people. In any case, we’ll see what Palm has in store for us next week — and whether it can live up to all this buildup.

Update: We were just sent a longer version of the video, which we’ve swapped in above — it shows a rear-facing camera and what’s either a microphone or speaker grille. And is it just us, or is this thing looking pretty chubtastic or what? Original Palm video after the break. [Thanks, Raphael]

LG teases Optimus 3D, only without the 3D (video)

We’re not sure what’s going on with the new teaser video released by LG. It looks like the handset that Phandroid pegged as the Optimus 3D a few days ago and has since become the poster-boy for the device that will officially include a glasses-free 3D LCD and “dual-lens camera for 3D recording.” While we can see the front-facing cam, try as we might we just can’t see that pair of lenses on the back of the handset teased in the video. In fact, we don’t see any camera at all leading us to believe that LG might be manipulating the image for a big reveal in a few weeks. The video does drop some spec hints with phrases like “something bigger” and “dual core — multi channel” which would seem to indicate a 4.x-inch display (presumably the 4.3-inch 3D display we spotted at CES), dual-core SoC (like LG’s Optimus 2x), and multi-channel RAM as originally rumored by Phandroid. Guess we’ll have to wait for Mobile World Congress to know for sure. Get your monster truck on with the teaser video embedded after the break.

Update: We’ve been told that the phone is definitely a manipulated Optimus 3D.

Samsung sucks at Photoshop: The next Galaxy S (video)

Photoshop is hard. Hell, we’re just hacks ourselves, using the tool as a means to help convey a story. But we don’t have BAs in graphic design and we’re definitely not operating within Samsung’s multi-million-dollar advertising budget. So pardon us while we tease Sammy for failing to add a starburst to cover the reflection of its super-secret next-generation followup to its Galaxy S handset. The grab above comes at the 13 second mark of the official “next Galaxy S” teaser video (posted after the break) released in the runup to the big Mobile World Congress event. We guess some secrets really are meant to be shared.

[Thanks, Shavar]
