Android-loving Japanese readers, your day has come. Mouse Computer is kindly bringing you the so-called LuvPad AD100, a 10.1-inch, 1,024 x 600 tablet running Android 2.2 on NVIDIA Tegra 2 internals. As is the way of Android tablets it is naturally just a rebrand of someone else’s product, which we’ve earlier seen showing up with a Hannspree logo and, before that, an Interpad logo. There’s the typical 512MB of internal memory paired with microSD expansion (8GB included), and it can be yours in a few weeks if you get that pre-order in for ¥48,250 — about $575. Sure, popular belief equates Colombian exports with guns and cocaine, but two Bogota-based companies presently have 10-inch tablet computers on the brain. Compumax has got an Android-powered Tegra 2 device on tap with a dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9, 512MB of RAM and a 32GB hard drive, and Smart PC’s looking at a netbook-specced Windows 7 slate with an Atom N450 processor, a DVD burner, up to 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive, a folding stand and a pair of peripheral-friendly USB ports alongside what looks like a fairly responsive multitouch screen. Intriguingly enough, the companies claim the devices aren’t rebrands and are actually built in Colombia from foreign parts — the “Hyper” Android slate is reportedly already on sale for COP 700,000 (about $387), and you can expect the “Smart Touch” Windows machine to debut for COP 1,099,000 (about $608) when it debuts in Peru next month. Yearning for a bit of dual-core action on the move? Who isn’t. Hannspree will soon try to quell that 1080p-sized hunger in all of us with its freshly announced €399 ($507) Froyo tablet. There’s no lack of spec sheet ambition here: a 1GHz Tegra 2 SOC is surrounded by 16GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD), an accelerometer, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, a 1,024 x 600-pixel capacitive touchscreen, and mini versions of HDMI and USB ports. Flash 10.1 is also proudly supported, while the 3,500mAh battery is said to last up to 8 hours when playing 1080p movies. We’d be getting real excited right about now, but we’ve learnt to be cautious with such lofty promises — remember the Gemini?

We can’t say we’d ever heard of StreamTV, but all the company had to say was “Tegra 2 Android Froyo tablet” to get us to meet up with them in NYC earlier today. The Philadelphia start-up is planning to bring its Elocity A7 — essentially a re-badged Compal’s NAZ-10 — to an Amazon order page near you, and from what we saw during the hour-long demo it may just be a contender for your stashed away $399. The 7-inch tablet has an extremely responsive 800 x 480 resolution, capacitive touchscreen — yes, multitouch worked in the browser and photo gallery — with a front-facing 1.3 megapixel cam on the left bezel. We actually got to make a quick Fring video call to one of the other tablets in the room, though it was rather lagging since we were running over it all 3G.

Surrounding the tablet is an SD card slot along with USB and HDMI ports, the latter of which did come very handy for hooking up the tablet to a 22-inch HDTV and watching an extremely smooth 1080p clip. (Thank you 1GHz Tegra II-720 CPU!) Speaking of, we also got to play a racing game, Asphalt 5, on the device, though the accelerometer steering was a bit flaky. Besides that, we’ve got to say the entire tablet experience was pretty smooth — you can see for yourself after the break and in the upcoming episode of the Engadget Show — but the unit we saw was running Android 2.1. The SteamTV’s CEO says they’ll only be shipping 2.2-running units come October and with a supplemental GetJar app store since it cannot preload Google’s Marketplace because of restrictions. He also tells us they’ll be including an HDMI cord and wireless keyboard in the box — all for $399. It all sounds rather promising, but so do all these future Android tablets!

LG’s Ally might be scratching at the boring end of the Android landscape right now, but LG certainly isn’t stopping with one smartphone on the market in 2010. LG stated on Wednesday that it’s pouring some mega cash on R&D and marketing to play catch up, and it plans to release a whopping 10 smartphones by the end of the year, projecting sales of 5 million units in that time. The low-end Optimus One kicks things off in September with a whopping 120 carriers globally, but LG also said it has a dual-core Tegra based handset in the works for the performance minded. It’s unclear if this is a replacement chip for the supposedly Snapdragon LU2300 Optimus Q (pictured) or the innards for another handset entirely, but 10 phones is a big quota to fill (at least for anyone who isn’t LG or Samsung), so hopefully it’s the latter. Finally, LG reiterated that it’s working on a tablet for Q4. “It’s going to be surprisingly productive,” said LG’s Chang Ma, attempting to set it apart from the iPad in that regard. So, LG’s for-serious about Android, but is it too late? According to Mr. Ma, who may or may not have slowly donning a pair of really hip sunglasses at the moment, “The race hasn’t started yet.”
