Zhu Zhu Pets Version 3 Hamster - Spottie.jpg

Toys “R” Us understands the true spirit of the holiday (naturally, I’m speaking specifically about Cyber Monday–we can talk more about Christmas and Chanukah, et al. at a later date, if you’d like). The toy store is offering up all manner of deals on all manner of products.

Among the discounts are a few blanket deals–things like $10 off of all Kinect for Xbox 360 titles and 60 percent off of Zhu Zhu Pets. We’ve got a small sampling of some of the site’s best deals, after the jump.

Guaranteed Awesome Gifts for the Men Who Never Grew Up [Gift Guide 2010]

If we’re talking about Peter Pan’s Lost Boys, then a sackful of marbles should do the trick. For every other man who spends more time playing with his son’s or nephew’s Christmas presents than his own, consider the following… More »

stinky_the_garbage_truck.jpg

The hottest toy this holiday season? It may well be gruff -talking garbage truck. This Matchbox-designed animatronic disposal device

collection. Toys “R” Us puts it the most succinctly, “Stinky is the name,
gobbling garbage is his game.”

Thanks to a particularly enticing television commercial, old
Stinky here has rocketed to the top of a lot of kids’ wish lists this holiday
season. He’s part of the Big Ridge Buddies line of Matchbox toys. He’ll take
four “C” batteries to get up and running.

Stinky runs retails fro $59.97, but will probably run you
closer to $50 ($49.99 at Toys “R” Us, $47.99 at Amazon, and $44.97 at
Wal-Mart).

Take your Favorite Meat Anywhere with My First Bacon

If you thought bacon was over, think again. Now you can take delicious bacon with you wherever you go or just cuddle him at night with ThinkGeek’s My First Bacon. The cuddly plush bacon toy started as an April Fool’s joke, but like many products that ThinkGeek announces as April Fool’s jokes, got such a rise out of the geek community that they just had to make him real.

My First Bacon will set you back $19.99, and can be only be ordered from ThinkGeek directly. When you squeeze him, he says “I’m bacon!” He’s a huggable 19-inches tall by 7-inches wide, and recommended for children (and adults) ages 3 and up.

Isabella Products reveals 7-inch Fable connected children’s tablet

Hello, diversification. The same company responsible for the Vizit photo frame is branching out in a big way — Isabella Products has just introduced what it’s calling the planet’s first fully interactive, connected children’s tablet. Just like mum and pop’s Galaxy Tab, the Fable boasts a 7-inch touchpanel and inbuilt 3G, but details beyond that (hardware wise, anyway) are few and far betwixt. We are told that it’ll come preloaded with children’s titles from partner Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, including Curious George, Martha Speaks, and George and Martha. As you’d expect, it’ll boast a tyke-friendly user interface and will provide a secure, SFW connection to the company’s VizitMe.com content management system. There’s nary a mention of price (nor how much it’ll cost to maintain that 3G connection each month), but all should be crystal clear by the time it launches in mid-2011.

You want WHAT for Christmas?!

Hmm. If they’re ever interested in getting Americans to buy anything for their kids, I might suggest a slight name change for Square Enix’s toy division.

SK Telecom’s Android action figures as flexible as the OS itself (video)

Here you go: Androski, the skiing Android mascot. He certainly gets more exercise than you (at least he meets more snow bunnies), and he’ll look great on your desk. Too bad he’s only available from SK Telecom way off yonder in the Republic of Korea. Of course, this ain’t the first Android toy we’ve seen in this space, but it’s certainly the most athletic! See for yourself after the break.

Update: It looks like there’s actually a variety of places to get the figures, not just SK Telecom — there’s also KT, LG U+ and some other names at the bottom of the website that we’re not terribly familiar with.

The Trekbot is a Speedy Racer for your Desk

Trekbot.jpg

Desk Pets International, which makes a variety of geeky micro-robotic toys, has just announced the Trekbot, a hubless micro-robotic racer. It comes with a five-function USB remote that lets it perform sharp turns, headstands, and full flips while moving at top speed. With a built-in USB charger, Trekbot never needs batteries.

Trekbots come with a four-color, four-frequency system, which means that multiple owners can race their ‘bots without causing interference. Each ‘bot features an angled wheel design that makes it easy for racers to perform flips and spins at the touch of a button. When it’s time to recharge, plug the USB remote into any Windows or Mac system. Thirty minutes of charging provides fifteen minutes of play. You can pick up a Trekbot at Toys R Us for $19.99. For more info, see the video here.

The Lifesize Mouse Trap at World Maker Faire

With all of the crazy awesome stuff to see at the World Maker Faire in New York City this weekend, you’d have to put on quite the spectacle to draw a line. Mark Perez and his roaming crew of clowns, human-sized mice, one-woman band, and a guy in a gorilla did just that.

The San Francisco-based crew assembled its Rube Goldberg-esque machine on a lawn outside the Hall of Science in Queens, NY. The contraption has sixteen major pieces that weigh a total of 30,000 lbs. The mousetrap is based on the 60s board game Mouse Trap, substituting bowling bowls for marbles–the bathtub, on the other hand, is still fully in tact.

All of it leads up to the crushing of a junk car with two-ton safe–in honor of the big apple, the car was a New York City yellow cab this time out.

There’s also tap dancing mice, a musical intro by the aforemention one-woman band, Esmerelda Strange, and some good, old-fashioned carnival barking. Check out videos, after the jump.
