Motorola Photon 4G gets the bargain bin treatment at Wirefly, Walmart

Pew pew. Those are the sounds we instantly hear whenever we come across Motorola’s Photon 4G. Sadly, the soon-to-be dual-core star of Sprint’s smartphone lineup won’t come pre-loaded with a laser soundboard on July 31st, but it can be pre-ordered now — for a significant markdown. All it takes is a quick internetting trip to either Wirefly or Walmart, where this WiMAX handset’s up for a $20 – $40 discount. It’s not a massive price chop on par with free, but it should move some yellow-tinged operator inventory. If walking the straight and narrow’s your bag, you could still always opt for the direct carrier two-year contract option — but why? Hit the source to get yourself in line for this cut-rate beast.

Dying to get your hands on HP’s TouchPad before it’s available on July 1st? According to Pre Central, a visit to either Best Buy or Walmart may afford you the opportunity. During the past few days, the stores have apparently begun quietly displaying demo-loaded versions of the slate. The device went up for pre-order about a week ago, but for webOS hopefuls still contemplating whether to take the Palm-rooted plunge, a pre-release impression may not be a bad grab between socks and motor oil. Don’t feel like taking a trip to Wally World, you say? You’ll find a video overview past the break; although the box to the left has us wondering if now’s a good time for getting lucky…

Elusive Acer Iconia Tab A100 coming to Walmart for $349 (updated)

Typically, the whole fun of spotting products in the wild is that they haven’t been officially announced to the world yet, but in the case of the Acer Iconia Tab A100, we’re just amazed it’s finally here, and that it’s so… unassuming. Just weeks after rearing its head in FCC drawings, the delayed Tab has quietly surfaced at Walmart with a price tag of $349. That sticker there says it all, but for the money you’ll get Tegra 2 innards with 8GB of internal storage, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and a 5 megapixel one ’round the back. And of course, it runs Android 3.0 at a time when most other 7-inchers still tap out at Android 2.3 — possibly the reason it was delayed in the first place. There’s no listing on Walmart’s website just yet, and our tipsters indicated it wasn’t actually on display. Still, if we’re seeing a price and tag, that means we’re beyond the point of any more delays… right?

Update: What you see in the wild is a display tag — not the elusive A100, of course. You can’t pop into a Walmart to buy one yet, but if that sticker is any indication, that’ll change soon.

Update 2: At least one reader says he not only saw, but played with the A100 at the Walmart in Leavenworth, Kansas, and even double-checked the model number when he saw the price. So depending on where you live, the tablet may have already landed at a Walmart near you.

Update 3: One sneaky reader snagged a sheet of wally-world pricetags, see the A100’s barcode hanging with tags for the Iconia A500 and HP Touchpad after the break.

HP TouchPad goes up for pre-order starting at $500, will be available July 1

It’s true, the TouchPad, HP’s inaugural webOS tablet, won’t go on sale in the states until July 1, but that doesn’t mean you can’t claim yours pronto. She’s up for pre-order at a long list of retailers that includes Amazon, NewEgg, Best Buy, Walmart, Staples, Radio Shack, J&R, Office Max, Office Depot, Costco, Sam’s Club, PC Richard & Son, Micro Center, and even Nebraska Furniture Mart. You’ll see it listed on HP’s site, too, but the company’s only accepting orders for businesses at the moment. As expected, the tab comes in two flavors: a 16GB version for $499.99 and a 32GB model that’ll set you back $599.99. Both of ’em pack a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, stereo speakers, Touch-to-Share, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and, of course, a gussied-up version of webOS optimized for that 9.7-inch display. Vizio tablet fits Walmart into its hectic schedule, shipping in just six weeks

Looks like Blake Griffin will have to find some other unreleased gadget to wave in front of our noses, because his beloved Vizio tablet will soon be available to all the little people who shop at Walmart. An internal schedule just faxed itself to our tin foil caps declaring that the Android 8-incher will start shipping in “week 26”, which is Walmartish for six weeks from now. That might seem a long wait considering Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 is already giving us doe-eyes from the shelves at Best Buy, but the Vizio hits a friendlier price bracket (recently leaked at $349) and has its own set of tricks. The SRS speakers and universal remote function impressed us back in January, and there’s also the Via Plus ecosystem that should integrate the tablet with Vizio TV apps and the upcoming Vizio Phone. Of course, Vizio is more than welcome to come over and pimp the rest of our home entertainment system like it did for Blake.

Vizio Tablet (VTAB1008) priced at $349 within Walmart’s system

Wait, Vizio’s concocting a tablet? For those with chronic short-term memory loss, you may have forgotten that America’s so-called low-cost TV leader branched out a bit during this year’s Super Bowl, but it’s been dead quiet on the tablet front ever since dropping the Via and sticking with Tablet. Looks like that’s about to change, though — a courteous tipster handed off the screenshot you see above, highlighting the appearance of a ‘VTAB1008’ within Walmart’s inventory system. The device was just added a couple of weeks ago, and while we’re still no closer to knowing if Vizio’s done the right thing and settled on Honeycomb, we do know that it’ll be pricing this thing competitively. How competitively? $349… competitively. We’ll keep you abreast of any release dates we see, but for now, catch up by having a gander at our preview video from a few months back.

Walmart clearing off shelf space for $599 HP TouchPad?

Hey now, what’s this? Looks like Walmart has made some space on its crowded shelves for the HP TouchPad. An eagle-eyed tipster sent in a shot from his local Wally World of a tag and some room just waiting to be filled up with the planet’s first webOS slate. It’s always possible that someone’s just throwing out their latest Photoshop masterpiece, but the $599 mark certainly has an air of legitimacy (and matches what we saw, back in May). So why not swing by for a better look? And maybe pick up a few dozen iPhones while you’re at it.

Walmart temporarily drops iPhone 4 price to $147, not that you’ll be able to find one

Quick! Someone tell Walmart Black Friday isn’t for another five and a half months. With no new iPhone in sight, the retailer is selling the 16GB version for $147 on contract — the kind of stunt we’d expect it to pull in an effort to reel in holiday shoppers. Why do we sound so unappreciative, you might ask? Easy: because you probably won’t be able to get your hands on one. The sale, which applies to AT&T and Verizon models, lasts until June 30, and only an unspecified number of “select” stores will even be participating. No word on how many discounted phones Walmart has to shill, but both the black and white versions are sold out online, which doesn’t exactly bode well for your chances of scoring one in person.

HP TouchPad available at OfficeMax on July 17th?

Here’s something to add to your long list of webOS-related rumors: OfficeMax may be getting the HP TouchPad this July. If the above document is to be believed, HP’s new 9.7-inch tablet will be available at the retailer on July 17th in both 3G and 4G versions — which is a bit puzzling, considering the company hasn’t made any mention of WiMAX or LTE compatibility. As for that earlier Walmart gossip, another tipster provided PreCentral with a screenshot of the big box’s database (after the break), which corroborates the $600 price tag we’ve been hearing about for the 32GB model. If this proves true, it’ll be another month before we find out whether the slate truly lives up to HP’s exceedingly high expectations.

Walmart prices HP TouchPad 32GB at $599?

PlayBoy Magazine might not have had the HP TouchPad’s price dead to rights, but it also might not have been far off the mark — if this allegedly leaked Walmart database entry is correct, the 32GB version of the webOS slate will cost $599. PreCentral nabbed the above image, as well as supplementary documentation suggesting an $80 sticker price for the Touchstone Dock, $50 for a first-party case, $30 for a spare AC adapter and $70 for the official Bluetooth keyboard. Of course, that $599 price tag puts the 9.7-inch tablet squarely in the sights of Apple’s 32GB iPad 2. We can’t wait to see if it’s worth the cash to pick up this underdog.
