Twitter is ablaze with the news that Seton Hill University will be giving a away a free iPad to every student, in addition to the MacBook that the university already provides.
“Beginning in the fall of 2010, all first year undergraduate students at
Seton Hill will receive a 13″ MacBook laptop and an iPad,” the Griffin TechAdvantage page says. “You will have
complete access
to these mobile technologies for classes as well as at all times for
personal use. After two years, Seton Hill will replace your laptop with
a new one – one that you can take with you when you graduate!”
Seton Hill made the announcement on Tuesday.
Located in Greensburg, Penn., Seton Hill enrolls 2,145 students. Originally founded by the Sisters of Charity, it is a private Catholic college, whose most popular degrees include business, art. psychology, and music. And it gives away iPads to its students. The school was named Best Northeastern College by the Princeton Review in 2009, according to the university, even before it began offering the iPad to its students. No word on whether they’ll have to give them up for Lent.
Seton Hill is no stranger to cozying up to business: the school’s music program was also named an “All-Steinway School,” a designation that is awarded to institutions that
exclusively use Steinway & Sons concert and practice pianos.
The university said it is also seeking new lyrics for its fight song. “Fight on, crimson and gold/Our MacBooks will never get old” should start you off.
