Motorola is quick to address Android 2.2 and its flagship handset. No surprises here as the company does intend to make Froyo available as an update in the near future. Great! Now define “near future” and we’ll be happier! pOriginally posted at a href=”http://www.cnet.com/8301-19736_1-20005791-251.html” class=”origPostedBlog”Android Atlas/a/p
Apple iPad Banned at Yankee Stadium
Posted in: ipad, Today's ChiliAre things a little dull these days at Yankees games? Don’t bring your iPad to pass the time.
Apple’s popular tablet has been added to Yankee Stadium’s existing security policy, which bans laptops at the park, according to a Yahoo Sports blog.
The writer notes that the rule is somewhat absurd, because even the TSA doesn’t require you to take the iPad out of your luggage during screening, and some people might want to use it on the long commute to and from the ballpark. However, he also notes that this is a high-class problem. And maybe you should put down the iPad and, you know, watch the game?

Posted in: Today's ChiliSpeculation continues that a Verizon iPhone will hit sometime in 2010. Maybe so, but CNET’s David Carnoy is betting it will be later rather than sooner. pOriginally posted at a href=”http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-20005762-233.html” class=”origPostedBlog”iPhone Atlas/a/p

BlackBerry Bold 9800 caught sliding through OS 6 on video
Posted in: BlackBerry, research in motion, ResearchInMotion, RIM, slider, Today's Chili, videoWhen it rains Bold 9800 news, it pours. Just yesterday we were given a glimpse of its virtual keyboard and AT&T branding, and now BlackBerry’s upcoming slider can be seen more fleshed out thanks to the power of moving pictures. No narration for this video — that’s either good or bad, depending on your own personal preference — and the horizontal menu swipe looks like it’s missing some animation, but otherwise the phone’s looking pretty snappy for a pre-release. Unless we’re mistaken, that’s clearly a capacitive screen, and even better, it’s got pinch-and-zoom mulititouch. Not in the video? Some Dylan-esque troubadour holding up a cue card that gives price and release date. Bummer. Video after the break.

22 Nostalgic Photos, And the Pinhole Cameras Behind Them [Photography]
Posted in: film, photography, shooting challenge, Today's Chili, top Digital photography is clear, convenient and remarkably predictable. But film, particularly loaded into a pinhole camera, can be rough, murky and inherently retrospective. The 22 results of this Shooting Challenge are an excellent homage to the quirks of the medium. Movies could be available as a VOD rental before DVD, Blu-ray — for $20 to $30 each
Posted in: sony, Today's ChiliThe MPAA has often stated its desire to offer movies through video on-demand ahead of their release on DVD or Blu-ray — provided the analog hole was closed — and now that it has been, the Wall Street Journal reports Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. are considering a pitch from Time Warner Cable to do just that. The price for cutting the usual four month wait for home viewing to just 30 days? As much as $20 to $30 for a rental. Sony’s already tried experimenting with a higher price point on early delivery of Hancock and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs to BRAVIA HDTV owners, but at least they threw in a free Blu-ray copy with the former. So far the studios have only agreed that their current release strategy needs some sort of change, but unless they add some sweeteners we don’t see this one shifting us from our current rental/purchase habits.

LG’s Windows Phone 7 caught in some early packaging, to be dubbed GW910?
Posted in: in the wild, InTheWild, leak, LG, prototype, Today's Chili, windows phone, windows phone 7, WindowsPhone, WindowsPhone7LG hasn’t been what you’d call “super secretive” with its first Windows Phone 7 hardware (codenamed LG Panther), after all, the phone was flashed on the Engadget Show as the first official hardware for the new OS. Still, a prototype of the phone, meant for developers to start testing their apps on, has made its way into the wild and might shed some new light on the handset. It’s been spotted with some full-on packaging (which is apparently non-final, even the Windows Phone 7 logo is wrong) and a “GW910” model number, which might be the final name for the handset — or at least its internal call sign. It’s also dangerously close in sound to the GW990, bringing back painful memories of that Moorestown phone’s cancellation. Other notes accompanying the leak state that while the OS still has plenty of rough edges and is being updated with new builds almost every other day, it’s “more or less feature complete” and very fast. They even shot a sample photo with the device, which you can find at your friendly neighborhood source link. Haven’t had enough Windows Phone 7? Hit up our nerdtastic breakdown of the OS’s core components.
