TerreStar Genus now available to anyone who wants one for just $1,150

Just how much is the promise of anywhere, anytime cellphone reception worth to you? If you answered “one thousand, one hundred and fifty dollars,” well… your time has finally come. After initially launching through business channels alone for $800, TerreStar’s unique GSM / HSPA Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone for AT&T with satellite connectivity is now available to consumers from all walks of life, as long as you’ve got $1,149.99 lying around. The Genus features Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, a 2 megapixel camera, and pretty much every other amenity you’d expect form a WinMo 6.5 smartphone with circa-2008 hardware specs, with the obvious exception that it can be used anywhere you can see TerreStar’s satellite pretty much anywhere in North America. Of course, we’d be a little hesitant about buying a four-figure phone that operates on a bankrupt service, but if you need coverage in the boondocks, your options are pretty limited. Follow the break for TerreStar’s demo video and full press release.

This iPhone Dock Has No Wires

If you’re the type who has wood paneling in their car, a bamboo iPhone case, and a solid-wood desk, the Koostik iPhone Dock will fit perfectly with your motif: it’s an iPhone dock that’s made entirely of wood, with no wires or speakers at all. The dock is designed to amplify the sound from the iPhone’s built-in speaker using the natural acoustics carved into the wood, and the folks behind it say it can make your iPhone’s speakerphone up to four times louder than it already is.
The Koostik will set you back $90 retail (with free shipping,) mostly because each one is hand-carved by the master woodworker who invented it. You can order them in a variety of colors and wood varieties, including combinations of Maple, Walnut, and Cherry faces and bodies.
It’s not built to be a replacement for an electronic dock or amplifier, and it won’t charge your iPhone because it doesn’t require electricity. Still, if you like a touch of elegance on your desk or just love all things wood, the Koostik is for you.

THQ Unveils the uDraw GameTablet for the Wii

uDraw GameTablet

If you thought that someone had already created just about every type of controller for the Nintendo Wii possible, think again: the new THQ uDraw GameTablet turns your Wii controller into a tablet with an attached digital pen that you can use to draw on screen, create your own art, control characters, or game with friends using any of the three games that currently support the device.
The uDraw GameTablet ships with uDraw Studio, which is essentially a drawing app that gets you used to the controller’s features and lets you create your own drawings and paintings. The GameTablet also supports a THQ title called Dood’s Big Adventure, which lets you paint and customize your character and enemies, and control his motion by drawing on the tablet. The game also supports Pictionary, a party game that in this case plays out on your television screen instead of on pen and paper.
The uDraw GameTablet will need a few more innovative titles to make it a must-have Wii accessory, but it’s definitely a fun little gadget that might make it in the holiday gift pile for kids or families looking for something to breathe a little life into their Wii. It’s available now for $69.99 retail price.

Nintendo returning to CES after a 16-year absence

If there’s one event that’s immune to being overhyped, it’s the annual January expo of everything consumer electronics, known to you and us as CES. The only downer to this geek endurance test is that we’ve felt it’s been lacking a little on the gaming front lately, which is why we’re so giddy to hear the news that Nintendo will be rejoining the ranks of exhibitors over in Las Vegas in a few weeks’ time. CES 2011 will be the first time in 16 years that the console sales leader has deigned to pitch up a stand at America’s biggest tech show, with our suspicion being that the event will be used as an opportunity to remind the world about the upcoming 3DS handheld. Or to drop that Wii HD bombshell we’ve all been waiting for. Yeah, right!

Target Breaks Street Date for Xbox 360 Elite – Now Selling on eBay!

This article was written on April 19, 2007 by CyberNet.

One lucky guy in California managed to get his hands on an Xbox 360 Elite well before the launch date of April 29th. He’s got pictures and a receipt to show this, and he’s now selling it on eBay.

Xbox360elite

How could something like this happen you’re wondering? Well, it’s pretty simple.  He purchased this item at Target.  Certain items like this don’t come on the “Target” truck, and instead, they come via special delivery with the “street date” printed in bright colors on the box. The Target employee(s) probably didn’t pay any attention to the street date, and ended up putting them on the shelves (which they can get fined for if this is the case).

Or, this guy works there, or knows someone and managed to coerce them into selling him one. I’d like to think it was an honest mistake by a Target employee who didn’t pay attention to the street date though.

On the other hand, it’s surprising that Microsoft has already made the shipments of these items.  Usually they get delivered much closer to the launch date, sometimes even a day before-hand.

The current bid is $800, and it will be ending tomorrow. The guy paid $514.79 with tax, so no matter what, he’ll be walking away with a decent profit!
