HP confirms it’s in talks about licensing webOS, Samsung tipped as a possibility
Posted in: GalaxyTab, HP, palm, samsung, Today's Chili, webosHP CEO Leo Apotheker has already indicated that he’s totally open to licensing webOS to other companies, and he’s now confirmed that HP has, in fact, been in talks with a “number of companies” about that possibility. Not surprisingly, he didn’t get much more specific than that, and went some way to dampen expectations a bit, saying that “there is no time pressure to do this.” According to Bloomberg, however, “three people with knowledge of the discussions” say that Samsung is one of the companies HP has had talks with, and one said that the company is specifically interested in possibly using webOS for its Galaxy Tab tablets. HP’s Jon Rubinstein also dished a bit more on the subject to This is my next, noting that “if someone wants to really invest, and potentially help develop webOS, we’re interested in talking to them,” although he went on to indicate that HP isn’t interested in playing second (or third) fiddle with a company primarily focused on Android or Windows Phone — it’d seemingly have to be webOS first, but not necessarily webOS exclusively.

The cool Gears of War Vault from gaming accessory makes Calibur 11 gives your game console a glowing makeover.
On a hot, sticky summer day, sometimes there’s just nothing better than kicking back in the sun and enjoying a frosty beer. One of my personal favorites is the caramel and oak infused Innis and Gunn, which is aged for nearly 80 days before it’s bottled. Just shy of three months is a drop in […]
HTC Status for AT&T announced on Facebook, risks being tagged in embarrassing pics
Posted in: Android, att, cellphone, cellphones, gingerbread, Google, HTC, htc sense, HtcSense, sense, social networking, SocialNetworking, Today's ChiliThe HTC Status (formerly known as the ChaChaCha, the ChaCha, and “the Facebook phone that’s not a Facebook phone”) is inching ever closer to its AT&T debut. It’s already been pictured, sashayed its way through the FCC, and now it’s been revealed for all the world to see, appropriately enough, on Facebook. As we were already aware this social networking-focused, QWERTY candybar has had its CPU bumped up to 800MHz, but otherwise it’s the same Sense and Gingerbread packing device we saw back in February. Unfortunately, all we can tell you is that the Status will land on AT&T shelves at some point — price and availability are still as much of a mystery as ever. There’s some refresher PR after the break.

NetTalk joins forces with LightSquared, enters the cellular arena
Posted in: 4G, lte, partnership, Today's Chili, VoIPMagicJack rival NetTalk is planning to crawl out of the infomercial doldrums and launch its own, branded LTE wireless service with the aid of LightSquared. See, when the cellular wholesaler is done taking out GPS signals it plans to sell space on its network to other companies who will then market it to consumers — and NetTalk wants to be one of those companies. Obviously, offering mobile voice and data is new territory for the VoIP provider but, as always, more competition on the cellular scene is quite welcome. It’s still too early for details like pricing, features, or devices, but we do have some lovely PR after the break.

If you are getting addicted to your Google Calendar, then this is perfect for you. TelegramSam.com has figured out a way to send a text message to Google and have them schedule an appointment in your calendar. It is pretty simple but does involve using SMS text messaging and you might get charged for your text message if you do not have a SMS plan with your service provider. Okay, here are the steps:
- Send a text message to 48368 and let them know what and when to schedule:
dinner at Zupas tomorrow 7pm
- Google will then create the event in your calendar and send a message back to you saying that the event was created.
This is pretty cool especially for those people with unlimited text messaging plans. Remember, Google has not officially released any information regarding this type of service so if this does not work for you then they will be unlikely to respond to your complaint.

Alcatel-Lucent’s FP3 network processor routes at 400Gbps, handles 70,000 simultaneous HD streams
Posted in: cisco, networking, router, Today's ChiliLooks like the world wide web is seeing a few upgrades this week. Shortly after NC State announced a new methodology for routing fiber optic connections more quickly, in flies Alcatel-Lucent with a shiny new network processor to make things even faster. The FP3 that was announced this week promises a “fourfold increase in performance over the fastest IP network available,” supporting 400Gbps transmission speeds while cutting power consumption by up to 50 percent. The chip’s been demonstrated to the powers that be this week, and it’s reportedly designed to “address tomorrow’s demand for ultra-high performance public and private IP networks.” How so, you ask? A sole FP3 could handle 70,000 simultaneous HD video streams or 8.4 million simultaneous retail cloud sessions, and quite frankly, could make the 100 Gigabit Ethernet standards that were used to look like old hat. But hey — who’s kvetching about that?
