Mophie may be best known for its Juice packs for the iPhone, but the company has made one of its rare Android detours with a battery case for the HTC One. Shipping now, in black at least, the Mophie Juice Pack for the HTC One squeezes a 2,500 mAh battery – 200 mAh more than the One itself has – into a bow-backed shell for the smartphone, that the company claims can boost runtime by 100-percent.
Given the HTC One’s battery is non-removable, the Mophie promises to answer one of the biggest criticisms potential owners have of the phone (we only wish it added a microSD card reader, too). Like other Juice Packs, the One variant has pass-through USB for charging both phone and case, as well as synchronizing your phone with your computer, and an LED indicator row on the lower back to show the case’s remaining charge.
There’s also a standby-switch which, if flicked on, saves the Mophie’s power until you specifically want it; otherwise, the phone will run on its own battery. You still get access to the camera and – thanks to pass-through keys – the buttons for volume, power, and such. Mophie has even considered the IR blaster HTC built into the power button, which still works even with the Juice Pack in place.
Of course, the downside of strapping an extra battery to your phone is added bulk, and the Juice Pack does indeed add some heft to the svelte One. Together, they measure in at 2.88 x 6.06 x 0.76 inches, and the Mophie adds 5.05oz, effectively doubling the weight of the phone.
That may be easy to overlook if it means you can keep using your One, however. We found that Zoe photography – HTC’s mixture of burst-stills and short HD video clips – was particularly power-hungry in our review of the phone, and as such keen shutterbugs hoping to get the most out of the phone’s UltraPixel camera may well be the obvious target for Mophie’s new accessory. It’s shipping now in black, priced at $99.95, while the silver version will follow on in mid-May.

Satellite-based streaming is a successful enough enterprise for the time being, but even the most naive of executives must know that the momentum isn’t sure to last. In-car LTE and cheap web-based solutions provide access to millions of tracks on demand, making other options less relevant. Doom and gloom aside, there’s still an opportunity to remain afloat, and Sirius XM’s new CEO, Jim Meyer, has a plan to diversify his company’s portfolio of products.
The music would continue to flow, but OnStar-like options would become available as well, according to a Reuters interview with Meyer. Other services, such as weather, realtime gas prices, roadside assistance and stolen car tracking could be implemented with the company’s existing satellite infrastructure, and might be offered on a subscription basis down the line. “This is going to take a while,” according to the new chief executive, who said that the new products might be implemented in certain 2017 and 2018 vehicles, but likely not sooner. Sadly, he’s not talking details just yet, but there may be more to share before the end of next year.

HTC has confirmed it will shutter its HTC Watch video streaming service in six locations, with the company saying it plans to focus on areas where adoption has been stronger. Launched on the HTC Flyer back in mid-2011, Watch was HTC’s attempt to challenge iTunes on the iPhone with a media download and rental store, but struggled to gain the same sort of traction as Apple’s service.
News of the incoming closures was tipped by emails sent to Italian subscribers, Telefonio reports, warning them that the store would no longer be available after May 15. Existing purchases would still be available to watch and re-download, according to the message.
HTC confirmed the part-shuttering in an official statement. “As we continue to deliver new content for HTC Watch, we’ve made the decision to focus our efforts on markets with the highest engagement” a company spokesperson told us. “After May 31, we’ll discontinue support for HTC Watch in countries with less application traffic.”
Those countries consist of Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands. According to HTC, access to Watch will no longer be possible in those locations after May 31.
Of course, Watch isn’t the only media download option HTC device users have to choose from. Google’s own Play store has a video section, where movies can be purchased and downloaded, for instance.

“Splash” welcomed a special celebrity diver to its latest episode, and their surprise guest brought along a diving prop. Entering masked, Tony Hawk didn’t reveal himself until he was on top of the 10-meter platform. Once there, he grabbed a skateboard and performed an unusual hybrid skate-dive that earned him high praise from the judges.
For the rest of the night, though, the judges were very stern with the Final Four, in all the right ways. They deducted as they should, even giving out the lowest scores yet for Brandi Chastain’s disastrous first dive. The night was structured so that the person with the highest combined scores from the judges and the audience would automatically advance to next week’s finale. The other three would compete head-to-head-to-head in a dive-off to see which two would move on.
Rory Bushfield did an impressive three-somersault dive from the 10-meter platform to earn his way into the finale. When it came time for the dive-off, Brandi again fell short. Drake Bell had a rought night as well, and was pretty angry — with some biting comments seemingly directed toward Rory and his inability to enter the water headfirst due to a ruptured eardrum — after his first dive. He redeemed himself enough with his second, but once again it was Nicole Eggert who proved both surprising and impressive with her save-me dive.
Samsung isn’t the only one with tales to weave about its latest smartphone. HTC’s released a video detailing the manufacturing process behind its metallic beauty, the One. It’s a quick tale, under two minutes long, and was actually part of HTC’s big reveal in London and New York a few months back, although it’s recently been given a re-edit and uploaded. The company keeps the focus on hardware construction and it’s taken diamond cutters, “zero-gap construction”, electro-chemical etching and, well, plenty more engineering to get the job done. Industrial manufacturing and chamfered edge fans should make the leap beyond the break for the full video.

‘The Voice’: Adam Levine Calls Blake Shelton For His Choice Between Luke Edgemon And Holly Tucker (VIDEO)
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt was Night 2 of the Knockout Rounds, and that meant it was time for Team Blake and Team Usher to whittle their combined sixteen contestants to only eight each who will advance to next week’s live shows. Early in the night, Blake Shelton courted controversy with the judging panel after his second pairing.
He pitted one of his newest acquisitions, Luke Edgemon — stolen from Shakira — against country powerhouse Holly Tucker. Edgemon performed a unique take on Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” that got the attention of the other coaches, but didn’t seem to resonate as much with Blake. Or perhaps he’s just loyal to his own team. He ultimately booted both of his steals when he sent Taylor Beckham — stolen from Usher — home as well.
But it was the elimination of Luke that got him some flak from the other coaches. Adam Levine tried to convince him to pick Luke right from the beginning. “Don’t be stupid. I’m not playing games,” he told Blake. After Blake did eliminate Luke, Adam dropped by to expand on his thoughts. “Let me explain why you’re an idiot, is because he’s a whole unique thing,” Adam said. “He’s original. He’s different.”
Tokyoflash reissues its Kisai Rogue SR2 and Kisai Stencil watches in wooden form
Posted in: Today's ChiliTokyoflash is known for crafting some seriously cryptic, over-the-top timepieces, and its latest efforts are no exception. Today, the company announced a revised pair of wristwatches that aim to pull your attention away from your smartphone’s clock. Unlike the original Kisai Rogue SR2, its wooden successor is a combination of maple and sandalwood wrapped around a prominent always-on LCD lined with a circle of connecting blocks in place of a traditional set of numbers. The watch’s display comes in three natural colors — we know red and green are on deck but the third remains a mystery (though blue seems a safe bet).
The second time-teller to get a makeover is the Kisai Stencil. This limited edition design sports a natural maple or sandalwood casing and your choice of a black or white leather wristband. The Stencil’s enigmatic LCD displays time in an almost scrawled four block space that the company claims is “very simple to read.” In celebration of the launch of its new gear, Tokyoflash is offering both watches at a discounted price of $99 until Friday at 4PM JST.

Lenovo has just announced their latest addition to their notebook stable, the Lenovo ThinkPad S431 which runs on Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system. The Lenovo ThinkPad S431 will be equipped with a multi-finger touchscreen display that will be able to open up to 180-degrees, where it will be accompanied by the likes of a backlit keyboard alongside optimized shortcuts, and of course, something that is extremely essential – a large and responsive touchpad, where all of these were part of the design considerations to make it work as well as possible with Windows 8 as the operating system of choice.
The ThinkPad S431 would sport a 14-inch display that has been fitted into a 13-inch frame. Sounds illogical? Well, that is because it boasts of beveled edges which were specially designed to make the entire shebang look thinner than it actually is. Lenovo claims that the progressive design cues used will assist small businesses to impress their customers, without compromising on power or productivity. Other hardware specifications include 8GB RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and the ability to connect to the ThinkPad OneLink Dock using a single cable. Expect the Lenovo ThinkPad S431 to ship from June 2013 onwards for $699 a pop.

Amped Wireless TAN1 Wi-Fi Adapter
Posted in: Today's ChiliIt does not matter whether you own a Windows 8 tablet, notebook or convertible device, chances are pretty good that you would have sorted out, or at least, ran into issues concerning the limitations within the Wi-Fi hardware that just about all PC owners do whenever one hits the road. Amped Wireless has identified this as a potential market need, which is why they decided to come up with a spanking new Wi-Fi adapter which was specially developed to increase the range of Windows 8 PCs.
Known as the TAN1 Amped Wireless High Power Wi-Fi Adapter, it is now on sale for $59.99 if you are interested. The TAN1 is certainly versatile enough, as it can be used on a flat surface or attached to a notebook or tablet screen thanks to the presence of an adjustable clip. The TAN1 itself will then hook up to the USB port of the Windows 8 PC without the need for additional software installation. The TAN1 is said to extend the Wi-Fi range of any Windows 8 devices by up to three times that of their normal reach, courtesy of a couple of high-gain antennas, two 600mW power amplifiers and wireless reception amplifiers. Watch the video of the TAN1 above in action.
