Motorola Camera App Released, Only Compatible With Moto X

Motorola Camera App Released, Only Compatible With Moto X

Taking a page out of its parent company Google’s playbook, Motorola has released one of its smartphone’s core applications on the Google Play Store. The Motorola Camera app has now been released, and is readily available for download. There’s a caveat though, the app is only compatible with Moto X right now and it doesn’t seem like compatibility will be expanded to include other Android devices as well, quite unlike Google which doesn’t limit core apps to a specific device. Though its possible that Motorola might make the app available for its DROID lineup somewhere down the line.

Motorola Camera app makes it easier for the company to update camera software on Moto X without having to first develop an app updating system of its own. To roll out camera software updates for the Moto X, the company merely needs to update its standalone app. This particular release brings a number of improvements. The camera viewfinder has been brightened and Quick Capture has also been enabled for more enterprise users’ IT policies. The usual slew of bug fixes are present as well. Motorola Camera app for Moto X is available as a free download from the Google Play Store, it weighs in at just 2.5MB.

Its not like anything left to the imagination, pictures of the Nexus 5 have been leaking almost every single day. Even today we get to see high quality pictures of a Nexus 5 teardown, that too before the actual announcement of the device itself.

HTC M8 Will Reportedly Be First Sense 6.0 Device

HTC M8 Will Reportedly Be First Sense 6.0 Device

HTC isn’t expected to launch another flagship Android smartphone in what’s left of this year. It launched the HTC One earlier this year, which was very well received. The launch was followed up with HTC One Mini a few months later. After that, we started hearing rumors of a HTC One-esque phablet being in the works. Sure enough, a few weeks ago, the HTC One Max was announced. The first rumor about what to expect from HTC next year, presumably, has come in. A device, codename M8, is said to be the first device to run HTC Sense 6.0.

Unfortunately, the source doesn’t offer any details about Sense 6.0, particularly about how it will be different from Sense 5.5. The little bit of information comes from serial leaked @evleaks, who tweeted about the HTC M8 earlier today. No details about the device have been offered, so its too soon to say right now if it will opt for a metal design like the current flagship and exactly what it will tout under the hood. HTC M8 is obviously not going to be the final moniker of the device, the company still has a lot of time to make a decision on that. Just to jog your memory though, the HTC One was codenamed the HTC M7.

Google Glass Accessory Store Goes Live

Google Glass Accessory Store Goes Live

Google Glass is yet to be launched for the public, but there’s already a lot of hype surrounding Google’s wearable gadget. The company has only offered it to a select few people who’re called “Explorers.” A few days ago the company announced that it will now be rolling out updated units of Google Glass to Explorers. Its evidently ramping up production, as it will soon allow Explorers to invite three people they want to the Glass program, who’ll be able to purchase their own units. Apparently Google will allow sell accessories for the wearable gadget, as screenshot of a Google Glass accessory store has surfaced online.

It is believed that this accessory store went live just recently, though it doesn’t appear to be accessible unless and until you have a Glass unit. Among the accessories being offered are the new mono earbuds, that Google has replaced the bone conduction speaker with. Mono earbuds cost $50 on the Google Glass accessory store. An extra cable, microfiber pouch and charger combo and clear shield are also on sale, for $50 and $75 respectively. There may also be sunglasses from Maul Jim and Zeal Optics, though they’re reportedly not available right now in the store, perhaps they’ll be added at a later date. When does Google intend to sell Glass to the public? If rumors are to be believed, sometime next year. [Image via Nick Starr]

Earth-size rocky planet is a hot mess

Kepler-78b might seem kind of familiar. It’s one of only a few planets scientists have found that are about the same size as Earth. It has a rocky makeup like Earth as well. But we won’t be building leisure colonies on it anytime soon. Our doppelganger is rocking some hellish temperatures.

The planet was pinpointed thanks to NASA’s Kepler space telescope. Two different research teams took on the task of ferreting out some of the details on the planet, and both have published papers this week about the discovery in the same issue of the Nature journal.

One paper is titled, “A rocky composition for an Earth-sized exoplanet,” while the other is “Extrasolar planets: An infernal Earth.” The two teams coordinated with each other, and their independent results corroborated the findings.

Beetlejuice Maitlands Costumes Won’t Scare Winona, But Should Freak out Everyone Else

If you really want to scare somebody out of their house (or even your house after you are dead) there is no better way to do it than with these awesome Maitlands’ costumes from Beetlejuice.

They were built by instructables member TrustTheStar. If you’re thinking about building some for yourself, you’re basically making two large heads from big blocks of EPS construction foam.

Once you have that you’ll need to cut the foam with a hot knife into the shape of each head and sand it. A dremel is also very handy. After you shape them, just paint them up, add some wigs and black mesh for the details. Also, you’ll need some styrofoam eyeballs for your fingertips.
