Working Artificial Blood Created By Romanian Scientist

Working Artificial Blood Created By Romanian Scientist

Your local blood bank could very well one day start carrying something other than human blood as the Balkan News Agency is reporting a team of scientist from Romania have successfully created artificial blood. The artificial blood has been successfully tested in mice as they didn’t experience any negative symptoms at all as the blood was able to perform exactly how organic blood does. (more…)

Neurocam Automatically Records Only What You’re Interested in

The Neurocam is the latest invention from Neurowear – the minds behind the Necomimi cat ears and that tail that wags tail that wags based on your thoughts. Though this one seems like a slightly more useful, if not still strange device.

The Neurocam monitors brainwave activity to monitor your interest level in things you’re observing. When it senses that your interest threshold has been hit, it automatically captures images or video. In its current state, the system automatically creates 5-second GIFs of interesting subjects. Here’s a brief video demo of the Neurocam in action:

The device is a headband that holds the users smartphone in a bracket, and it appears that it also has some sort of 90-degree lens adapter for the smartphone so it captures images of whatever you’re looking at.

It’s definitely a novel idea, but all I can imagine is that for most guys, the Neurocam is only going to capture images of cleavage and butts.

Police using big rigs to catch texting drivers

    Clever?

Police ingenuity knows no bounds these days.

No sooner had we heard that some police forces were shooting GPS bullets out of their car grills than another piece of agile thinking lumbered its way to our attention.

In Tennessee, police have become a tad frustrated with their inability to catch texter-drivers.

After all, police cars are at the same level as many others. They’re lower down than SUVs. So what to do?

Get yourself a big rig, that’s what.

Japanese Researchers Breath Controlled PC Mouse

Moving your mouse around with your hands is so 1963 as technology has advanced to a point where we can use other parts of our bodies in order to move around our desktop’s cursor. We’ve seen cameras that are able to track our bodies and eyes to figure out what we want to do with our desktop cursor, but a team of researchers at Kinki University in Japan have developed a way to move your mouse with nothing more than your breath. PS4 Has No MP3 Playback and DLNA Streaming: Backlash Awaits

When Microsoft outlined the restrictive lending and always online requirement for the Xbox One earlier this year, it was hit with a wave of hatred so hard that the company was forced to eat its words. Now it’s Sony’s turn to be on the wrong end of publicity, albeit for less offensive reasons. In its recently posted Ultimate FAQ for the PlayStation 4, Sony explicitly states that the console won’t support MP3 playback and streaming via DLNA.

    sony ps4 playstation 4magnify

As with the shelved always-online requirement on the Xbox One, part of the reason why gamers are so upset about the loss of two supplementary features is because the previous console had them. I myself used my PS3 to stream videos from my iMac using the excellent PS3 Media Server app. Others used Plex. Bottomline, it’s a downgrade. So why would Sony subtract those features? A possible answer would be to push its streaming services for both music and video, which are both accessible on the PS4 out of the box. Assuming you have an Internet connection. And that the streaming service is available in your country.

In an attempt to quell disappointed customers, Sony Computer Entertainment President Shuhei Yoshida stated on Twitter that he will discuss it with the console’s development team “for future consideration.” Hopefully that means a patch and not the PS5.

Could Video Games Be Used For Anger Management?

Could Video Games Be Used To Treat Anger Issues?

About a year ago, researchers at the Boston Children’s Hospital used video games to help children deal with out-of-control emotions, teaching them to regulate and reign in their anger. Today, I’d like to ask a very simple question: could the same tactics be applied to adults?

The NASA Engineer Who Made iPads the Future of Halloween

Two years ago, NASA engineer Mark Rober blew YouTube’s mind with a video of his Halloween costume: a hole in his chest. Or at least it looked like a hole in his chest. In fact, it was an optical illusion made possible by two iPads, a little duct tape and a lot of ingenuity. Well, you won’t believe what he’s been up to since then.
