I’m pretty sure that White Tiger’s huge star destroyer will be a sight to behold when it’s finished, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not as polished as this 1:2,256 scale model of the Imperial II star destroyer by model kit builder Cho Jin Hae aka Darth Maul. From what I can tell this seems to be based on a ready to assemble kit, but Cho Jin Hae did the painting and lighting.
While Cho Jin Hae’s model is nowhere near as large as White Tiger’s build, the lighting on it is really well done and makes the ship come alive.
Check out more images of the scale model on Cho Jin Hae’s blog. He also posted a couple of in-progress posts here and here.

Apple is protesting against the court-appointed antitrust monitor it was forced to pay for as part of the guilty ebook price-fixing verdict, arguing that the lawyer selected is extortionate in his fees. Former US Justice Department inspector general Michael Bromwich was elected by the US District Court to track Apple’s compliance around avoiding potential antitrust […]
HTC One developer and unlocked models start receiving Android 4.4 KitKat in the US
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you were bold enough to buy a Developer Edition HTC One or its unlocked sibling, today is your lucky day. HTC’s US division has announced that it’s rolling out an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade to both One variants, weeks ahead of the expected update for carrier-locked models. Sense 5.5 should also be a part of the package. While the KitKat upgrade isn’t reaching these units as quickly as it did for the Google Play Edition, it’s safe to say that many One owners will have another reason to celebrate this Thanksgiving weekend.

Google’s Nexus smartphones are susceptible to a messaging glitch that can force them to reboot or disconnect, security researchers have discovered, with handsets running recent versions of Android falling victim to special SMS messages. When around 30 so-called Flash SMS messages – which are displayed on-screen but not stored – are sent to a Nexus […]
This skull armchair is the perfect throne. Especially if you like to cosplay as Skeletor and lounge around acting all evil. It’s best to face away from any captives that are going to be entering the room. You want them to see the skull face first and be thoroughly frightened before they see you. Though it needs to be placed on a rotating turntable for full effect.
This Skull Armchair was designed by French artist Harold Sangouard who probably sits in it and laughs maniacally all day. The face is very angular and pretty darn creepy. You should be petting a cat while sitting there too for dramatic effect.
How much is it? Too much, that’s how much. “Price available upon request.” In other words, you and I can’t afford it. Only evil geniuses should inquire. Wait, do evil geniuses buy things, or do they steal them all?

If you get lucky, the clothing store where you bought that new sweater or shirt might toss in the plastic hanger it was on free of charge. Otherwise, you’ll have to scrounge one up yourself—at least until this wonderful redesign of the shopping back becomes a reality. With a few folds the Hangbag transforms into its own hanger, strong enough to support everything short of a lead-lined suit.
A guide to street photography: Antonio Olmos and the dark art of manual exposure
Posted in: Today's ChiliStreet photography is the purest, most spontaneous way to create art with a camera. No studios, no props, no poses; all you need is the right equipment and a street with people on it. In this original series for Engadget, we’ll follow three seasoned street fighters and try to glean some practical wisdom about what engages their eyes, brains and fingers in the moments before they shoot.
In part one, we focus in on Antonio Zazueta Olmos — a street photographer who has learned to rely on manual exposure to capture the images he wants, rather than making use of the ever-smarter, ever-quicker automatic settings available on the latest digital cameras.
