Tracking Down Great Software For You!

The holidays are coming up and wouldn’t it be nice to know how many days there are until they arrive? To keep track of those upcoming events you should get Timeleft. It will give you a countdown so that you can see how many years, months, days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left until the event.

Timeleft is free but there is also a paid version available. The main difference is that the free version only lets you have one countdown clock while the paid version will give you an unlimited number. For many people one should be enough but a few years back I decided to purchase the software because they offer free lifetime upgrades, something that is very rare for a software company. For that reason I figured it would be well worth my money and it has been. At the time I only paid $16 for it but it has gone up a little bit to $20 for a single license. Still, for lifetime upgrades that is a bargain.

The free version also lets you have one reminder, clock, sticker, timer, and stopwatch so it is a pretty comprehensive utility. I find it to be both useful and entertaining being able to do the countdowns. I don’t use other portions of the program that much, like the stopwatch, but I have found the timer to be helpful. When you stick something in the oven you no longer have to walk over to see how long is left before it has finished cooking, because the timer can be sitting right on your desktop!

The idea for Timeleft is simple: let people keep track of their most valuable thing, time! It does just that but it does it very well.

Canine’s Raincoat keeps Fido dry

canine-raincoatSome dogs loathe getting wet, making you wonder whether they are actually a cat in disguise, while others would greet the pitter patter of the rain with joy, and would not think twice about jumping into a river or a lake and have a great swim. Well, some of us tend to treat dogs like humans, which is something Cesar Millan would strongly advise against since they are dogs – not humans, period. Be the leader of the pack, and through my experience with my own two furkids, I have found that to be a pearl of wisdom worth hanging around the neck. For overprotective owners who want to keep their dogs nice and dry when it rains all of a sudden, then the $49.95 Canine’s Raincoat would come in handy.

This particular rainwear was designed to protect dogs in the same way an umbrella does to a human, from nose to tail. It is made out of a water-repellent nylon exterior and lined with soft fleece for snuggly, warm comfort, where it sports a removable transparent hood which will ensure that your dog’s head remains nice and dry without causing any obstruction to its ears. Apart from that, it comes with a reflective trim for maximum visibility, where the raincoat itself sports adjustable hook-and-loop fasteners around the chest and belly so that it will be able to enjoy an optimal fit all the time. Even a leash can be hooked up connected to raincoat’s D-Ring or to a dog’s harness via a button hole opening. Too bad it only comes in one color, green.

Friday Poll: Which Samsung Galaxy S5 rumor do you most hope is real?

The next Galaxy may have a metal-body option.

We appear to be ticking down to the inevitable release of the next Samsung flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5. That means we first have to wade through a froth of rumors well before the actual product ever gets announced (likely in March or April). When it comes to the S5, there are some fun possibilities on the table.

One suggestion is that there will be two versions, a plastic-body version and a premium metal-body version. That’s potentially good news for fans of metal phones who like the durability.

Another interesting upgrade would be the rumored rapid-charging battery. Smartphone battery life is a big recurring complaint these days. If this rumor pans out, the S5 would have a 20 percent greater capacity in the same footprint as its predecessor, and it would also charge up in less than two hours.

Perhaps the splashiest rumor involves a fingerprint sensor, which certainly conju… [Read more]
