The Desktop Photograph to Digital Picture Converter will make old memories into new ones

Desktop Photograph to Digital photo scanner
We can’t remember every single thing we’ve ever seen or keep track of all of our memories. This is one of the many reasons we seem obsessed with taking photos or videos of people, places, meals, and more. As the years press on, the format for storing photos or videos is going to change, just as it has in the past. If you came from a time where having to develop strips of film was normal, then you likely want a way to make those memories more accessible.

Should you have a fair amount of this film lying around, and don’t want to pay someone else to do the work for you, the Desktop Photograph to Digital Picture Converter would be of use. It can scan pictures that you’ve gotten printed or strips of film. By pressing a button, your memories will be turned into  a JPEG on an SD card. Of course, you’ll have to purchase that aspect separately, but make sure it’s no larger than 32GB.

The converter uses a 14MP CMOS sensor, which means it can nab the images at around 3,200dpi. It will work on Mac, Win7,Vista, or XP, and includes a slide tray, film tray, and guides for aligning photos or business cards. There’s an RCA cable that will allow you to put your images on a TV, and it will cost you around $200 (or more if you don’t have an SD card). It will take a fair amount of time in addition to money, so you’ll want to weigh those out against the cost of having someone else doing it.

iPhone users smartest, Test of Wits says. BlackBerry? Sorry

An expression of intelligence?

(Credit: Apple/YouTube Screenshot by Chris Matyszczyk/CNET)

You are your smartphone, and your smartphone is you.

It is, by now, an accepted wisdom that your choice of pocket computer says more about you than perhaps even you might articulate.

These pages are evidence that such a choice elicits a competitive element. So might I present a supposedly objective piece of educational research that shows iPhone users are a touch smarter than users of other phones?

As with all the finest educational research, this was sponsored by a betting company, Britain’s Ladbrokes.

It gave 2,000 human beings the Test Of Wits. This is a compendium of seven brain teasers that purports to examine just how sharp you are.

Before the human beings began the test, each had to state the manufacturer of his or her smartphone.

The results will cause pain to some and an increased level of arrogance among others. You see, Apple users were the victors. Yes, those vain, design-conscious poseurs (disclosure: I myself own an iPhone) do indeed have the sharpest minds.

As the Daily Mail reports, iPhone owners solved the Test of … [Read more]

This spectacular video looks like a superhero movie but it's real

The slow motion clips in this video by Simmon Hammond look like computer generated scenes from a superhero movie—the exquisite photography, the dramatic color, and the camera moves are just too perfect to be real. But it is real. And it feels magical.

A Rainbow USB Cable With Every Charging Adapter You Need—Also Nokia

It may seem a little opulent, but a lot of us won’t leave home with at least our smartphone—maybe even two—and a tablet. And eventually one of them is going to need a battery boost, so instead of carrying charging cables and adapters for every single device, toss this single colorful USB adapter in your bag and you’re all set.

Cat Has TIE Fighter Markings: The Empire Claws Back

This cat must be part of the Imperial fleet and he doesn’t even try to hide it. Either that or he is an a never ending war with that TIE Fighter on his fur. Maybe the Empire sends him out to act as a decoy to fool other animals and distract them.

This cat is owned by Ella McConnell, who must make spaceship and laser noises every time it walks by. I know I would. This cat needs to watch out for X-wing cats if he wants to avoid a fight. Maybe he could just face the other way and let it pass.

This is just more proof that God loves Star Wars. Not the prequels though. That is the devil’s work.

Hashtag, twerking and selfie: Most annoying words of the year

Singer Miley Cyrus both twerks and takes selfies like this one. No word on her opinion of Obamacare.

(Credit: Miley Cyrus)

The words “selfie” (taking a photo of one’s self); Obamacare (the nickname of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act); and “twerking” (a provocative dance style made famous by singer Miley Cyrus during her MTV VMA performance) made the 39th annual List of Words to be Banished from the Queen’s English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness from Lake Superior State University.

The list is compiled from nominations sent to LSSU throughout the year and then released each year on New Year’s Eve. It dates back to 1975, when onetime LSSU public relations director Bill Rabe and colleagues came up with the idea to urge banishment of overused words and phrases from the English language.

huntkeyA couch potato will definitely be able to identify with the idea of controlling everything right there and then from the couch itself without having to lift one finger more than necessary. Even better if here is also another kind of robotic assistant that is able to deliver food and drinks to you at your whim and fancy. If that describes you perfectly, then you would definitely be able to identify with the introduction of the Huntkey TV Power Strip, where a solitary TV remote controller is able to ensure that your entire living room TV set up can be fooled around with without having to do what mere mortals do.

With the Huntkey Power Strip (model SZK406), it takes just a handful of steps when it comes to configuring the peripheral itself before you are able to keep your butt planted on the La-Z-Boy chair itself. Within a single minute after the extension socket boots up, you can then point the remote controller at the TV set. Pressing it would turn the entire TV set on.

Apart from giving freedom to your feet so that they can relax more, this smart TV power strip has another advantage which would have your home’s accountant smiling at the end of the day – it boasts of power-saving capability, in comparison to traditional power strips. You will find able to find a standby mode come in handy, helping lower the power consumption of stereo sets, in addition to having them work in a more intelligent manner while offering safe technologies which will be able to conform to each country’s safety standards.
