Amazon spent a lot of time talking about consumer reviews of competing devices when it unveiled the Amazon Fire TV yesterday, and that provides tremendous insight into its product development process. As the largest online retailer of goods in the world, the company has a unique line on shopper sentiment data – its online reviews constitute possibly the single-largest repository of… Read More
The U.S. has already been heavily criticized for NSA’s global electronic spying programs, and now a new report by The Associated Press claims that the U.S. used an aid agency to develop and run a secret “Cuban Twitter” to spark unrest in the country. United States Agency for International Development a.k.a USAID was reportedly behind the project and it used secret shell companies to handle the finances. This also allowed the agency to circumvent Cuba’s strict internet laws.

It’s not every day that you see an internet-based 3D engine pushing a game to virtual reality with one line of code. That’s what’s been demoed this week as HTML5 … Continue reading
MIDI—the Musical Instrument Digital Interface—lets anyone with just an electronic keyboard, or other simple interface device, recreate an entire orchestra’s worth of sounds. But what if you can’t even play a keyboard? That’s where a new piece of software called imitone can save the day, turning your voice (or other sounds) into an all-out symphony.
MLB’s online offering has long been the technological leader among U.S. major sports. That’s no surprise given the size and financial power of MLB Advanced Media, but repeated issues with the service across devices this season have made MLB.TV look more like NBA League Pass
Samsung has a penchant for launching several variants of its flagship smartphone. Come April 11th the Samsung Galaxy S5 is going to be released in more than 100 countries. A couple of upcoming variants have already been rumored, such as Galaxy S5 mini and the Galaxy S5 Zoom. Today a purported picture of the Galaxy S5 Zoom has appeared online. Rumor has it that the device might actually be called Galaxy K Zoom.
If that really is true, then Samsung would be moving away from the naming convention that it debuted with Galaxy S4 Zoom. A similar variant of 2013 flagship was also released last month, the main idea behind this variant is to offer a much better imaging experience, even if that means opting for not so spectacular hardware specifications.
Rumored specifications for Galaxy S5 Zoom include a 1.6GHz quadcore or 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 5 hexacore processor with ARM Mali-T624 graphics. It may have a 4.8-inch display and 2GB RAM. The Galaxy S5 Zoom might come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat pre-installed.
Evidently the pièce de résistance on this variant will be its camera. Word on the street is that it packs a 20 megapixel rear camera with 10x optical zoom as well as a Xenon flash. Its predecessor, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, had a 16 megapixel camera, so at least that’s an improvement. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed when or if it intends to launch this variant. [Image via KZoom]

At first glance, ZunZuneo had all the markings of your average Silicon Valley startup: a silly name, a focus on messaging and plans to make a splash abroad. That wasn’t exactly the case though, as the Associated Press reports. No, ZunZuneo was a…
With the first version of the Samsung Galaxy Camera, we saw a fairly traditional-looking handheld camera up front (with a big display behind.) With the Galaxy S4 Zoom, we saw … Continue reading
Hamsters now have a new mech that they can use to conquer the world. This neat Strandbeest is powered by a hamster in a wheel. The hamster inside turns some gears, which move the mechanism forward. Your kids will love it as a hamster toy, but your hamster will love it because he/she will now have a vehicle. World domination can’t be far behind.
It’s pretty creepy watching a hamster move such a machine. Maybe we should just bow down to our new masters now and accept our fate.
Maybe the cats will help us. Cats are our friends right? Right?
